  1. Doesn't seem like we're short of money given the bids that have been reported on from various quasi-reliable sources though. We've got, what, 25m in bids out there at the moment?
  2. If he goes he goes. There's not a player in our squad who'd turn down City, nor a player in any of our squads over the past 20 years who would turn down a move to a club in City's position. I have no doubt he believed every word he said when he signed the new deal, I just think he never in his wildest dreams imagined City would be after him offering him a 6 figure wage. Even the fact (if it is indeed a fact) that he'll be making 120k a week sounds to me like he threw out a seemingly ridiculous figure during discussions and they went for it. How much did he sign on for with us 6 months ago? Doubt it's even half of that. In his shoes I'd have done the exact same thing, from his comments to accepting the move. 120k a week over 4 years - he'd not earn that in 8 year playing at villa. That's 25m over the contract. Your kids, their kids and their kids are living absolutely privileged lives thanks to that money
  3. Historically, he's always been at his best (which is pretty decent) when he's been playing for a new contract or a move. I think he might actually be decent this season, assuming we set our stall out NOT to offer him a new contract and are happy enough to have him play well and then **** off to another patsy who'll get nothing out of him til his contract is about to expire or he wants a move, just like at Newcastle and Wigan
  4. No money we have ever made, ever, has gone to Randy's pocket. The guy has sunk a quarter of a billion of his own money into us. He's not exactly been great in his role, but I wish people would knock this rubbish on the head that he's taking money out of the club. The club has been draining HIS finances, not the other way around
  5. People are just fishing for likes now surely
  6. No you're not. He's as enigmatic as he is trouble but underneath he's a bloody talented player, even at this stage of his career. I fancy if he came here the support he'd get would be quite inspirational, now what he does with that would be up to the manager, and at least he and Sherwood have some rapport. Then there is the Adebayor's record, we currently pay a striker who can't score goals a lot of money to flatter himself, yet with Adebayor you're guaranteed goals, he's one of those players. If we get 90% of him even 40% of the time he'll score/assist more than Gabby, and probably just hit double figures, that would be hugely beneficial to us. If you get any more you're looking at a guy who will contribute 15 times a season, in assists and goals, that's something our relegation battling squad could really do with, especially on a short deal. He's a gamble for sure but he's not a write off, especially for teams looking to permanently move away from the bottom of the table. you'd rather have adebayor than gabby? both are inconsistent, one because of injuries and the other because he's a bellend, i hope we arent going anywhere near him The difference is that Adebayor scores goals pretty regularly when he's playing
  7. That's one way of looking at it, another is that Delph is one of the reasons we're not a shittier team
  8. 30 years old and played 23 games since 2010. I'm sure he's wonderful
  9. Who the hell calls their kid that
  10. They don't NEED to fill the homegrown quota, it's just that you can only have a given amount of non-homegrown players in your squad and the rest is to be filled by homegrown ones. If they had no intention of playing someone bought as homegrown then they're as well not bothering and just leaving the squad a man light
  11. Except he's not doing that in the way that we were debating, which was that he'd just sign up as a coach and as a result, write off his playing contract. Let's not get into revisionism now. or This one.
  12. Sorry, I don't have a list of former players turned coaches and their playing deal expiration dates, strangely enough. But plenty of players have retired before their deals expired and moved into coaching You can't name one but there are plenty? Come off it. go do your own research if it bothers you that much It's not my research, though. You seem to be playing this off as though you can't be bothered to substantiate your claim, when in reality we both know that you're wrong. Add Shay Given to the list as players to end a contract early to pursue coaching/management
  13. I don't agree because we do not know what budget TS has to work with. Given the players we are signing or are rumoured to be interested in I would guess it's more than we think. The big issue at Villa was the wage bill and we have spent every season since MON left trying to sort that out and it appears it's finally under control. Added to that we have no idea what new owner might provide as transfer budget if the sale happens, and before the end of the transfer window. I was originally quite bullish about Beneteke staying, less so now, even knowing that most of the Liverpool loving media is making most of it up. Our problem is who we replace him with? We won't get anyone cheaply as strikers always ago for a premium and selling clubs will know we have £32.5m less Ghenk's (spelling?) share in our pocket. I still think we should do everything in our power to keep him if that is possible. If he has a blistering season with us and at the Euros we will get more than £32.5m for him. Unless he signs a new contract with a higher release clause £32.5m seems to be the max we'll get for him (if that is actually the clause figure)
  14. So much wrong with this post
  15. He became very, very ill I was under the impression that was quite a while after he arrived, though to be fair I could be misremembering. He was in squads and featuring up until that point, then he disappeared
  16. Then asked if Colley wanted another 100 quid on Benteke 100 quid on him staying or going?
  17. I get the feeling the out will be confirmed alongside a handful of ins bought using the money this coming week
  18. Plus he lost half his money to his ex wife
  19. Randy's always had money, don't think dropping to his last 5 billion means otherwise. Its just he's never wanted t spend it. . Randy's worth is £640m Not sure where you're getting "his last 5 billion" from given that he's never had anything close to that
