    Gardening

Waaaay too cold. Just getting the first few green sprouting things so there are signs of life. Last weekend was basically everything prepped and ready. Planters, fencing, shed, summerhouse… basically if it wasn’t a plant or a wife it had a fresh coat of Wilko Willow Green.
  2. April 23rd 1976: the first Ramones tee shirt goes on sale in Asda.
  3. The Big Ben Bongs are also now delayed on DAB. Progress.
  4. Yes, agreed, it actually currently needs greater intervention. greater intervention could educate and coach some of the extremism out of the culture. We learn by example, and generations of kids are seeing that what gets things done, what makes you a man, is a scarf and a gun. But the UN can’t just be a nicer jailer. It needs to show Israel its a two way street and they can’t be a thieving murdering terror state either. There is still some work to do.
  5. I can’t imagine there would be many places in the world where you could steal a population’s land, kettle them in to a refugee camp for generations, make the act of getting bread or a shelter dependent on their connections with a militia, and then find 3,000 neutral local residents with no opinions about the situation themselves, or amongst their families.
  6. I’d like to imagine the murder of tens of thousands of refugees whilst denying food and turning off the water might have already lead to some scepticism.
  7. I see that the investigation in to Israel’s allegations against UNRWA have hit a bit of a snag. Israel has presented no evidence of any of its claims. Remember, we took Israel at its word and stopped funding to UNRWA in Gaza. They lie, and they lie, and they lie, and they lie….
  8. If I had a pound for every time I’ve been trapped in a sex dungeon sting, I could pay my own ransom.
  9. Well, this is the extent of my RSD, the prices are just not conducive to having much of a splurge. Which brings the SFA album vinyl to… they slowly creep towards the top of the ‘most in the collection by one band’ charts
  10. You haven’t missed much, he mostly just bangs on about sheds.
  11. I shall leave my rummage until tomorrow and see what’s left. the queue for Spillers started 10pm yesterday, so I think that’s best given a swerve.
  12. And there’s a Big Country album (Why The Long Face) as part of Record Store Day schizz, and unbelievably it appears to be fairly sensibly priced.
  13. Israel absolutely desperate to drag everyone in to their death cult war at the same time there’s a death cult in Iran and end of days cult in the U.S..
  14. We could flashlight each other. I’ll think of a code word…
  15. Why can’t the leaders actually grow a pair and just bomb each other?
  16. Thing is, at 20mph it’s going to take too long to bother leaving the promised land. It’s actually to try and stop people leaving.
  17. If only there was some sort of official www.gov.uk type website that he could refer to that said something clear and unambiguous like Then there wouldn’t be this grey area between the law and what he’s wished for in an angry dream.
  18. Jealousy is a terrible emotion and this thread reeks of it. With investment and luck and decent management selection, Birmingham City could rise up the league another 5, 10, 15, 20 places. They could in theory even be promoted. These are all things Aston Villa literally cannot do right now, regardless of any level of investment.
  19. That was one of the first examples I quoted. But he was quite specific it was only in Wales in 20mph areas where his self assessment rule applies. Apparently it’s because it’s not really a law, but he couldn’t elaborate on that. Fascinating when you come across these people that rate Facebook comments by Linda from Hull above what they could actually google on official government websites.
  20. Just the weird shit people are eager to believe because it suits their world view. We were having a conversation in the office on cars, speeding, and the 20mph speed limit. One guy, a senior individual with excellent technical knowledge and experience and qualifications, informs us that the 20mph in Wales isn’t legal if the sign has been vandalised. I point out that isn’t true, the law is 20mph by default, higher if you see a sign saying its higher. I’ve pointed out the government websites for Wales and UK state its 20mph by default, not just if you see an un vandalised sign. To which his response is ‘no, that’s not right’. So he’s right, and the government and the police are wrong and that’s the end of the matter. As far as he’s concerned, if a sign has been vandalised he can then assess and decide what speed he feels is reasonable. I reckon another 10 minutes and he’ll be telling me that under Magna Carta he’s a free man and not subject to vat.
  21. On this day in 1948, The Republic of Ireland Act was passed, declaring the description of the State was The Republic of Ireland. Subsequently, the Ireland Act 1949 passed through Westminster, acknowledging acknowledged that Ireland had “ceased to be part…of His Majesty's dominions” and therefore a member of the Commonwealth.” Its easy to forget how recent and young this whole relationship is. But anyway, yeah, happy 75th anniversary.
  22. It’s true, but it’s also the case that in reality the more things change the more they stay the same. History is always written by one side, the side that’s winning. Be it bots on twitter, pathe news, newspaper reporting, Shakespearean plays, or a tapestry.
