We are way off it today. You cannot go to Anfield and out in a half-hearted effort. Watkins was disgraceful for their second. He just stood and did nothing to stop TAA picking out a pass. So casual when the ball reaches him too. Bailey came on and looked like Bambi on ice first touch. Kamara playing slack passes but was unlucky to be booked when Nunez pretty much did the same to Konsa a minute earlier. Liverpool just want it more and are playing at a much higher tempo. Unai has a lot of work to do at half time. But, stay in it and who knows?

We've strengthened with real quality, got rid of some deadwood, brought academy money in to aid FFP - and in a way where can buy back if want to - and we've probably kept quite a bit back for the next stage. The development of Kellyman should not be forgotten either. I think he's going to feel like a new signing too.
-
Should be turned down if so. This lad is going to get a lot of game-time this season. He's going to start cup games and get sub minutes in the league at some stage.

If we could add a better back-up keeper, another right back, another centre back (for this season alone with Mings out), and left-sided attacker and, a decent striker as either starter or back-up, we would absolutely challenge for that top 4 spot - nailed on.
-
Fantastic signing. Turns players and attacks with pace and directness. Everything you want in that role behind the striker. Going to be a huge star.
-
Absolutely brilliant player. Yes, he got turned for their goal but, he will get used to the pace of the league and fill out accordingly. There no centre back in this league brings a ball out of defence with such calmness and brilliance as Pau does. What a player!

That goal was sensational. So many players contributing to it and often with sublime touches around players to beat their man. Emery had our Villa team playing some of the best football we have even witnessed for our club. We all need to be grateful for the man, win lose or draw, we won't find better coming here.

First half, Konsa burst forward into midfield, in their half, and made a tackle. The ball broke free and they broke forwards down our left. Kamara dropped into Konsa's position and Konsa chased back through the centre. When the ball got cleared forward, Konsa just naturally fell back into position as Kamara trotted forwards back into centre midfield. It was pure fluidity and beautiful to watch.

I'd really like Unai to make some changes now. Revan and Chambers for Konsa and Digne. Tielemans for McGinn and Duran for Watkins.

Maybe playing alongside Diaby again will help bring the best out in him?
-
Wouldn't mind us bringing in another former Emery player in Danjuma. He did well against us today in what is a terrible Everton team. He'd be a good back-up to Watkins.
-
And still on our wage bill

Did anyone see Calvert-Lewin in the warm-up? Missed a sitter header and shot at keeper from nowhere. Teriible player who steals a living. I said to my son that he'd go off after that clash with Emi as he's made of glass. Villa playing well. Diaby may be key to getting the best out of Bailey as he's done well after a dodgy start.

He needs to wake up. Absolutely abysmal today.
-
They didn't do a job on him, he was way out of position. He should've started wide right instead of Bailey and Coutinho start wide left.
-
We are going to miss Tyrone so much but, and I say this with the greatest respect, it could have been worse if it was Konsa. My reasoning? Only Carlos and Chambers play right sided centre back whereas Torres and Carlos can play left-sided. Torres has had a baptism of fire but showed flashes of brilliance. Konsa needs to stay alongside him. We need a back-up right back and two new forwards. Bailey needs to leave ASAP - he disgusts me. How can a physically fit man be knocked over so easily so often? He is a coward - an absolute coward.
-
This will be five. Both Wilson and Barnes always do well against us. We need strength in depth. Back up right back. Another two forwards of varying kinds.

Exactly mate. This new way of officiating games is going to end careers and I hope and pray that Tyrone's isn't the first. This is his third knee injury, at his age? Let's pray he make a full recovery but that looks horrendous

They were offside time three. How is that a goal?

I love the idea of Jaden terrorising Dan Burn on Saturday night. It will make those Newcastle fans reminisce about Saint-Maximim even more, leaving them crying sandy tears into their Newky brown's.
-
If he was good enough he would be given a chance by Unai. Plus, gotta make room for the next brother (Cole) to come through. Thanks for everything AJ and all the best for the future. If you improve enough maybe we'll see you return.
-
We are going to play a lot more minutes in games this season. I think that Unai is happy with this as it gives us more time to score
-
We've lost a huge part of our attacking threat for a decent amount of time with Ramsey, Buendia and Moreno being injured. I hope that we address that by bringing in a couple of loan deals at the top end of the pitch.
