  1. Whilst there does seem to be something in the Chester rumours, I’d much rather get someone in with a little more top flight experience and / or European or International experience, similar to what we did with Vlaar last summer. Whilst Chester is a little older than both Clark & Baker he doesn’t offer a significantly different profile in my opinion. Ideally I’ll like him to see out the remainder of his contract at Hull, get some Premier League experience next season and then we can re-visit any potential move in a years’ time. Not sure who we could get instead, would love Dragovic but whilst I think he is within our price range, I think he’s good enough to be expecting offers from Champions League sides which could be a problem.
  2. I’ll be surprised if Vydra makes any permanent move this summer. Udinese will be keen to hold onto him given that Di Natalie is likely to retire this summer or next. If Watford do go up then there’s a chance that the owners may let him stay there for another season but I think it’s more likely that he’ll be back in Italy.
  3. On the subject of German football, what do people make of Pierre Michel Lassonga at Hertha Berlin. He’s been out with an injury for much of the last year, but prior to that had impressed with 13 goals in Hertha’s 2010-11 promotion season and then 8 during their brief stay in the Bundesliga. I’ve only actually seen him play a couple of times, but he’s a German U-21 international, hardworking, strong aerially and a decent finisher both in the air and with the ball at his feet. I’m not sure how likely it is that we will be in for a striker during the summer, but if Lambert is looking for someone other than Bowery to provide cover for Benteke then Lassonga could be worth a look. It’s likely that he will move on this summer, with a €5-6m price being mentioned. I think that would offer decent value given his age.
  4. I've seen Kjaer being mentioned a bit over the last couple of pages. How has he been performing at Wolfsburg this season? I saw plenty of him when he was at Roma a couple of years ago and he was really struggling, made a lot of mistakes which ultimately cost him a permanent move. Personally I think we’ll need someone steadier at centre back given how error prone the rest of the defence is.

    Hey

Hi all. Just thought I’d give a bit of information about myself. Despite my old man trying to get me to follow his beloved West Ham, I’ve been supporting Villa from the early nineties ever since I saw Dwight Yorke working his magic on Match of The Day. Until the age of about 14 the only game I used to go and watch each season was West Ham at home, but after that I managed to get a few mates together for season tickets up until us all leaving for University. That was during the O’Leary years, so not the best time to be a Villa fan, and that along with my general disenchantment of English football and moving away from the area led to losing a bit of my connection to Villa. However it’s been re-kindled this year with what Lambert has been trying to do . Ignoring the fact that we can’t defend, I love the way we try and play. It’s great to see a British core to the team with a few youth team graduates as well as a reasonable transfer and wage structure moving us towards a much more sustainable financial footing. I expect the summer and next season to bring more interest and excitement. Other than Villa, I’m a keen follower of AS Roma and Serie A in general. There are plenty of parallels between the two at the moment, with Roma also having sensible American owners and plenty of young players as well and a similar inability to defend for much of this season.
