  1. Look at is this way, Learner, unfortunately, sold us to a person who turned out not to be what we hoped or rolled the dice and came up badly, least he had the decency to sell us before the wheels fell completely off, although it was pretty damm close, and to people who seem made for the job. Ultimately i bare him no ill will now we have got back to where we should be
  2. ~Well this is escalating quickly and not in a good way
  3. Its gonna be a long long season and winters here already
  4. I cried when i heard we'd lost to Penarol in the World Club Championship
  5. Not quite, but Messrs Butler, Iommi, Osbourne and Ward have just boarded an aircraft that is now rolling on departure to Helsinki..... Isiah Osbourne's now in Black Sabbath is he? wondered where he had got too
  6. With McLeish we all knew it would be a disaster With Ole it could be a success or it could be a disaster..........personally on this choice im prepared to go along with the ride
  7. Prefer choices Lambert, Martinez or Rodgers Outside/Leftfield Choice I wouldnt say no to Hoddle or Southgate Worst Case Bruce/McCarthy Suspect we will end up with Curbishley
  8. I feel pretty confident hes gone just whether its today or tomorrow, personally i hope today DING DONG THE WITCH IS (NEARLY) DEAD
  9. Thats a pretty damming statistic for a so called proven premier league manager :|
  10. Standing on the holte in the 80s under one of the floodlights on my little stool that me dad made me. Watching Tony Morley then Mark Walters the Tony Daley flying down the wing. Standing with the same people every week, no idea who they were but there was drunk guy, casual racism guy and old bugger guy who once when we were 8-0 up against Exeter in a League Cup game said it was the worst he had ever seen us play, but then he said the same every week.
  11. Hes not the messiah.............hes a very naughty boy
  12. All i can say is im appalled and when it all goes wrong as i feel it will the board can not say the fans didnt warn them I want him to succeed I really do..........I just dont see it............we are a club now on the downward..........not the up.............and I hate to say it and its thoroughly depressing
  13. I'm the same. 50+ years a Villa fan, so I'm not a teenage FM-warrior who thinks we should be able to get Mourinho and Messi and win the Champs League in three years. I'm a realist. But this isn't realism, this is suicide - on a PR level, a financial level and a football level. Last year was bad after MON dropped us in it. Having lost Milner and having to scrabble for a manager at the last minute, I was fairly happy with Houllier, but he was on a hiding to nothing with his health, the fan hostility and sheer bad luck. The season was a write-off. This year though, I was optimistic. We had plenty of time to get a new boss in before the transfer window, and there were plenty of good managers already free or definitely gettable. I'd chuckled at my Sheffield United mates in their anguish at having an ex-Owls boss foisted on them, because I knew that nothing similar could happen at Villa. As many people have said though, it's not just the ex-sha tag that's the problem - although given the inevitable fan hostility, that would be reason enough not to do it, even for a very good manager. But he's not a good manager, he's an anti-football failure. This is a disaster on every level. There is a slim chance that we'll be proven wrong and he'll be a surprise success, but I'm not holding my breath. The "Premier league experience only" stipulation was plain stupid. Getting someone with experience of doing things differently would have been a sound idea. But we still had options - a big name with a good track record (which would cost more), or an young up-and-coming boss with something to prove - Martinez was a good shout that didn't come off, but I'd have seen some point in an Owen Coyle or a Simon Grayson. But this is the worst of all worlds. They literally couldn't have made a worse choice if they'd tried. I'm appalled, embarrassed and depressed. Spot on Mike. +1 from a fan of 30 years + standing........i just find this entire one baffling and whilst i will continue to support the club i do now see it on a downward spiral not an upwards trend
  14. The only thing I really got against having Martinez as boss will be that at 37 he will be the first Villa Manager younger than me and lord now i feel old!!
