Even then I thought he was only on 12-13 goals! Chelsea didn't sign him until three games into the season so 20 goals from 27 prem games is even better than what Lampard was producing in his heyday.

Cole Palmer on 20 league goals....how on earth did that happen?! Chelsea must've been awarded about 15 penalties this season even if he is a very good player.
  3. Rotherham are poor but they did beat Millwall at home a few weeks ago and only lost late on to Swansea so it will be a close game I think although SHA got more in the final third which will probably be the difference. It's certainly a game you could see them messing up if they still had Venus as caretaker. If they don't beat Rotherham though and Huddersfield win their next two then Huddersfield actually go four points clear of SHA with one game left so the situation could still get desperate again going into the final day. Think Sheff Weds is the best hope at this point. With their fixtures left I think they could get another two wins so SHA would need to get up to 50 points in that scenario.
  4. Thought they were going to beat our 8-0 down there at one stage. It's a tired old team for a tired old club at present.
  5. Kluivert and Sinistierra went off with injuries v Man. United so if it's even 10 days they won't be available against us and they already have others like Tavernier and Semenyo out so will be less threatening on the counter than in the December game. Solanke is in excellent form though so we'll need to be on it defensively against him.
  6. One points total that isn't being mentioned that would state our incredible progress over the last five years. There's still a small chance we could surpass the points total we gained when we went up from the championship (76 points). To do that with eight fewer games and such a higher standard of opposition on a weekly basis would be ridiculous. Would need to win the last five games to achieve that though. Shows how far we've come in a relatively short period of time.
  7. Less games to do it now though. They certainly need to be beating Chelsea I think rather than just play out a draw with them so will be big pressure going into that and they didn't react well to it last time with the two sendings off.

Just sums up where they are given they couldn't score in two of those games. They miss endless chances at key points in games and have a very soft centre in the backline when you look at that late goal they conceded at Sheffield United.

They really don't have a better squad than us. Watkins is better than anything they have upfront, miles better keeper and backline. Cole Palmer will win their POTY by a complete landslide but he plays in Bailey's position who's not far behind him with his goals and assist record (and he doesn't take penalties for us either). We won't just finish above Chelsea again as for the second successive season it will probably be a difference of over 15 points. Last season it was 17 points and could be the same this time even if they get up to 55 points. The FA cup match was a disappointment but ultimately our priorities lie in other competitions this season. Was also a bizarre opening ten minutes where basically we refuse to mark any of their players in the penalty area and they exposed that so would expect much more concentration in the league match.

Those were the hotels Ken Bates built to satisfy his ego in the 90s aren't they? Chelsea were going to sell them in 2003 as they'd have gone the same way as Leeds did if they weren't making CL that year, would've been a big fire sale of players aswell.
  11. Can't fit any game in. Were due to play Man. City but cancelled with them in the cup. Their other game in hand v Chelsea but can't move that forward as they're playing Man. City of course. It's been a bizarre season for Spurs in how few games they've played. We played more cup games than they've played all season by the end of September! We've shown we can be very competitive in two different competitions so I don't really see Spurs that much of a threat in the league next year if they get in CL with the way they play as playing three times a week will be too much.
  12. Had a brilliant season. Totally kept Saka under wraps and fantastic cross for the first goal. I'm actually interested what the plan was if he was sold in August as rumoured? I assume the Athletic or John Percy will do a big piece on us once the season is finished and I'd like to see Digne get a paragraph or two. From what I remember we wanted to flog him to Saudi land and replace him with Marcos Acuna. We also assumed Moreno would be back fully fit by mid September and going off pre season another plan was clearly to have Pau Torres playing some games at LB depending on opposition. As it happens Moreno was rushed back too early and didn't start playing regularly until December and really hasn't played that well. Acuna had endless injuries at Sevilla and only featured in 15 league games. Pau at LB would've been a real waste aswell given how comfortable he's looked at CB after the dodgy first few games. So hanging onto Digne for one more year was a great football decision.
  13. Our away record in London is insane aswell (pretty much since Emery came in). Only West Ham we haven't beaten this season. Just need to avoid defeat at Palace and we'd be unbeaten inside the M25 all season so no idea when that last happened, probably decades ago.
  14. Great post. Raya seemed to shrink for Ollie's goal making himself really small. This is the part of the season where Emi will turn it on as he will know how close we are to achieving the goals we promised him when he signed. Going to be heart stopping but you feel the last missing piece is him winning us a penalty shootout now.
  15. I still actually think Bournemouth is still a must win. It depends what happens at Lille I think. Another good performance and result to get through and we'll be buzzing going into the Bournemouth game. Elimination and it will be a flattish atmosphere so we might start slow and that's risky how Bournemouth can press and attack with pace. Game where the narrative has changed is Chelsea at home I'd say. If we beat Bournemouth we can sit back a bit in that one, wait for them to come at us, hopefully defend better than we did in the cup and then hit them on the counter. As said over the other page we have a chance to build a 9 point lead and big GD advantage on Spurs before they next play so let's continue to be ruthless and give them little chance to get that back even if they will have loads of games in hand. Also if we beat Chelsea they'll be way out of contention for anything so Poch really can't afford to lose to Spurs at home otherwise he probably won't even make the end of the season.
  16. It was 8/8 G + A in the league when he came on so guessing the Europa league added on. Nearly 30 goal contributions is a brilliant season from any wide player. Saka's scored 18 in league and cup so Leon probably isn't too far behind that.
  17. Thought he was very raw in his early game but as said he's adapted so quickly even from his level in the West Ham game and now looks like he's been playing at this level for years. A very clever signing especially for the fee paid.
  18. Both are too good to just be fighting relegation battles. Olise nearly went to Chelsea last summer, mentioned as a Man. United target now. Eze is a quality player. Just hope he doesn't go somewhere where he warms the bench as that would be a complete waste. West Ham might look to him to replace Paqueta perhaps.
  19. They play Chelsea and Liverpool away in less than 72 hours so can't see them doing much at Anfield. Chelsea is a must win now for sure for them.
  20. I'm still a bit bemused why their fans boo him so much. He broke into their team and played a huge role in their only trophy in seven years now. Straight after Arteta decided to sell him ahead of Leno (who then left the next season) so he'd have been understandably disappointed by that given he'd been at Arsenal a decade at that point. I get he said something but I can't believe it was that derogatory so strange it's so hostile towards him whenever he goes back to playing there. Fabregas was still getting applause when he was playing for Chelsea.
  21. Certainly need an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus. Isak would be a great fit for them. Beyond that they're really not far away given how good their backline has been. I think issue for them is Saka simply hasn't been as good as last season. Aside from his constant falling over he was completely invisible in the second half and Martinelli has had a bit of a write off season with injuries. The trouble for Arsenal is this. They're good, very good infact but they're not quite 90 point good and while Guardiola remains at Man. City that is always the points bar you need to hit to have a serious chance of winning the league. Arsenal will probably finish on 86/87 points so missing that extra that Man. City have.
  22. There is no dropping into Europa from CL from next season. That has thankfully been scrapped now.
  23. Probably closest in recent times was when we played Blackburn in May 2017 with nothing to play for and they were battling SHA to avoid relegation. Was a topic on here at the time and IIRC the reaction was pretty mixed. In the end we lost and barely did anything that game although of course many of our away performances under Steve Bruce were like that in those dark days. That feels like 70 rather than 7 years ago now.
  24. I think in defence of them they've qualified enough for CL in the last 15 years for it not to feel as monumental as it would be for us. And Arsenal haven't won the league for two decades now so they want that drought to continue as long as possible. Also still likely 5th will come into play in the next week.
  25. Top striker performance. Was feeding on scraps but his passing was good when the ball came to him and took his chance incredibly well. Could've easily scored first half aswell. If Southgate watches all that and still picks Rashford and Toney ahead of him.....
