  1. Atletico Madrid is the big result needed as Dortmund are dangerous floaters. I think the relatively simple formula though is we, Man. City, Arsenal (looks less likely after how they plateaued second half) and Atletico Madrid all progress and 5th is as good as secure for CL.
  2. Who could it be when we actually won the first leg?! I can sort of understand the OTT posts after games we throw away like Man. United at home and Brentford as those were weekends where we handed the initiative to Spurs and they took advantage but all it's taken is one great weekend and now we're back as big favourites to get 4th based on league position and respective run ins. I think the main suspects will pipe down now but make no mistake they'll be back on here next season whining all the time if we have a slow start in the league and not good enough for CL if we don't win many games in that.
  3. Spurs-Chelsea got cancelled when the league cup final was on. We also played the weekend when FA cup QFs were on. Spurs actually have a 15 day break now. Kind of feel that will be an issue for them as you'd want to get that defeat yesterday out of their system as soon as possible. We have a chance now to be 9 points clear of them by winning our next two home games. I really couldn't see them reeling us in from that far back even if they would have games in hand.
  4. Just a World class manager/coach. 18 months ago we had a complete chancer managing us and a world of difference in tactical approach with largely the same squad.
  5. We don't play him there every week, he's often out wide or the pressing midfielder which I just don't think suits his skillset and is an awkward fit generally. What he did show in a high pressure game against World class players he can sit deep and control play just like Luiz so that shows there is life after Doug or next season we can rest him a bit more if we sign another midfielder who can play wider.
  6. Thought tactically that was one of the best games he's ever played for us. This is where Emery has improved him so much as before he was all 100mph charging around the pitch and rushing passes and needlessly giving the ball away. He knew today he'd have to sit in the pivot with Youri and he did it effortlessly. Don't think he gave it away once in the second half. Textbook away performance by the captain. Fit for the CL.
  7. West Ham is just mathematics aswell. We're 15 clear of them with 5 left?
  8. Sensational stuff. Win our next two home games and I think we can just draw our way to 4th as Spurs will be very unlikely to catch GD with what they have left.
  9. I've always liked Joachim Anderson and he's just put in a sensational performance at Anfield, one of the best I've seen from a CB all season. Think he has two years left and think he can play both sides so that's the sort of useful signing where we could switch more to a back 3 next season if required.
  10. Palace are always a team who can take points off the top ones. Even for as poor as they've been this season they've taken 7 points from Liverpool and Manchester away games. We took 0.
  11. He only pulled out at Man. City because he was ill so I don't see it. Also Emi's had a couple of dodgy games going back to Emirates and let in some soft goals so he's due a World class game there and Thursday was a nice warm up with some of the saves he made.
  12. That high line we played at Old Trafford was criminal second half (especially given we weren't at full strength). Likes of Brentford/Bournemouth get it right, have the defence deep so it negates their pacy wide players, relentlessly press them in midfield and then you have pace upfront to get chances. It's odd Unai hasn't really changed his approach as what he did in the first game worked perfectly. Since then we're now back on a four game losing streak again v them so need to be expecting better tactics for the games next season. They keep on exploiting our high line with the goals they score.

Aren't they getting 3-4m every game Broja isn't playing or something ridiculous. I think a good thing with Chelsea's lack of standing now is they can't bully other teams into paying way over the odds fees because they're getting some of the best training development in the prem. They could get away with that winning the European cup and finishing top 3 but not now when they could easily finish bottom half for two successive years.

His Dad used to play for Wimbledon in the late 90s and married Lucy Alexander who presenter Homes under the Hammer for years! I think Southampton are more obsessed with funding Man. City FFP. They must've given Man. City nearly 100m in last two seasons for youth players and even now the likes of Edozie aren't really regulars for them. Maybe that will change with Jason Wilcox joining Man. United.
  15. Chelsea above them if they win their two games in hand which is as damming of their season as you can get. They could've easily been bottom half a few times this season but they always seem to pick up a few wins when in danger of doing that and same will probably happen again as they have Burnley and Sheffield United coming up. Insane aswell we have six games left and they have a negative GD, last time that happened must've been when they went down in 1973/74.
  16. Are people missing that Arsenal will win the league if they win their final 7 games. I don't think they're going to be resting half their team. It will likely just be Trossard in for Martinelli or Zinchenko in for Kiwor. Saka, Odegaard, Rice, Saliba, Gabriel, White...they'll all be starting v us I think you can guarantee.
  17. I think their plan will be to start strong, go 2-0 up and then sub off key players around the 70th minute mark. You get the feeling we probably will see that as not a total disaster and do the same aswell. We shouldn't be starting with a scratch team though, that sends the wrong signals for the second game running. I do think Bailey has hit a bit of a lull last six weeks and Diaby has generally been better in most of the games so think he'll get the start as our wide attacker to support Ollie. Feels like a game Moreno will come in for given we'll need to defend for long spells on Thursday so Digne is more logical but can't see Moreno v Saka fills me with much confidence based on his performances in 2024. We'll do well not to concede three goals. Hopefully we have some threat at the other end.
  18. O'Hare going up to SPL at this stage of his career, strange one as you'd think a team with limited funds like Everton or Palace would be interested.
  19. We're the only team in the top 12 they've beaten away from home....
  20. Muric doing an Enckleman. Burnley really should've got in an experienced keeper last summer, that's one of the things that has relegated them. Wasn't there a link to Heaton but I guess he's in semi retirement now so isn't too bothered about playing anymore.
  21. Not really, same happened last season. Spurs were terrible in the run in hence we finished above them despite being way back, think Spurs were still 3rd as late as March before Conte had his meltdown. Liverpool were also like Chelsea/Man. United this season before they had a late rally and won five in a row but that still wasn't good enough to even take Newcastle to the final day. Generally teams that finish 6th and 7th finish around 58-60 points so Newcastle and Man. United are pretty much on course to do that with the tallies they currently have.

Selling all of Gallagher, Maatsen, Chalobah and that will get 100m on its own. Broja will be more difficult to shift given his lack of impact at Fulham.
  23. I think Stockport will try to sign him permanently. One of those where we put a big sell on clause in the deal as you never know....
  24. Camera panned in on him after the first goal and he was getting out of his seat singing whatever they were. He is certainly Xia in loving the attention he's getting from owning them.
  25. I assume there's no release clause in the Isak deal he signed? He's someone who needs to be playing CL every season given his talent and output. You put him in the Arsenal team and they win the league. Even more so given he played with Odegaard for a year at Real Sociedad so already have that connection. That would derail Newcastle losing him as Wilson is constantly injured now and someone they'll look to move on in the summer.
