  1. What's Dean Smith done to make him worth considering when Bruce leaves?

Pardew for me. Good record at this level and has Premiership experience, whereas Smith has none.

We'd run into the same problem with Bruce if he got us up, can't do it at the top level, so sacking him now just brings forward the inevitable.

He won't get us up though, which is unforgivable given the resources/players available.

    Bruce out!

    Not for a Championship forward.

It is, fees regularly go into double figures now, for the sides at the top end at least. He's a goal scorer and they come at a premium.

Indeed, however the ex-bluenose thing must be a factor. We spent 6 years calling him names, and will give him less leeway if results are bad.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We've got to think bigger though and he's got a good record at this level. He's a safe pair of hands.

Almost nothing in football is as daft as the idea of getting 'one of us'.  Has almost never worked anywhere.  And he would, if he came, be judged on his performances.  If they were poor his 'allegiance' would mean nothing.

My problem with him is that doing well with Blues means pretty much nothing.  And I don't mean out of some petty dislike of them , I don't suffer from that. (or benefit from it  whichever "!) - it is just a totally different kettle of fish in what was expected, what is regarded as progress, how teams play against them compared to us (which allows him a particular style) and the fact he hasn't had anyone promoted from this League yet.

In fact I wonder if he wasn't 'Villa' would he figure on many lists ?

I didn't say appoint him because he's Villa, I just pointed it out as some would no doubt say they didn't want him as he's played and managed the shit down the road, which is irrelevant in this case. I'd say his performances have pretty good given he's working with **** all. The list of possible replacements for RDM is so ordinary, I'd rather give a younger manager like Rowett a chance.

Dont dispute that , the worry is what happens when things arent going so well?

Who gives a shit if he played and managed the crap down the road, he's Villa and the short sighted amoungst us would do well to remember.

Its a risk, he's not had a job with the pressure he'll have with us, but he's done really well upto now and he'd be my choice, good young manager.

Get him before Bournemouth go knocking to replace Howe when he links up with the national side.

  6. Whilst it's early, it'll be play offs at best and that's at a push. We've made little to no progress since the season the started. The side is top heavy, loaded with quality forwards, but they're starved of service due to our non existent midfield. We look poor at the back, little to no protection from midfield again. Baker has got to start playing though, take the armband off Elphick if need be. Sides just walk through us, far too easy. We're just going to stumble to a mid table finish with RDM, so go get Rowett, stick with him and we may have the next Eddie Howe.

    Get rid. Steve Bruce?

Agree but Gary Rowett. Good young manager. The short sighted amongst us that will moan about him having played and managed the shit down the road, get over it, he's Villa anyway if rumours are to be believed.

The gap is not too big at all. This league always changes throughout the season. Newcastle may run away with the league but there are still another two places to go up.

It is when you're stuttering like we are, meaning the gap is likely to get bigger before we finally find out feet and then throw in a possible managerial change.

He can't be given much longer. He wasn't expected to hit the ground running given what's gone on with the club recently, but we expected better than this.

Changing managers all the time is a joke. Calling for his head is crazy, reactionary stuff. He needs time, as long as we dont go down, give him time. At least we are not losing, we can build on this, familiarity will bring a pattern and wins will follow.

I fear a few more lows before we kick on but by the end of October we should be moving forward. Lets hope RdL is ok.

We're already pretty low as it is, anymore is unacceptable. Whilst I understand what you're saying, that we need continuity given last seasons disaster and all the changes on and off the pitch, but given the cash that's been spent, play-offs is a minimum and we shouldn't settle for anything less, we've bought some big players in and we should be doing better. We need someone that's going to toughen us up as the same problems are rearing their head, being out battled, not killing off games etc.

If we are in same position in next 5 games I agree

Nothing will change, the gap is already too big, our rivals have momentum, despite plenty of changes themselves, namely Newcastle, but we can't find our feet.

  11. Hopefully Tony won't tolerate the usual we were unlucky lines, we've got the players, RDM just isn't the man for the job, completely uninspiring manager, Rowett has worked wonders with the shit he's got down the road, he could get the best out of our players, go get him and derail them words removed in the process.

Despite 50 million being spent in general i see no change from last season.

This team for me lack the will or the fight.

RDM needs to instil this or get out.

I see technical ability, I see pretty football........ I see no grit determination or passion to win the game.

I think we are all deluding ourselves

I agree. I still see a lot of our old problems rearing their head, such as being out battled, not killing off games etc.

Its not helped by having a powder puff midfield. We need Jed/Tish back in there as soon as.

The guy is an idiot. I mean you would have to be an idiot to sink money into a basket case like our club.

Football is popular with the communist party at the moment so this is why we are seeing all the interest (there's not much appetite from the general population - the tv deal for the PL is one of the poorest money earners in the region). Should football China fail to progress in the next few years, then interest from the party will decline and poor Tony will be left holding a club with a negative balance sheet rocking up massive losses every year.

It will end in tears. I'm looking forward to what happens afterwards. We may be in such a dire position that fan ownership may be the only alternative.

Get the legal team on this guy Tony. He's a non-believer.

Very poor in my opinion. We have too many passengers in this team and they're both in the midfield. We won't be promoted with both Gardner and Westwood in the team.

    Agreed

Gardner not good enough. He gave the ball away twice in the space of a few minutes and the second resulted in a goal.

  15. I agree with Dr Xia  The days of this club being short changed are gone, whether that be by other clubs, our managers and players. I don't care how much has changed, it needs to stop being used as an excuse, these are highly paid professionals we're talking about, so start producing or move on and we'll find someone that will. We've shelled out enough to expect at least play offs and we're already falling behind, so give RDM another 10 games, if we're still struggling to get results, move him on, although I don't expect him to get that long.
