Fair enough at the moment i cant see someone who is depressed because of certain important events as having an illness/sickness..... They are depressed because of their emotional attachment to those events. I see a difference between someone who has lost the wife they truly loved to someone who finds little happyness in life and nearly seems to make all his problems worse.

So you believe what Dean Windass has is depression. therefor you believe he has an illness as depression is an illness. right? Im really not trying to stir anything or troll if thats the right thing to say but you see this is where i dont like the term illness. Dont get me wrong i know there are many people who are depressed as a state of mind and maybe that can be stated as an illness and i feel for those that have it, i would nearly consider myself the other way round, luckily. However Dean Windass wouldnt be depressed if these things didnt happen to him. He couldnt/cant cope, is that not different? I am nearly ignoring the fact that it looks like he has caused his own depression - having the rift with his father, breaking his marriage....... so is everyone who is depressed, does everyone who kill themselves have this illness?

ok so this topic is becoming about depression rather than Dean so as i would say i am quite niave on the subject and i consider myself nearly too rational in my thinking. I have a friend in my group who we believe suffer from a mild depression and i try help with that best i can being the person he would turn to. would someone be able to inform me or point me in the right direction in the thoughts behind depression being an illness. i mean does that mean anyone can get it? I dont believe i will ever have this problem (maybe im wrong or you believe i could be). whats the difference between depression and being down... to me it seems in alot of cases depression is caused by things (money, opposite sex, loss of lives). I mean can a footballer loosing his money and fans causing him to be depressed be described as depression? I do not mean to offend anyone but a lack of knowledge can do that sometimes

Well i may have lied just to try and win my bet! But i have been known to enjoy a couple of moments with an ex from time to time. Then again everyone differs. I get along with all my ex's. out of the last 3... 2 i live in different countries to (ones in the states and one is in Ireland) and the third we live too different lives to date. So i see the one from Ireland some weekends and iv met with the other a couple of times after. I have also stayed with the american for a couple of days while i was in the states. Id much rather that than a one night stand. Theres no awkwardness. You know actually what flicks their switch and they know exactly what flicks yours. theres no false pretenses/ promises or lies. Its just good fun. Theres obviously a little more to it than just sex (not alot but a little, for me anyway) but we both know the situation and we arent hurting anybody. I dont want that with a stranger, i want to know a person before i sleep with them. Ahh the serial killer. I firmly believe that there is too much made about types when really its just about people getting on and having a laugh and sometimes you can get that from the person you least expected it from. The whole type thing can often narrow peoples choices down too much and they never find the right person instead of just being open minded and giving everyone a fair crack of the whip. Like you said as long as Dante is himself he'll be fine if he's looking for something long term, if he's looking for just a fumble then he can be whoever he wants. Dante, if you are looking to get your confidence up you should read a book called The Game by Neill Strauss its a bit cheesy, over the top and unbelievable at times but some of the stuff in there can help you, errr *stutter* so ive been errr told. I was with you till the End then you came up with 'The Game' Dont get me wrong it was a brilliant read but its not a self help book. It might show you some of the things you do when flirting that you didnt realise you do. Read the book sure, but using its techniques to pick up women will not get you a girlfriend/relationship which is what we believe Dante is looking for otherwise hed go and smash his ex in the gloriousness of ex sex!

If we amend "sleep with" to any sort of sexual touching, i guess im in, VT deserves a tenner in your honour for being mentaly the strongest guy in the world!
