  1. Felt the need to come in to vent over YET ANOTHER terrible refereeing performance. Hopefully it won't cost us today, but I'm definitely losing faith in the 'things evening themselves out over the season' principle.
  2. There's a Chinese in Edinburgh called Golden Ho's... it always amuses me.
  3. A shit day just got even shitter! Although I think it makes my worries seem inconsequential when looked at in this context. Never met, but shared a like-minded chat or two. RIP Paddy
  4. How the **** is that not a card for Howard!!! Useless yellow bastard. :@
  5. Good result, shame the Beeb couldn't be arsed saying anything about the game for the final 30!!!!!! mins.
  6. despite being head and shoulders above the rest of our team and doing arguably more than bent so far... I think we're watching a different game mate. I'll admit he's playing moderately better than the very low bar he's set himself, but it still comes back to the job of a striker (even more so in a 4-5-1) is to score goals or create them from the front. He does neither on a regular basis. he's put both ireland and nrc through on goal! he's playing as well as he's ever played for us, he's isolated and has little support but still holding it up well chasing everything and bringing others in to play obviously still cant shake his pantomime villain tag Fair point with the first part... as i said, compared to his usual low standard though etc. For a team of our calibre this isn't good enough. I think his ability to hold play up is VERY overated. Yes he's been isolated to a point today, but even when not i feel he gives away posession far too cheaply. He's been at the club long enough to have built up an understanding with the rest of the team, and barring the outrageous suggestion that it's the other players' fault for not reading the play :winkold: i think he's shown he can't do that job for Villa. I was one of the few that was willing to give him his chance when he arrived, but he's long since lost my support. Also, Halsey is an utter word removed. I can't remember a decent performance from him in a Villa match. Although, i've seen a lot worse!!

  8. Also... 100 pages of photography!! Good stuff people.
  9. Great concept! Might have to try that one myself. However the photoshop skills in these leave a lot to be desired IMHO. Five or ten more minutes feathering and blending would've made a big difference to the overall quality. The one you've posted is certainly one of the better ones. Good find though Kev. Cheers.
  10. It depends what camera you use really. You need to diffuse (or limit) the flash in most cases, which can be done in many ways... bouncing, using a stofen, turning it down manually etc. If you use a compact that has no flash control, a good way of taking that 'rabbit in the headlights' look out of flash based portraiture is to use a cigarette paper over the in-built flash. You need to experiment with the thickness/no. of times you fold it, but it can work quite well. As for Elements... i could never condone using a site such as piratebay (Students get pretty good discounts on Adobe stuff if your morals don't permit other options)
  11. Love the first two James. In fact there have been some great photos on here in the last few pages. Haven't been on here in a while, so was tempted to post a page full of comment, constructive criticism and pics, but i'll limit myself to avoid flooding the thread. Recently branched out into wedding photography, so would like to post a couple of reportage style shots from a recent wedding. Interested to know what you guys (and gals) think. Especially those of you that shoot weddings (Damien).
  12. ... also comes with extra pockets by the look of it!
  13. Not sure how useful the crumpler you're looking at will be for other uses, as it seems to be one of the type directed at a strictly photographic usage. However, i have a crumpler (something about a rooster... stupid product names *rolls eyes*) and it's great... in fact i have a laptop bag made by them too. They're virtually indestructable, and are really well designed. It's worth checking physically if your laptop will fit, as mine was bigger than the dimensions given, but fits nice and snugly into the pouch in the camera bag. While they're both expensive brands, i think they're the only two companies i'd go near for this type of bag. As i say, i've owned Lowe bags in the past, and they're fantastic, however i'd be tempted to edge toward the crumpler. Don't know about that model, but mine isn't waterproof. The material is fairly thick, so is fine for a quick shower, but i guess you'd want something a little more repellant.
  14. So they didn't try to pull any section 44 nonsense on you then? I only found out about this today, or i would've gone down with the camera yesterday for the protests. Probably better i didn't for the sake of getting into arguments with people 'just doing their job'. I'm sure they loved the 'line photography' excuse, just ambiguous enough for a DNA sample i suspect. Call me a cynic, but i'd say you're wasting your time asking what they'll do with the info. On a lighter note, love the top one... lines indeed.
  15. Nice! Weird place for bees though eh. Still liking the insect world i see Cheers for that link Cat, that's exactly the sort of thing i was looking for. Went back to the place above again today and got a few more pics, so i'll post them when i get a chance. A very strange sound coming from an air vent in one building, bit creepy. Almost like an intermittent brushing sound of a stiff brush on concrete! (building was fully boarded up)
  16. I think i have more off topic posts in this thread than on!
  17. In light of recent classification regarding which particular animals fall under the terminology of 'Monkey', i regretfully withdraw my application for funding. I shall also withdraw my application for the rights to use the Top Trumps brandname until further investigation of the practicality of not being afforded my given choice of primate.
  18. Firstly I require clarification as you appear to agree with me, but then state the opposite; Dog-Monkey = Monkey with Dog head, or Dog with Monkey head? I feel the respective breeds should be first decided upon, as this could significantly affect the numbers needed in any given combination of Dog-Monkey/Monkey-Dog. If I remember correctly from my top-trumps, a poodle has a size value of 3, but an annoyance value of 9 and an agility of 7. If compared to the dachsund of size 4, annoyance 1 and agility 2, you can see that there is a huge disparity between breeds. The same can be said of the primates too I believe. Consider for instance, the Gorilla-Poodle. Will the poodle be able to lift a gorilla head? Does this constitute a default win for the Poodle-Gorilla? Or are there specific 'weights' that separate the Dog-Monkey/Monkey-Dog into more acceptable pairings? Given the almost infinite possibilities of the Dog-Monkey/Monkey-Dog combo, I would hereby like to apply for funding from your establishment to further research this field and in time file an in-depth report (hopefully in the form of spreadsheet)[possibly as a set of top-trumps which I shall call the 'Joseph Mengele' special edition] which will shed some much needed light on this under explored field.
  19. Assuming that when you say monkey-dogs you are meaning a dog with the head of a monkey, and then when you say dog-monkeys you refer to a primate with a canine noggin. I postulate that one would only require... 1 Monkey-Dog to take out the Dog-Monkey and 4 Dog-Monkeys to take out a single Monkey-Dog
  20. 7 Seven of these bears should do it i think.
