  1. I thought it was two from the premier league but overseas loans were on top of this?
  2. I think improvement on what we’ve got is the reserve of the Summer window, along with a reserve keeper. sitting second, level on points with Liverpool is great advertising for January. Champions League will open doors and increase our financial clout in the summer so keep the powder dry. Zaniolo needs to display his value, but could be a solid signing,I hope we can sort a deal for Lenglet too, but RB, Keeper, midfield and Forwards all need strengthening with good quality if we are to kick on.
  3. Guendouzi would be a great squad addition, as would Dani Ceballos. Agree on Werner too. How many loans can we get?
  4. Wow, this one is difficult. Went with Luiz as he runs midfield and transitions so well, big improvement this season, adds the consistency (along with Kamara) and rhythm to our team. Set pieces, goals and penalties make the difference. However, There is a big case for Konsa who is most improved, and a genuine all rounder whose game with the ball at his feet is improving game on game - for me, the best English CB at this moment; Watkins has solidified his importance to how we play, added crucial assists and looks like he might hit 18 league goals plus from open play. Also big shouts to Kamara and Pau who add real quality and broaden our playing style and ability; and Martinez who is back to his best and adds so much authority and confidence to our defence. This seems unfair on McGinn, Bailey, Diaby and Digne who have had excellent seasons so far. The improvement wrung out of these players is astonishing.
  5. Thought he was OK today, has some good range of passing.
  6. Very possibly, certainly our most improved. He is twice the player from last season. Konsa and Pau are some double act these days. For me he is the best English defender at the moment, sure Southgate can’t see it though.
  7. Konsa has become a key player and the complete defender. Passing and vision not quite as good as Pau, but his all round game and defensive quality is supreme. Our most improved player, and that’s some accolade in this team.
  8. The only thing Unai was to blame for was not shaking it up sooner - thought he waited far too long. This is on the players: basic errors, not completing passes, being too casual, kicking long and blind clearances which we have rarely done so far this season. The % possession wasn’t too bad but felt far worse. We let them trigger their runs from deep to good effect. Carlos was the main culprit, silly fouls and sloppy play. But we just didn’t stretch them and they are a poor side - determination got them this result today, they wanted it more.
  9. Poor couple of games. We are great at full strength but really missed Pau and Kamara that give us that solidity to build our game around. McGinn or Luiz couldn’t get forward and had little to hit. Bailey had a brief look, but Watkins, Duran and Diaby saw nothing of the ball, we didn’t involve them. Ramsey a shadow of himself last season obviously further away than we hoped. Suspensions, injuries and a great run has taken its toll. However we need a playmaker, someone who can shake it up and make things happen. Great run this far, but Spurs and City reeling us in. Utd still poor but may kick on. Maybe we do need some new blood. A win against Burnley a must.
  10. Not sure why Unai is not making changes here? We have been on the back foot for 15 minutes
  11. Not my take, but we need to wake up a bit, definitely not at our best today. Haven’t worked Watkins once have we?
  12. Feels like we need an extra body in midfield. Konsa gone up another level today; Martinez has been world class recently, he is making a difference for us in a few games now.
  13. Bit casual in the middle and playing out, seem to be going long more often than usual. Movement isn’t great, Ramsey still rusty. Given it’s a bit make shift we are doing ok, still in second gear, when we needed to we went through the gears and got what we wanted. Would like to see Zaniolo and Diaby, would also like to see Moreno.
  14. With Mings back, not sure many teams (in the world) could boast a stronger CD squad of Mings, Konsa, Torres, Carlos, and Lenglet to rotate from?
  15. I am aware of that and I am sure he knows he’s had his payday, there’s got to be a deal, there usually is?
  16. Don’t want to bleat because we heard the less classy clubs complain. We had three wrong decisions tonight that would have changed the result, but we have to now be prepared for teams parking the bus, this is what will define our season, not VAR. We did enough to win, we played well enough, but we have to dig deep and find ourselves. Coming from behind shows we are not far off finding it.
  17. Good outing, didn’t look out of place, good range of passing and looked safe. If he is available for £15m as suggested we should buy
  18. lol, don’t think I’ll be coming back in here in a hurry!
  19. Wow? 10,000 seats doesn’t really move the dial. Even more so if you want more than 50,000 seats eventually. This type of development is a compromise. If we make CL, become regulars in Europe and competing in the PL, our ambitious owners will want 60-75K. They will need revenue like Arsenal and Spurs. VP won’t provide that. 10,000 x £1,000/seat = +£10m/season revenue, but it will cost over £100m before interest, plus loss of revenue for the 7,000 seats you lose for two seasons. You only get payback after about 12-15 years. And they will want a much bigger capacity than 50K. VP commercial revenue is very poor compared with Arsenal and Spurs as their state of the art stadiums are set up to exploit corporate customers who pay though the nose, so we will always be behind them commercially whilst at a compromised VP.
  20. Because maybe the new development was a compromise to finish for the Euros. Maybe they have a bigger vision. Maybe they do actually want and value the home support while we are breaking through. I don’t know? Adding 10K won’t make much material difference to overall revenue, especially when compared with the cost in delivering it so may as well make the right decision. Maybe they are unpicking some Purslow decisions? I trust them to make the right decisions.
  21. Thought it was a good interview, thought he made some interesting points however gave little away about much. We stay at Villa Park, pause the +10K expansion, develop the warehouse thing and review/consider development options after the Euros, all framed around “keeping fans in the ground while we are doing well” and “we have a transport problem already which will be made worse by adding another 25% more spectators”. Our world view/prospects might be seriously elevated in 18months time - make the big decisions then.
  22. Having rewatched the footage of Kamara sending off, I can’t see a red card offence, he is trying to restrain the Brentford player who confronted Martinez and shoved Martinez with both hands? I don’t see any raised hands by Kamara?
  23. It’s like the enormity of going top is a psychological barrier. Yet again we struggle with the block, we look open in the middle too. It’s a pity we don’t have Tielemans, but definitely missing Dougie as the midfield general. Bailey might change the script second half, hopefully Unai can see the problem….
