  1. Was at the Burnley v Stoke game yesterday (work reasons) and had a good view of Trippier in the first half when he was on my side of the pitch. Great delivery on him, every ball he put in the box was a dangerous one. Plus from a defensive point of view he is nippy, positionally good and is a bit terrier like, he certainly isn't afraid to get stuck in (at one point he won an aeriel duel with Arnautovic who is probably a foot taller than him). If the release clause is £3.5m, then i agree he'd be a snip.
  2. I'd be using Bony as an example as to why he should stay another year, such a shame to see talent like that rot away on City's bench.
  3. I've seen enough in Bennett to show me he's good player. He is a confidence player though and I think playing full back in the side he was in at the time ruined him - hence why he needed a spell away to almost reset that confidence. I think under Sherwood's management he could come good, perhaps even as a left winger in the long run.
  4. Child 44 Far too long, far too slow and so thoroughly depressing it might actually be worth going to see just for the feeling of elation you get when the end credits finally appear.
  5. Would you sacrifice having won the European Cup? I.e. We stay up and it gets wiped from History, back to the future style. Not sure I would even though it hasn't really been part of my life as a Villa supporter (I was 2 at the time), we'd suddenly lose one of the big things which sets us apart from 'the rest'. Then again, we could go down, do a Leeds and basically disappear as a football club... think i'd have to toss a coin.
  6. I'm just hoping for a massive meteor to hit earth and completely wipe out all existence... so then at the point where it's just about to strike and my hair is rushing back from the sheer force, women and children are crying, all the animals are going apeshit... I'll be able to stare into the distance, contemplate my life for a few seconds and then think "ah well, least I don't have to watch that shower of **** play again".
  7. Killer Joe... wish I could go back and save myself those two hours. Utter **** in my opinion. I just can't fathom out how some people enjoyed it.
  8. If he goes with the Chelsea style 4-2-3-1, then i'd like to see this: --------------Guzan----------------- Hutton---Vlaar---Clark---Cissokho -------Sanchez---Delph------------ -----Bacuna---Gill---Sinclair------- --------------Benteke--------------- All three of that AM line have pace / can play forward passes / can run past a man / can finish. If they're all buzzing around the final third of the pitch, swapping positions etc we'll make chances for sure.
  9. The only way we're staying up right now is with a change in manager. Even if in the long run he's not the right man I'd do it just to spark a change. Michael Laudrup has gone back out to as much as 10/1 for the QPR job... PLEASE if there is a god up there in heaven, please be because we've moved in at the last minute to get him!!
  10. I have a horrible feeling that having lost the dressing room and the fans, he has accepted failure and is just seeing how long he can last before being sacked. But whats even more depressing is that our clueless board have blindly clung on to the fact that he's just been really unlucky and have no choice but to keep him. No shortlist of replacements made, no assistant manager to act as a caretaker... We my friends are well and truly ******
  11. If QPR get Laudrup I think I will actually cry.
  12. You're right to save yourself the bother it's shit. Tangled on the other hand, now that's a Disney classic! Well maybe not classic but it's got a decent plot at least. Plus - and I appreciate how this sounds, but the girl in Tangled is way hotter than those daft bitches in Frozen (excuse the pun). If I was a cartoon man I would be banging that all day long!
  13. Positives: GILL!!!!!! wonderful goal, looks a class apart, shows Lambert for his faults can spot a player. Andi - much much better, his running balanced out Benteke's unwillingness to move. The Okore/Clark partnership - looked solid as usual Cleverly - I've slagged him but he did ok today I thought. If Benteke had been on it he would have gotten an assist. Negatives Bacuna - liability, lost count of how many times our passing broke down because of him. Richardson - turned off numerous time in defence, poor going forward and like Bacuna has this tedious habit of making needless fouls which gift the opposition a get out from difficult positions. Benteke - the commentator on my stream kept saying that he was playing on his heels and he was exactly right, played like he couldn't be arsed. Sanchez - only slight negative, he didn't have a great game today
  14. I have sympathy with those who get confused, you have to remember that FFP hasn't really ever been sold/explained in a way which is easy for the common fan to understand. You hear news about the likes of QPR getting in trouble etc, but not a lot is done to explain the details in way simple way (no offence to anyone here btw). Look at US sports - salary caps make it real easy. Don't spend more than X, that's the simple rule. Over here it's different rules for different competitions, different amounts based on income, loopholes all over the place, etc, etc. You have to take time to read up on it to fully understand it and that shouldnt be the case in a sport where it plays such a massive factor! In more exciting and on topic news, that twitter guy says it's Toure we're signing today.
  15. If I was Xherdan Shaqiri, it would take one helluva lot a cash to get me to Stoke. I know they managed to get Bojan there, but arguably his career was stalling. Shaqiri would be a massive coup for them, MASSIVE!!
  16. Long term I'd like us to try and set up in the same way Chelsea do. Before I get shot down, I know it is a stretch to imagine and we won't have anywhere near the same quality, but I think Mourinho's philosophy is quite similar to Lambert's ideals (not necessarily what he feels we have been capable of playing in the past) of a narrow midfield playing through the centre, everyone tracking back. Here's the comparison... Costa Benteke Hazard --- Oscar --- Willian Delph --- Cole --- Cleverly Fabregas --- Matic Westwood --- Sanchez Azpilicueta -- Terry -- Cahill -- Ivanovic Cissoko -- Vlaar -- Okore -- Hutton Cortouis Guzan Now as I said it is a stretch and for sure the 3 behind the striker are way off being (1) as good or (2) as suited, but given that Delph could be off and Cleverly might be rethought, for me thats the area of the pitch and type of player we should be investing in, that hard working mobile style of AM rather than out and out wingers. Thoughts?
  17. Look on the bright side, at least we won't have to shell out on any new goal nets anytime soon, ours must be the most pristine in the country!
  18. Watched Gone Girl last night. I was expecting a few twists and turns but didn't expect it to go the way it did. Very good, would definitely recommend.
  19. Phht who cares... people are forgetting we've got Cleverly now.
  20. Guzan 6/10: Should have done better with the first, other than that meh. Lowton 5/10: 1st half looked rusty, but showed a few glimpses of decent play. Second half he showed his petulant side and he is typical of the side that his head goes down too easily. Vlaar 6/10: Partly at fault for the first, average after that. Clark 6/10: Thought he started well, winning headers against Zamora etc. Can't remember much about his second half other than fluffing it each time a chance fell to him. Sissoko 4/10: Poor. Touch was poor, positioning was poor, he just can't play the offside trap. Liked him at the start of the season, but he's had a bad run of late and this was his worst. Westwood 5/10: Nothing noticeably bad, I just don't know what he does? Sanchez first half 8/10: Looked a class act, cracking shot, demanded the ball, great passing. Sanchez for 5 minutes in the second half 1/10: WTF happened??? He literally turned to shit!! After that he went back to being decent, but what a diabolical 5 mins. Cleverly 4/10: He plays a neat, quick pass when under pressure, i'll give him that. Nothing else though, he has zero presence, little creativity, definitely not worth the fee to make him permanent. Gabby 6/10: When he wants it you can see he can be a decent player, showed strength at times when others we being blown off the ball. I think frustration must get the better of him though as he doesn't get a lot of support. Weimann 5/10: Same as always, all effort, no skill. Benteke 3/10: That's a harsh mark but it's compared to his usual standard. Too rusty and it showed. That said even a 3/10 Benteke is better than the alternatives we've got. The long balls we play demand that he is on the pitch, no-one else could hold it up like he did today. Bent 2/10: Seriously he came on? Cole 2/10: Managed to block Benteke's header, then play a load of balls to nobody in particular.
  21. Nicho was your link meant to go to a video of a piglet dancing round a slipper? If so bravo, you have just made me spit my breakfast out over my computer screen.
  22. I'd try and get Cleverly and Welbeck from Utd to be honest. Cleverly adds further competition to our midfield and perhaps a more attacking threat. Welbeck proved that he can play on the left of a front 3 for England (I actually thought he had a very good world cup individually in that role). Him and N'Zog either side of Benteke when he's back would be a great front line.
  23. A midfield of Delph and Dembele, with Sanchez just sat behind as the DCM would be a wet dream come true compared to what we've had the last few years.
  24. both youth players signed months ago i think. The two Southampton youngsters? Yeah it's down to Cortese working behind the scenes as secret CEO until the takeover is annouced. Do keep up
