  1. I thought he bottled the 3rd goal in all honesty. 2nd I couldn't really see as it was up the other end from me but he seems very slow to get down sometimes. A couple of decent stops but only ones any Prem keeper should make in reality. Distribution was erratic I felt and I was literally petrified every time the ball got played back to him. He is back up of course but such a shame Martinez was away as I genuinely feel we may have gotten something today with him here. The biggest issue today though was the forwards spurning golden chance after golden chance, you simply cannot do that against this level of opposition.
  2. Two good finishes (One got himself offside though which in itself was poor) two really poor miss, one decent save but should have done better. Another few occasions he was caught on his heels a bit and this is what for me separates him from a top 6 player. He simply does not gamble enough and is too often caught stood in a static position when he should be running in, thus is caught on his heels & doesn't get to the cross/pass etc. Such a shame as the rest of his game is decent. I just hope he can be coached into it more.
  3. I was very disappointed with the early concession and the poor finishing although agree with those who say this is a player quality issue, rather than anything to do with Emery. At times I thought we looked very good and were the better team even. What clearly let us down was attrocious finishing but then how often have we said that about this team?! Watkins is such a conundrum as he gets himself into great positions quite often but of course misses far too many chances to be truly effective. Bailey was decent apart once again from the finishing & final ball which was abysmal. McGinn was his usual huff & puff but is simply too slow deciding what to do when in some great positions. Olson made a few good stops but worried me greatly. He clearly has issues to his game and for me should have done better with his distribution, decision making and one or two other things too. It was the poor finishing which cost us the game though.
  4. My lad had his 1st erection the other day! He was laughing at it asking what it was! I was flummuxed! Ended up saying "Oh don't worry it's just your excitement thermometer son! Are you excited?" He laughed & said Yes! so i said "there you go it's working then" Had not a clue what to say
  5. Must admit in some ways I would love him to stay and sort himself out but it looks as though he just wants to go home basically. He's earned his fortune and has clearly lost his drive. That is an issue as Drive is the one thing which cannot be coached and no amount of training will sort. If it's gone, it's gone. Even Gerrard had to drop him eventually, way too late to save his job however. Now his mate has left & with a bunch of his South American rivals about to show off their World cup winners medals this may just be the final straw for him, especially as one of the main reasons he came was specifically to try to make that Brazillian Squad which he failed to make. That must hurt the guy on some level, surely?!
  6. A pure case of "pot calling kettle", Mbappe put down South American Football by saying it was inferior to European football and laughed at Kane missing etc, you reap what you sow!
  7. Crikey, imagine how nasty & "spikey" our team would be viewed with Martinez in goal & Toney up front!
  8. In all honesty I really do not give a monkeys if the guy comes or not. In some ways the boring, streotypical "Why would he go to such a small club" drivel constantly spouted by ignorant media pundits and then repeated forever by Glory hunter fans who actually know barely anything about our club or it's grand history lest of all it's huge potential, make me prefer he didn't come anyways. There is no guarantee he would do well here regardless and then there is the risk he would simply use the club as a stepping stone to another club with less history, in a worse city (but with much more money "as it happens", just becase they won something in the last 10 years. I agree, bring on the players who would fight day & night for this club and would see it as an honour to play for one of the true giants of English football in a historical sense not just the lastest 5 minutes coz some oil barron decided to have a play.
  9. This is exactly the issue. People tend to look at stuff before they were born as "ancient" & somewhat irrelevant (Even though it really isn't of course). You are bang on though Pinebro, to shut these people up we simply have to start winning trophies & titles again. What history does show however is that the potential for this club to be among the elite is there, We just have to fulfill it now after a pause which has gone on for far too long now. There is a reason though that AVFC os the only English club to have reached a major final in every decade since football began! As for this Felix fella? Personally I am unsure as he's hardly pulled up trees at Atletico now has he!?
  10. It's the same neg heads and Villa haters who were saying Coutinho would never come to Villa. Then many of them said Emery would never leave Villareal to come here. Afterall why would these players & top coaches come to such a small insignificant club? I think it clearly shows that the only "small" thing going on here is their own knowledge of English football, It's best clubs & history! They literally only see the last 20 years or so (if that) because lets face it, many of them were not alive before that. It's called "the naivety of youth" I believe. Says more about those posters and story writers than it does about AVFC. The bit which really makes me laugh is the "He would only go because of the money" comment! I mean So on that basis why would players go to Man City or Arsenal / Spurs? No doubt because of their huge amount of European cup wins? DOH! The other commonly trawled ot comment is "just because they won a European Cup once upon a time". Made famous by a certain former Blackpool manager of course but now repeated by all & sundry. Well lets remove that European cup win shall we?!... Yep, Villa is still one of the most successfull teams in English football history.
  11. Sounds like complete nonsense to me as I genuinely don't think the media have the slightest clue who we'll be targetting in Jan. Pure made up speculation aka clickbait aka total BS, whichever way you want to look at it.
  12. For me personally he has to be given a chance under Unai. If however he fails to deliver then I have no issue him being moved on. If, as has been mooted, it is the "fire in his belly" that's missing then that is totally uncoachable. I'm not entirely convinced it is that however.
  13. Absolutely delighted to have the pre-game words shoved down my throat! I genuinely thought we would lose that quite badly today when I saw the patched up side and the fact Brighton were playing really well. Amazing win, well done to all concerned!
  14. Whatever way you look at it it helped us to our first away win of the season at a difficult place to go. Sometimes you just gotta do whats necessary to stop the horrid run, which is exactly what our run of away games was.
  15. Well done to him on his goals today, really pleased for him.
  16. Ok ....so it is what it is I guess. If they're ill then what can you do? Will just have to pick things up after the World cup. Shame though as it would have been interesting to see how we did today against the in form team of the division. Sadly I can only see another heavy defeat now as we surely won't be able to get out with no pace & McGinn constantly giving the ball away too. Easy day for Brighton incoming I fear.
  17. Not confident TBH. They have gone strong to save face I reckon as 2 losses in a row against us would not be palatable for their self righteous fanbase. Oh well the important one was on Sunday in reality. The fa cup is still there.
  18. That right there is called "corruption". The way to evidence corruption is by spotting repeated patterns. There is so much evidence of these patterns in the Premier League it's embarrassing. Anyone wonder why this wasn't reviewed, along with the Ronaldo v Mings grappling session when they got yellows, by the Dermot Gallagher weekend Ref analisys on Sky Sports? Not even mentioned in actual fact! This is how it gets covered up. Bailey even went public with it, unlike Ronaldo or Mings, and still no mention of it. As I have said many times before on here, we almost have a duty to constantly throw these incidents up again & again and make so much noise about it that eventually they will have to have it all investigated, as it should be, for corruption in the FA & Premier League. I think most who witnessed it could clearly see the massive bias towards Man U, it happens every single year of course & not just with Villa. I also saw this weekend that Liverpool can blatantly push players over & it's apparently not a penalty! Once again it perfectly fits the profile of how these clubs are protected. Liverpool are struggling so out come the dodgy decisions to help push them up the table. It bemuses me that so many are still blind to it all.
  19. The Visa office is probably manned by Man Ure fans who accidentally keep mislaying his application.
  20. I am really looking forward to seeing if/how he can re-float the great ship AVFC. It is a bit like we were slowly cruising back to where we were hoping to end up but then we hit a huge sand bank and the ship went aground under Dean Smith. Try as he might Stevie Gerrard, as good an ex Pro as he was, had not gotten the skills to refloat us. He tried and got slight movement here & there but pushing the engines to full power was simply burning them out and resulted in setting them on fire with no actual hope of getting us off that huge sandbank. Danks managed to briefly put the fire out much to our relief but the ship is still firmly stuck. Incomes Emery, I am hoping he has the knowledge to do the required dredging right the way around & under this great vessel. If he does we can start the journey once more towards our destination. There is a word of warning however, there is a hurricane called "relegation" on the horizon which could destroy the ship if he cannot free us in time. Thankfully the rescue mission is about to start in earnest with a man who knows how to captain ships just like ours. Over to you Unai!
  21. Worst away team in the division in my opinion. That's now no shows at Bournmouth, Fulham, Palace, Newcastle and not much better at Leeds (Against 10 men) & Forest either in all honesty. At home we are not too bad really...... but away?! Diabolical quite frankly. You could see, even in that first half, that the incisive play was not on the same level as against Brentford. The forwards were once again not finding each other ond wasting plenty of decent positions with poor play. The final ball was back to attrocious Villa, the sluggish thinking was back too....What happened to that vibrant, quick play we saw last game? Bizarre! As for the second half, well clearly their manager spotted our weaknesses & focussed on them & we did nothing about it until 3-0 down. That's sadly on Danks for me, it was clear to see way before we went 2 down that Buendia was off it & needed hauling and that he needed to change something to counter their half time rethink. None of this happened until the game was over. Yet another awful day. Good luck to Unai, My gosh he's gonna need it with this lot.
  22. Embarrased to be a Villa fan today, amateurish performance all round including Danks who should have changed it after 5 mins of the second half. Beundia was attrocious, the front players all looked back to their usual standard (League 1). Nobody played well in that apart from Martinez when he was on. Absolutely woeful. Made a very average team look much better than they are. Someone wake me up when there is a bit of promise in this team, especially away from home where they are, for me, the worst away team in the division by a country mile. Big shout to the officials too for every single big decision going the way of the human rights abusers.
  23. Embarrassingly poor all round, Danks included. Total garbage from the players, back to the normal away form (as in League 1 level).
  24. Voted Poch as he has previous proven experience of turning a perenial mid table team (Spurs) into a Champions League worthy team. He also has experience of taking a club in our current position into the top half (Saints) and plays a good brand of football too. His South American upbringing would hopefully help with a lot of our players too. Then there is the fact he is used to managing big players (Coutinho, Martinez, Kamara etc) Of course it is highly likely he won't come but he is my preferred option from the list.
  25. Yep exactly, this is how they constantly get away with it week in, week out & this is also the reason I will always mention & comment on these disgraceful & corrupt decisions as they are ruining the game for me & I am sure a lot of people, even though a lot of people are still apparently oblivious to it all. The only way it will stop is if there is enough noise about it. Just accepting it & saying the age old lines such as "it all evens out over the season" & "It was a poor decision" is basically facilitating the constant corruption & bias. We always suffer it against the media 6 & London clubs. Remember Palace away? The Grealish "dive" which they disallowed our goal for? Or lets go to the Digne "Impossible to avoid handball" at the same ground this season. Ditto the one against Fulham on Thursday, added to the non penalty for us and the now proven wrong sending off for Luiz in just one game! Just think about that for a second... Three key game changing decisions in one game all in favour of the London club, Oh & no retrospective action for Mitrovic either I see surprise, surprise. I seem to remember a non sending off for a Fulham player in that play off final we lost 1-0 too... in fact was it not the very same player who scored their goal? Then there was the non sending off of the Chelsea player the other week when their Left back went in studs up, straight legged & off the ground from behind into Ramsey's ankle to prevent our very dangerous looking counter attack developing. Or shall we discuss the disallowed Coutinho goal against city for "offside" which would have likely won us the game. It's absolutely rife and happens almost every single time we play the media 6 and very regularly at the other London clubs too. I could half accept the lame "It's Just poor officiating" drivel if those decisions were spread evenly around all clubs but they are nearly always in favour of those aforementioned clubs! That simply does not & cannot make sense. It's not just us either, I am not that shallow! It is all of the other clubs and to see the impact it has just take a look at the current table! It makes a huge difference to points over the course of a season both for those clubs & against the others, us included.
