I seem to have missed all the individual news on this but how long roughly are Kamara, Konsa and Diego Carlos expected to be out?

Based on the info we have, I think Kamara is around the end of the year/early next year. Diego probably a month away if it's a hamstring, and Konsa was "3 to 4 weeks" with a knee injury, so another 2 weeks?

Most commentators said he was on, Mike Dean in the Sky Studio said he was just on. You'll find the linesman flagged for Bailey not Moreno, Bailey  would have been in his eyeline  no way is he seeing Moreno offside, as In reality he was at worst inline.

Though like I've said before, you would have to time the cross (ball being kicked/touched) by a millisecond to know Moreno was offside there, an at the moment it cannot be done. There is no way you can call inline or millimetres offside for me, it's  physics (something Howard Webb and his crew would have no idea about, or take into account), an due to the issue ive explained above, not a chance, we are being taken for mugs really

With offside this close, im not sure why they dont stop f**** about for 5+ minutes and call it onside, make the rule.

Would be interesting to see what semi-automated offside would say for the goal.

I have a feeling clubs will vote against it again though, I think they like the dubious nature of lines having to be drawn, and delays during the game.

  3. Saw some people saying they thought the new ref was alright on twitter.

Absolute dog shite. Basic decisions completely wrong, lost control of the game, and bottled giving Traore a second yellow.

    He's like every other ref.

Yeah, if the defender hadn’t decided to foul him he would’ve just been offside. So don’t pull his shirt.

I don’t think that’s choosing to apply a rule because it’s Newcastle - it’s literally the laws of the game 😂

The far worse VAR issues IMO, in degrees of obviousness, were:

    - Not giving Forest a penalty
    - Not giving Brentford a penalty
    - Not giving us a penalty

They’re all just obvious fouls. Like, really obvious. There’s no subjectivity to them - they’re fouls!

    Agreed with this.

No contact on the ball, heavy contact on the player. This is a objective view. You can not call them grey areas and it's mad that the correct result hasn't happened.

Two maddening VAR calls in our game that thankfully didn't affect the result. But it could have.

I'm assuming you mean the Ollie penalty, which I agree with.

The Moreno offside was correct. He was offside, no matter how minimal. The assistant referee also put the flag up.

We can't argue that VAR gets involved too much, but then also say they should be over turning on field decisions that are correct at the same time.

The issue, as Stevo says, is that they're assessing whether it is or isn't a penalty.

    They're assessing 2 separate things.

So even if the panel who assess these decisions think that it's a pen, they assess the reffing team as correct as it was also correct for VAR to not intervene.

    It's mental.

Maybe I'm thick because I don't know what this means. How can it be a penalty but also correctly not a penalty?

I 100% get it on certain grey areas, minimal contact, player looking for contact, did they get a slight ouch on the ball, was it enough, etc. but here I'm baffled.

I'll caveat this by saying I haven't seen the incident in question.

But I think the problem is you could have several of the people you mention in your post think it IS a penalty, and it still wouldn't be given.

The high bar / clear and obvious nonsense means that even if some of those people think it is a penalty, if it's not deemed obvious enough then a mistake won't be corrected.

    It's nonsense

Regarding this incident specifically, I don't see how a cnclusion could arise that it's not a penalty.

    The attacker:
-Doesn't try to initiate contact, actively tries to avoid it by trying to hurdle the keeper
-Is in clear posession of the ball

    The goalkeeper
-Lifts his arm up in an attempt to reach the ball, directly tripping the player
-Makes no contact with the ball

I'd be genuinely interested to hear views of anyone that doesn't think it's a penalty, and why. I can't get my head around it.

VAR has made it worse because it muddles the lines between decisions even further. Linesmen leave their flags down if it’s tight because it’ll be checked. Refs don’t give on field decisions because it’ll be checked. But only if a high var is reached. But they aren’t checked if they lead to something down the line. I have no idea how a linesman looking straight down the line doesn’t give offside today. How an apparently top ref gives a foul for Rashford’s ridiculous dive. It’s week after week; not just villa. And it’s exhausting.

I do think offside is by far the toughest thing to officiate in football... but in open play. For a free kick it's actually unforgivable to get it wrong.

I'm genuinely startin to lose my love for the game. I watched 3 games this weekend, all of them decided by 1 goal, of of them a big decision has gone against the team that's lost by 1. They are literally deciding games, what's the point of actually playing football at that point?

  9. Devoid of any confidence. Spends way too long on the ball every time he gets it, has no idea what to do and panics. I do feel a bit sorry for him in a footballing sense, because we've grown so quickly as a club and he's been left behind, and he arguably wouldn't playing anyway if Konsa was fit.

He's not good enough, and I think he knows it. But we've not really got any other choice than to play him.

  10. I am well and truly a broken record at this point. Another game where the referee has played a massive part in the outcome. Not a foul. Not a corner (offside). Goal as a result.

VAR is deflecting the issue from the actual problem in football right now. Ange is right in that blue cards will kill the game.

Made me consider the law though, this one. It’s an interesting incident - or… two incidents.

There’s a nudge from Botman which I don’t think is enough for a penalty on its own. Then there’s the hand raise from Dubravka which… I don’t know, I’m not sure it’s enough for a penalty on its own. However, the two things together mean it’s absolutely a foul. I guess it would (should) be given against Dubravka as the final “foul”?

I agree regarding Botman, but the Dubravka one is about as textbook as it gets. Awoniyi does everything right. Tries to stay up, tries to avoid the keeper by hurdling him, and Dubravka lifts his arm and trips him. I'd be really interested to hear the VAR recording on this one as I'm not actually sure how they've reached their conclusion.

  12. We live in a world where a referee, assistant referee and a team of referees in the VAR room can look at the Forest penalty incident and all of them think "no penalty". The state of refereeing is ruining the sport to a point of unwatchability. There are s few goals in a game of football, that big incidents often decide the outcomes, and it's unacceptable for them to so routinely get them all wrong.

I don't know. Have you installed anything on both devices?

    I've visited my parents today.

My laptop and phone work fine on their WiFi. Very odd.

    I'm really confused by this.

  14. 15 hours ago, limpid said:

Not really. The Tor browser will be accessing the internet without using anything locally installed on your devices. It's designed to be secure and private., not to have bells and whistles.

It pretty much confirms it's something that you've installed on your devices though.

Do you think resetting both devices is likely to fix the issue then?

  15. 19 minutes ago, limpid said:

Either it's just a coincidence, or you've installed something on both devices which is intercepting your internet traffic. I don't know what that might be.

It's odd that this Tor browser does work, not sure of the relevance, but it is a shit browser.

    Same VPN on both?

And please never install software that someone sends you.

    I don't have a VPN.

It was a tusted person, and I couldn't get the installer myself as Tor's website is one that shows up with the error above.

The reasons for myself, just very tired and a bit unwell but couldn’t be bothered last night and that’s not like me.

Probably a hot take, butI've never really understood the criticism of atmosphere, you showed up and that makes you 'bothered'.

I know a few people who don't miss a game. But they're quiet, they don't sing or anything. Doesn't make them any less of a fan and they have as much right to be there as anyone.

I don't think that you are getting Windows errors from your phone, but what did Windows Network Diagnostics suggest?

If it's happening on different devices and different networks I don't see how it can be anything other than the sites or their delivery networks. Is yourbroadband provided by your mobile network? If so, it's their DNS. Try changing your DNS servers to 8.8.8.8

I just get "Troubleshooting could not identify the problem".

The sites themselves are fine, other people can get on to them and I had someone send me the Tor browser installer, and the sites work on there - but the browser itself isn't particularly usable.

My broadband is Virgin Media and my phone is Vodafone, I think.
