  1. Got a ticket for the Leicester game and the West Brom one and after that and the numerous other games we've been terrible (every game since Liverpool) I really, really don't want to go. Lambert has destroyed all confidence in the dressing room and it shows on the pitch. Last night was horrible. No fight, second to everything and totally clueless as to how to create chances. Possesion is all well and good but if you don't know how to create goal scoring opportunities what's the point. The only players who look to play the not completely obvious, sideways pass and actually spread the play are Benteke and Gil, everyone else has had it drilled into them to play it safe. It's boring to watch, it creates nothing and it's like watching a game of Bricks on an Amstrad computer. I am totally dismayed by what we have become and something must change but clearly won't. #desperatetimes
  2. a lot of people seem pretty confident about this one.... yes if chelsea win tonight they have already qualified for the champs league and yes they have the europa final 4 days later so will probably rest a few key players. However, they are a quality team, miles ahead in term of ability compared to us and they are currently on form. The fact we've won a few games recently has gone to our heads a bit. Yes we beat Norwich but we didn't play well, the first 20 minutes against Sunderland we were very poor too. I think we will lose, not an 8 - 0 drubbing like last time but 3 - 1 something like that. However, I hope to be suprised! We do quite well against Chelsea usually and should have a lot of confidence going into the game. If we are to win it will be through our midfield not giving them time on the ball, Delph and Sylla pressurising and Westwood spraying the ball into space for quick counters by Wiemman, Gabby and Benteke. Our defence won't be able to cope with their attacking flair and prowess, we need Sylla and Delph to put in a hell of a lot of effort in closing down quick and breaking down their play before they can gain momentum
  3. Thought we were absolutely terrible. I don't know if it was Lamberts tactics to stand off and let Norwich play but it did not help us. We play best pressurising the attack and pushing up the field when the oppositions defence have the ball, we don't have a good enough defence or midfield to let teams play. Though Sylla was excellent and a real workhorse (one of the only guys for us who was other than Wiemman and Gabby) and was confused when he was brought off and not Delph who I thought was way below par. Gabby once again put 110% in and showed why he is Mr Aston Villa. Thought Benteke was awful, poor touch, not in the game at all
  4. Excellent article.. Just a quick question, why is he getting criticism for national team performance? Has he been poor recently? I was in Belgium recently and talking about Benteke to some local guys at a bar. None of them rated him at all and said he is the only weak link in the Belgium team! They couldn't really say why, just that he's not very good.... I asked them who they would prefer to play as a striker and they said anyone! Not seen any of his national appearances but his club form must be a hell of a lot better
  5. Think he can prove to be a great player, lots of energy, strength and a good tackler. He's looked to be lacking in confidence in previous games and the start of the Sunderland game when it comes to attacking and being on the ball. I think after his great performance Monday night we'll start to see him take more time on the ball, be more creative and not just look for the simplest pass. Think he can be a great player for us
  6. Hi, I'm a life long Villa fan from worcestershire living in France. I used to go and see games all the time with my Dad but have been living in various locations abroad for the last 7 years so not been up for too long! I've been following Villa talk for about a year now and love to read the opinions of fellow villa fans and also find out information on transfers and things happening at the club. I watch every game on tv as i can't afford the cost of travelling to a game, although maybe next year. I love aston villa and i think we will stay up this season. The last month or 2 we have proved we are too good a team to be relegated and there are a lot weaker sides more deserving of relegation. I think Lambert will be good for the future, i'm looking forward to next season, i think we will really progress and begin to see the dawn of a new era at the club after 3 years of turbulent times. Anyway, united tonight, i think we can knick something and have had a cheeky bet on us to win, fingers crossed. Hope to be posting on here soon! UP THE VILLA
