  1. General, As a Season ticket holder for almost 40 years I cannot thank you, Randy, Paul, and the rest of the AV Leadership Team enough for getting us to where we are today. Without you all we would be languishing in Division One by now! I am VERY confident that you will do 'what is right' for AVFC when it comes to the new manager selection and we look forward to the next phase of our success... Please do not let the few moaners and whingers derail the good work you and Randy have done. I think some of the rubbish written here is from Bluenoses and they know no better. The rest is a very small minority who are frustrated and emotional and that will go away when the new Manager is on board Thanks again and please pass on my thanks to Randy UTV
  2. After tonight, we need to focus on quickly getting a top notch manager. There's only 3 in my opinion and in this order:- Moyes Jol Keegan (supported by Martin Laursen) General, please tell Randy to make one of these happen and soon!
  3. YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES General, perhaps now, those 'fans' like flashing and brumstopdogs and even pilchard will now get behind the team and the manager and stop their stupid and crass comments. Tonight has proven that they haven't got a clue. It was a special result for all kind of reasons. We beat a team, on their own patch, who supposed to be challenging for the title. Not many teamjs get to do that. Not only beat them but beat them decisively and superb individual performances throughout Not only that, but first time they have been beaten at home since December 2007 and first time the lads have won there for a very long time. I am not gloating but would seriously like to see the words now of all those nords on this thread and others who were slagging off MON and wanting him to be sacked. What about it boys? As they say, actions speak far louder than words and an absolute fantastic result. This will allow us to 'kick on' now and hopefullly silence finally those who lack the faith and in my opinion do not deserve to be called Villa fans. Please pass on my congratulations to Martin, the players and the rest of the staff for a superb performance MIGHTY PROUD VILLAN
  4. General, As usual, great post and reply I was born close to Villa Park have followed Villa all my life and now approaching 50. I went to my first game in 1969 and have been 'hooked' ever since. Villa are in my blood, simple as that. There have been many dark days and times and it would have been the easy option to have given up on the Villa - especially when we got relegated to the 3rd division. But, and a massive but, there have been some fantastic good times (like winning the league and the European Cup!) and they will live with me for the rest of my days Now, I really can't believe some of the posts I am seeing. I can only believe they are the younger generation because surely if they had really been thru the dark times like I have then they would be coming out with such clap trap. I am even minded to say we can do without such 'fans' We will get it right. No doubt about that. We are making great progress and the vast majority of true and proper supporters are behind Randy and Martin and the rest of the staff. I would be grateful if you could feedback to those who matter a balanced view and that most of us are there, behind the team, thru thick and thin. Keep the faith. I will until I die TRUE VILLAN
  5. I can't believe, after one game, this is even up for discussion! Remember, this is a marathon not a sprint. OK, so we were bad. No one is disputing that. BUT we just finished 6th (after challenging for the top 4 for most of the season) and won the Peace Cup for gods sake. Do you seriously want to go back to the dark days of O'Leary and Ellis? No, I thought not. The why don't you all shut the f..k up then and let Martin get on and continue to build a winning team capable of getting into the top 4 every year. There are thousands of supporters up and down the country who would give their right arm for the manager and chairman we have, the set up we have, and the progress we have made. I have every faith in Martin getting it right and us having another great season of progression. For those 100 or so who voted for him to go - why don't you go an watch the blue noses - perhaps that might then make you get real! UNBELIEVABLE, FUC...G UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Nords
  6. Hi General, Great to hear you are on the mend. I ovewhelmed by the great progress we have made under Martin, Randy and your good self and long may it continue! Congratulations on our progress thus far! I just have a small query about the cup scheme. I have been a season ticket holder for many years and it's great that we now have the credit card type ticket and the ability to renew on line. However, it seems strange to me that we have to manually download the cup ticket form to fill in the same details we put in for the on line season ticket renewal and then send it off in the post. Surely it would be better to have a box on the online season ticket renewal form that you could simply tick to say that you wanted to be part of the cup scheme. Indeed, it would be even better that this box was automatically ticked if you had previously elected to be part of the cup ticket scheme. Just seems like a bad process. I am currently on holiday and had to phone the ticket office to see if I could do this over the phone without the need to download the form etc. After much discussion, the helpful person in the ticket office said I could do it over the phone which at least solves my problem for this year. However, for next season, it would be great if we could get this process made simpler.. Hope you can help on this Anyway, all the best to you, Randy, Martin and the boys for this season and look forward to seeing you fully fit very soon Cheers Tambo

Blandy, Excellent Post I first started watching the boys in 1970 and the age of 8. One of my first memories is the League Cup Semi-Final against Man U and feeling the 'buzz'. The days in the third division cemented my relationship and by the time we got to the days of Gray, Deehan & Little I was hooked and couldn't miss a game home or away or a friendly anywhere. In those days, the excitement I experienced in the week and then the anticipation of kick off on match days was just unbelievable and stayed with me until we broke up the European Cup winning side in the early 80's. Up to that time, I barely slept on a Friday night because I couldn't wait for the 'feeling' the next day... Some of those games and performances will stay with me until I die. There are just so many memories I could fill a book but perhaps that's for another day! I still remember the Liverpool game when we thrashed them 5-1 and watching Keegan & Co just stand and stare in disbelief as they were played off the park. The last game at Arsenal when we won the league but played crap, the European games, the friendly against Santos when the queue for the Holte End wrapped around the whole of Villa Park and 57,000 were in there and probably 20,000 outside just to see Pele. The Bournemouth game in Div 3 with 48,000 there. The day Alex Cropley broke his leg, Charlie Aitken getting his shield of Billy Walkers wife for the most games played, Andy Gray - one of the best centre forwards I have ever seen, Dennis Mortimer - a superb leader and captain, 'Sid' Cowans (no need to say anymore about Sid!) and who can forget the likes of Bruce (thunderbolt) Rioch, Willie Willie Anderson, 'Chico' Hamilton, Ray Graydon, and Andy, Andy Lochhead, Andy Lochead in the Air! All of them great individuals but also fantastic players in great teams. Wow, I could go on and on.... Blandy, your post struck a real chord with me because I just realised that after 20 odd years the 'feeling' has come back. I have had a season ticket now for over 30 years and I must admit, up to when Randy & MON came on board, I was very close to packing it all in. You see, I had lost the 'feeling', 'the buzz', the excitement of the Villa and Match Days et al and was thinking I had better things to do with my time on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Now, it's back with a bang! I just can't wait until the next game and I am definitely born again! Everything RL, MON, the players and staff at VP have done and are doing is geared to WINNING. Not only winning but winning in the right way. I have never felt so proud and yet humble to be a Villa Fan and the excitement is immense. I think its right to give thanks and praise to everyone connected to Aston Villa F.C. and I am absolutely convinced that the glory days we experienced in the late 70's and early 80's are not that far away from happening again. After all said and done, there is only one Aston Villa !
