Shit facilities and hardly any legroom as it is but they can add another 2/3000 seats, pathetic. With the exception of Brighton we have the smallest capacity in the current top 10

...and Chelsea. Stamford Bridge is over 2k smaller than Villa Park.

CFC have also recently concluded that the constructionally feasible expansion of adding 13000 seats isn't financially viable, with a minimum payback period of 25 years and a return of just 2.8% over 50 years. The construction cost per seat would likely to be double that of a new North Stand but Heck also now knows our fan base can't support Stamford Bridge prices.

Can't imagine Emery is happy with that being broadcast to the world. Mind you it could be a bluff!

Emery said in today's pre-match conference that Pau isn't fit for tomorrow night's game. I don't think Unai is one to bluff/lie.

Hope it's okt o post this here as it's not 23/24 specific but it is about season tickets

Given our mythical 24,000 strong season ticket waiting list, I was thinking of getting myself on it with my son.

He's only 2, but give it a couple more seasons and I'd like to start taking him to games so I'd like to get us both on the waiting list.

How do I do this? I can find where to add myself but I can only reserve one place. Which makes sense I guess. Do I have to register my son as a fan/member even though he's only 2?

I think you will need to register your son as everything Villa tickets appears to be fan ID driven.

Jonathan Pearce asking if Watkins would "do it again" after being abused. Absolute rocket polisher that bloke

In fairness, I didn't see an issue with Pearce's question. It gave Ollie the perfect opportunity for his great response that in the same circumstances he'd do the same again. His question and Ollie's response also gave a good foundation for the three MOTD2 presenters to comment in support Ollie's action.

  5. Found this thread at the bottom of page 4 so I guess their 'mind the gap' crap hasn't aged well.

    Exactly double their points (38 to 19) after 17 games. Mind the maths - karma's a Villan!😆

Like that will stop them, they will still travel and do exactly what they did at our place.

They should have made them play any remaining European games behind closed doors, home or away.

It's probably not fair to ban home fans from their away fixtures!

Is the 52K capacity achievable by the extra seats they will add to Trinity and Witton Lane Stands as part of the New North Stand?

Not during Phase 1 of the work, which is the only phase that Villa have currently stated they are set to commence. The 50k capacity includes a slight increase to the lower tiers accessed by Trinity and D.E. entrances.

I visited Mostar during a tour of southern Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro in the summer. It doesn't look like I missed much by not visiting the stadium!😆

Still, this evening's game could be tricky and hopefully our team will respect their teams capabilities and achieve the result to top the group.

They can punish the team further, absolutely, but they can’t stop the movement of people… unless the idiots got deported for football violence then that helpfully might stop them travelling in the future but that would be down to the European police/customs/immigration to sort out with rather than UEFA themselves I believe

UEFA aren't going to change their decision but what they should do is openly publicise a warning that if Legia fans are found to contravene the ban (celebrating or kicking off in home sections of away matches might reveal this), then Legia will be expelled from the remaining competition and for the next season they qualify.

I'll be surprised if Legia's away fan ban doesn't lead to an issue, no matter how minor, caused by their fans in home sections but I have little faith in UEFA acting appropriately on it.

That’s a good point… I suppose UEFA can’t really prevent idiots from travelling abroad as it’s outside of their powers, so this is all they can do. It does seem to penalise the ones who did buy tickets, rather than the yobbos that didn’t and caused trouble though (assuming there were at least some genuine Legia fans with tickets)

It's definitely not all UEFA can do! UEFA must be naive to believe that some Legia fans wont try to access home areas at their next 5 UEFA competitive away games and the potential for more violence is accordingly significant. Legia fans would not try to attend matches they weren't involved in, so an outright ban for the next time they qualify for European competition would have been the safest appropriate punishment.

Well, the 2028 euro bid has Villa Park's capacity at over 52,000. The current North Stand plan has us at a bit over 50k. And within the original application last year the eventual aim is to have capacity near  to 60,000. However if/how they will do all of this is open to debate.

I did note the Euro 28 bid had Villa Park's anticipated capacity at 52k. The next phase being announced at 50k was a slight annoyance to me as, after segregation, we still won't be announcing 50 thousand attendances, so when I saw 52k I was pleased.

My current expectation is the new North Stand will go ahead (some were speculating it might not after the delays) but capacity will pause at 50k (we won't not host Euro games because of it). Although, I'll be happy if 52k is completed in the next 4 years or so.

I can't see the locals agreeing to the planning consent.

I'm sure there were some locals that objected to the currently approved expansion. I guess it depends on how many locals object and whether planning approval is swayed by that.

I don't think that would stop us. It's a one in a lifetime chance, you build to how you want but don't open all the seats until the transport infrastructure is in place

After a certain size, adding extra capacity is more expensive per seat. A couple of thousand extra seats could be achieved by adding wraparound corners to the North Stand upper tiers, although that would swing away from the club's design language of Villa Park's standalone structures (they're going halfway by wrapping around the lower tier).

I think the club will pause at 50k for a few seasons as they take stock of the demand at the seat and hospitality price points they wish to offer.

4 defeats and a draw to be precise 😜 since 2016 in The Championship.

Doesn't sound so extreme as having not won at Brentford for 70 years though!

It's a slight annoyance to me when media make a statement that a club haven't beaten a team for an age without qualifying that they've barely played in that period. I mean, we haven't beaten Walsall in the league since 1930 but there's a good reason for it!

To be fair, the two Arsenal fans I work with have seen face to face have all been fair about it and have said well done.

Besides those two, I don't think Arsenal fans realise they actually aren't crying about a refereeing or VAR injustice. They are crying about a rule of the sport.

Disallowing their fourth goal today looked way harsh to me, didn't look intentional at all. Their next three games are Luton, Forest and Fulham, in theory looks a good chance for them to continue their good form

Allowing Bournemouth's 4th would have been against the rules of the game. I thought it was increasing common knowledge that all handling, intentionally or not, by the goalscorer is a foul.

There will be around three thousand or so season ticket holders in the North Stand that will be displaced and that they club will, I'm sure want tonsure get to stay together (you wouldn't want a family split for two seasons), so I think we'll see them take some of the good stuff around the ground - it'd certainly be disappointing if they weren't properly looked after and important they're offered a choice that's right (rather than getting shoved into the Upper Trinity corners).

I support your sentiment to look after temporarily displaced North Stand season ticket holders as best as practical, but without moving some of the 24 to 25k other season ticket holders currently occupying the prime areas of the remaining 3 stands, surely they can only be accommodated in the corners?

First offer of the very few season tickets that aren't renewed could be one idea.

If the capacity is above 30k then it's 3k minimum for away fans, so you can reduce that to 1k for members only.

I think other clubs have successfully applied for lower away fan numbers during special circumstances such as stadium redevelopment.

Mildly irritating this is coinciding when we have our 150th anniversary and possibly we find ourselves in the champions league. Possibly.

Would have been good to have a full house. But y’know, tis what it is.

Technically, with a reduced capacity we're even more likely to have a full house. Seriously though, I really hope our current tragectary continues and full houses at 50k are our near future.

I wonder if using 'had a fall' comes around the same time in life as adding one year when asked your age - "I'm 79 next year". Oh, so you're 78 then.
