  1. Is there any pattern of whether the bigger* semi-final is played on the Saturday or Sunday? * bigger in the opinion of the national media, eg. Manu vs Plop instead of Villa vs Reading.
  2. Gabby appears to be hated by boggie fans and their players weren't enamoured either, thus Gabby was worth his starting place in both games. That Gabby caused difficulties and damage to olbiyun shows how insightful their fans and players are and it was a welcome bonus. Nice one, Gabby!
  3. Who do you think represents the interests of the British Public more? In my opinion they are both deeply flawed but at least the broadcasters are attempting to engineer what approximately 70% of the british public want to see (according to recent independent polls). Can anyone explain what DC and his advisors are running scared of? If agreed by at least 4 of the 7 proposed party leaders, I would run the 3 debates as proposed by the 4 main broadcasters. I would also give the Prime Minister every possible opportunity to change his mind if he wished, right up to the last second. Even if that meant starting each broadcast with an empty chair. Talk of repeating the 'tub of lard' stand-in is a stunt that will only cheapen the broadcasters level to that of... politicians.
  4. Is DC going to change his mind again and take the formal invitation to the three debates proposed?
  5. You should never go full Pulis... It should be illegal to go full Pulis. Then you could call the pulis. I'll get me coat...
  6. Without the benefit of hindsight (Vlaar's mistakes against Stoke), I can see why TS went for the experienced Vlaar to play alongside Clark. Now that choice is not available for tomorrow, I hope Tetchi plays a major part in a clean sheet and becomes the future of an improving defence.
  7. So the ban is to last just one week and only cover their 'Super League'. Their initial use of 'indefinite' made it sound like the ban would last months!
  8. If he was lined up weeks before....how come his coaching team weren't lined up with him. I don't believe we were even considering changing the manager until after the hull game Another reason why I completely ignore anything that comes with an 'apparently'!
  9. I really didn't think he played that well! At a push, I would use him as a sub when we are chasing the game with 20 minutes left.
  10. Facial expressions tell the story: TS = excited, wondering 'will it fizz or will it bang?' AW = panic, 'what if I get the same doctors as Libor?' CC = see TS.
  11. Only time will tell. I wish Libor a successful full recovery for him personally as much as for us as a club.
  12. Don't use Jores' first name - he gets a bit tetchy about it.
  13. Gheyest coat ever Are you mocking the koala bear clinging on Randy's back?
  14. What do you count as 'awry'? I ask because the term could be a bit of a 'catch-all'. Is it: 10 to 15 points from 20 games 'awry' or half a dozen games without a win including a heavy defeat or two 'awry'? I'd count the former as 'awry' - effectively demonstrating the appointment of Sherwood was a mistake past the short term. I wouldn't count the later as 'awry' as I'm expecting a bumpy ride for the next season or so. Good question brommy. Again, it's all about context of course, but I do expect us to go on a poor run and I'm not sure how Sherwood will react to that. Personally, I don't expect it to be pretty. One thing I doubt we'll see is a long, protracted deflating balloon of a season like we've had this year. If we hit 5 or 6 defeats on the bounce Sherwood will be going off at everybody except himself, and I expect that to hasten his departure as he'll burn his bridges with the players and quite possibly the board. To continue the increasingly stretched metaphor, it will be more like when you let a balloon go and it flies around making a farting sound and spraying spit everywhere. At some stage next season, I expect that to happen I'm not sure your prediction of impending failure is worthy of a big grin! I only expect Sherwood to go down fighting if he is close to my first definition of 'awry'. Whilst I hope that doesn't happen, I'd rather he 'went off at everybody' than stick with submissive mumblings. At least he'd make the decision to get rid easy. Looking past a couple of seasons, the chances of any Premier League managerial career going awry increases. The average tenure of 2.14 years demonstrates that it doesn't take a Nostradamus to predict Sherwood at Villa will go 'awry' at some point. It could be argued that he'll be better than the average Premier League manager if he stays past April 2017. Anyway, I'm sure you wish Sherwood every success at our great club!
  15. The Kyle likeness has been mentioned but I say the stubbled Sherwood looks less wax doll like than the polished Kyle*. *Mythbusters proved you can polish a turd.

  17. After going through the play frame-by-frame from just before the tackle through to just after the tackle, I really don't see it the way that Milfner does. It was a good tackle that was clearly viewed and deemed not to be a foul. Clark's speed enabled him to get the ball without it being a foul. Any less vigour from Clark and it could have been a foul. Well done Ciaran for a great tackle that helped spur on the crowd and team at an important phase of the match.
  18. Nope but I think its more likely than not! Based on what?
  19. Have I missed an announcement by the club or a proven ITK's statement, or is Sherwood's apparent appointment still based on bookies odds?
  20. I'm not sure how that would help. Help who? It was mentioned that Southampton had a similar system and it helped them with getting Koeman when they replaced the guy who went to Tottenham. It can't be a bad thing having a list of ready made replacements should you need to replace a player or coach or whatever. Of course the trick is having the right DOF to who is able compile a database of decent talent and not just any random names. It seemed to work for Albion while Ashworth(?) was at the club. Were all 15+ names available or reasonably attainable? Were they in any particular order, perhaps quality, chance of actually getting them, age, cost in salary, cost of severene, alphabetical? How often should the list of candidates be reviewed as their form and value changed with the passing of each game? Do we know Villa don't have similar lists? If not, how long would it take to compile a decent sized list. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to come up with possible candidates. Having a list ready (and we don't know Villa didn't have a list) really doesn't help much. You could have a list of a 100 and still pick the wrong manager or not have a list ready, compile a shortlist over a few days and end up with the right man.
