Wanna go somewhere for 10 days, plenty of time to chill, but of nightlife if we fancied it. Sounds like the pilot wasn’t qualified to fly on instruments (IFR) which with the weather at the time over the Channel Islands definitely would’ve been required. Due to no mayday call I’d imagine severe icing and loss of control. Horrible situation but one which sadly sounds like it could’ve been avoided with some prior planning regarding the weather!

I’m working until late on Friday night and don’t know if I’ll be working on saturday until I check out from work on Friday night. Hoping to just be able to drive up and pick up tickets on the way. Ryanairs problem is right now. It would take at least 3 months to take on the required amount of Monarch pilots and convert them to the Boeing since they're airbus boys. Plus, as Bickster said, the experienced guys will look for a better airline than Ryanair so it's only likely to be the relatively inexperienced pilots who would probably take Ryanair up. But I'm sure Ryanair will try and charge them for their Boeing type rating. Currently stands at just under £30k

They had 8 aircraft based there. Not sure how many Ryanair have there, I work for another airline that operate at BHX and I'd imagine there's plenty of interest in taking up their slots and routes. Really feel for the Monarch staff, have two friends there who, one has just finished his training on the 320 and one who hadn't done the final base training phase! When the airlines charging £30k for the training it's not great for them at all.

Well if any of this helps, I've just checked into a hotel in Barbados at the same time as Nigel Pearson. So if garde were to be sacked this week I doubt Pearson would be the one to take over.

The quarter final ticket was free from a brazilian supplier of mine that they were given by the brazilian export office. That includes Hotel for 2 nights in rio so should be good! Also got CRO v MEX + ITA v CRC + GER v GHA and there all in the north within a few days of each other so im being told there is some nice beach resorts up there which im saving for. Ive budgeted £10k for the whole trip and saved a fair bit up till now Bloody heck £10k to watch a few weeks of football! You could probably travel round the world for 6 months for that. True though I think it may come in less. Also World Cup, in Brazil, bit of an ideal situation really!
