  1. Decent debut for Nathan, played well against Wigan's best player & even more impressive considering he was playing out of position at LB (some Mon legacies live on!) Really pleasing he did well as he is my girlfriend's nephew!!!
  2. Decent result but need to put into context that Sheff Utd are a very poor team and for 99% of the 2nd Half we were very much second best. Positives Walker had a great debut lets hope we have already agreed a fee when he loan runs out! Bannan continues to impress and really bossed the midfield first half. Friedal despite all the stick he got lately, had a decent game. Negatives Pires - mouthed off all week, pleaded for his chance, got it and was the invisible man. Houllier needs to get shot of him quickly, his "rent a quotes" are not helping the cause. Defence - still looks very poor against a weak championship team & we leak goals every game. Discipline - another sending off, more yellow cards we have had more bookings than Joe McElderry! Ash - poor game and very stupid sending off. But a win is a win, hopefully we can build on it, but remember thinking that last week with the draw against Chelsea! Hopefully we will get a few players in this week, Samba & Bridge and a striker please Mr Houllier.
  3. Ok first half, impressed with Bannan in midfield having a good game, he really is going to be a star player of the future. Albrighton playing well, Young on the wing looking good. Only concern, defence looks dodgy..
  4. Looking as dodgy as ever at the back! Dunne what are you thinking....
  5. quote]i agree with all you say, but the manager choice wont and shouldn't happen imo. Coyle wouldn't come here with this mess. and Jol isn't the right manager for a relegation fight imo. Randy should have had the bollox to go for either of these at the start of the season when the club wasn't such a mess. instead they went for the cheap GH option.
  6. For me Houllier has to go and take for me, the real issue with the club Macallister as head coach, we really should have made Macdonald head coach and if we had I have no doubt we would not be in the mess we are in at the moment as he could have been the middle man between the players & Houllier. Why should Houllier go.. Lost the dressing room, once that happens can only be one outcome. Lost the fans backing, when your own fans chant "youre getting sacking in the morning" it fairly clear indication that your days are numbered. Look at our attendances this season, not sold out 1 game and can only get 32k on Wednesday when the club were offering 2 for £25 (thats cheaper than going to watch a Division 2 game!) Negative press, can anyone remember a season when so much negative press has come out of Villa? For me Randy needs follow Liverpool lead and have the balls to sack Houllier before its to late, get Martin Jol or Owen Coyle who are both realistic choices for the club and can help us survive this season and then we rebuild from the summer.
  7. Superb post General, simply echoes how we are feeling as fans at the moment.
  8. Totally agree, but this has been our problem for last 3 seasons, MON did not sort it & so far neither as Houllier.
  9. Agree with all the posts about the defence...it is total shit! It was the same on Saturday against Arsenal, we are leaking goals all over the place. Friedal...time for a change, making errors almost every game. Should have saved the second goal. Young....more intrested in going forward, lacks pace. Dunne...£6m bargain last season but could not be more opposite this season. Total disaster, should be dropped and is the David James of central defenders ie, guaranteed a blunder every game. Collins...lacks tactical awareness, a squad player not a first teamer. Bring back Carlos. Warnock..this player just annoys me every game I see him play, caught out of position every game, makes rash challenges & like Dunne guaranteed a mistake every game. Also he thinks his world class as there is no competition for his position...a total joke! Houllier got his work cut out, we are in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle, loosing our best players and his comments in the press we need 2 players in January is a joke, we need at leas double that. I just hope the players are hurting as much as the fans...somehow, I doubt it. No doubt Houllier will say we are unlucky, etc usual bull shit! He needs to admit we are going backwards & unless we invest big in January we will be lucky to get in the top 15!
  10. Typical Warnock...1 mistake every game very normally costs us! A new left back is a must in the January transfer window.. Feel sorry for Gabby, totally isolated and already dis-intrested. Villa have been very poor value in the first half, always on the back foot and the defence has been dire.
  11. Was going to ask the same question, earlier in the week you predicted we would sell out the next 5 games, shame to see 2000 + empty seats today. Also think the club need to look at the atmosphere created in the stadium, could not hear the Holte End at all from the North Stand and it was for me was embarrasing that Chelsea made more noise than the Villa fans all game long. Have the club considered moving the away fans to the opposite end of the Doug Ellis where they are currently situated ie, next to the Holte End? This maybe would create a better more intense atmosphere. On a positive note was impressed with the team peformance today, we are going in the right direction.
  12. Hi General. Just wanted to commented I want I witnessed at the Sunderland game at the weekend. I was sat in row 30 in k6 but there was one steward (think his number was 104 on his top) that just kept asking everyone to sit down at any opportunity (even when Villa were attacking the goal!) There was words exchanged with some fans in row 30+ in K7 who the steward was constantly on their back asking them to sit down, but when the fans mentioned why were fans allowed to stand in k4 & k5 upper he replied "thats not my section!" and he walked off, the next he comes back with 2 other stewards and the fan that challenged the steward about the other fans standing was led away never to return (so I assume he was asked to leave the ground) not one fan around him had complained about the standing so why such a poor attitude by the steward? To add injury to insult the steward was in the k4/k5 area for the 2nd half and not once asked any of the fans to sit down! If fans are not allowed to stand during the game, surely the Aston Villa stewards need to be consistent and use some form of common sense, no one had complained & just because the fan challenged why other fans were allowed to stand he was asked to leave the ground. I love the atmosphere in the holte and I would hate to see the atmosphere ruined by a couple of stewards who clearly dont share the passion the fans have for the team.
