  1. And Speaking of Keinan Seems the original report is from Percy in this article. The full quote is: Forest have also held cordial discussions with Aston Villa over a possible deal for Keinan Davis, who spent the second half of last season on loan. Villa and Forest have excellent relationships both at board and manager level and Davis could yet return to the City Ground this summer. Davis has joined Villa in Australia for their pre-season tour, however, and a deal is not believed to be imminent.
  2. El Ghazi is playing with the youth teams against Hednesford tonight according to reports on twitter, so clearly has not travelled to Australia. Others who have been touted as leaving such as Keinan Davis and Guilbert are both in Brisbane, so it would seem Anwar's move away is either more guaranteed to happen or more imminent.
  3. Once they uncovered my post back in 2013 suggesting Helenius could be worth a look as the backup to Benteke (before he was actually linked and signed for us) I'm pretty sure I would be shown the door.
  4. Confirmation that he is in Brisbane with the rest of the squad. Personally think it's great to see.
  5. Could anyone here honestly imagine us having these three players together on our team 18 months ago? #TrustTheProcess
  6. Gourna-Douath, the 18yo Defensive Midfielder from Saint Etienne that I believe we were linked to last summer is going to RB Salzburg for 15m Euros. I think that's an Austrian league record signing. Will likely be sold for double the price by the time he's 21. I do wonder if this means one of Salzburg's existing midfielders is off. Seiwald has just signed a new contract so I'm sure is staying. Sucic has had a few spurous links this window too. Most likely would be Mohamed Camara who is perhaps most similiar to Gourna-Douath out of the three - and could see him fitting in to a lot of Premier League starting sides. However, he might want to stay in the Champions League. One to watch...
  7. Fully expecting something completely out of the blue, like a Luka Sucic from RB Salzburg.
  8. Probably on that 15 hour flight to Perth right now.
  9. Solves the immediate problem of a backup left back for the season, and punts the problem of finding the eventual successor to Digne down the road another year (be it from the youth setup or externally). Fine with that. Nothing to be upset about here.
  10. I am not ITK, or anything of the sort, but even I could see about 10 days ago that we would try to get a back-up Left Back in before the flight to Australia. I thought Cucurella would be resolved by now, but it's not. But we have seen movement in the LB market with Malacia and Hickey. When are they expected to fly out, is it Monday? Doesn't leave too long to resolve potential VISA issues (although I think EU citizens don't need a visa to enter Australia... might be wrong!)
  11. Looks like the U19 team will be taking part in a pre-season tournament, the CEE Cup. Believe it's based in Prague. Other participants: Slavia Prague (Czechia) Sparta Prague (Czechia) Tigres (Mexico) Palmeiras (Brazil) Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine)
  12. https://www.abola.pt/Clubes/2022-06-30/fc-porto-aston-villa-prepara-oferta-por-otavio-saiba-o-valor/947442/42 - Portuguese Article published an hour ago by A Bola. Although seems to be simply reporting on the "gossip". DeepL Translation: Otávio continues to make people talk, even though he is the last player Sérgio Conceição agrees to lose. The Premier League's harassment seems to be really strong, but the numbers may still be far from approaching the portistas' expectations. The 27-year-old Portuguese international, one of the most influential elements of the double in 2021/2022 and in the pipeline to fit into the squad for the Qatar World Cup, is whetting the appetite of Steven Gerrard, the former Liverpool star who now, as manager of Aston Villa, wants to calibrate the Birmingham team's aim to win titles. According to reports circulating in recent hours, the Villans have outlined their plan to try and land Otávio and are willing to offer €30 million plus €5 million involved in match variables.
  13. Translation: Trabzonspor and Aston Villa have reached an agreement for the transfer of Trezeguet. The player's representative is coming to Istanbul to finalise the contract details.
  14. Born in Brazil, played for their youth national sides, then switched to Portugal in the full national team. Not for nothing, but Otavio is pretty widely despised by every non-Porto fan in Portugal (when playing for the club). Dives, winds people up, always tries to get the refs attention. Everything and everything. However, those same non-Porto fans in Portugal love him when he plays for the national side. He is exceptional at applying pressure on the ball and has a tireless work-rate. He would absolutely be a #8 in our system, but could play one of the #10s if needed.
  15. I would love to see Ramsey and Davide Frattesi in the same team for us. Would be so much fun. Alas, I think an Italian player wont find it as easy to settle in the club right now as it would a Portuguese/French/Spanish speaking player due to the pre-existing presence of those languages within the squad currently.
  16. Chelsea do seem to be doing some fairly rash things at the moment though. Levi Colwill seems to be going to Southampton (who would have the potential for a really promising young defence - although perhaps a bit boom or bust).
  17. AS Saint-Etienne need to sell to generate 20m euros for balancing their books with their league's financial watchdog according to l'equipe. Lucas Gourna-Douath was someone we were linked with last summer. 18 year old defensive minded midfielder. They have another young midfield talent on their books, although more attack minded - 19yo Adil Aouchiche. May be that they have to sell both, and both would go for around £10m.
  18. Verified Account so.... Web Translation: Galatasaray is in the signing phase of the first midfield transfer! #Galatasaray has reached the final stage in the transfer of 27-year-old French midfielder Morgan Sanson, who plays for Aston Villa.
  19. Matheus Cunha only joined them last summer. Would be really bizarre if they sold after just one year. There has been talk that Morata would be moving to Atletico Madrid this summer,. I thought with Sanchez going to River Plate it would be to replace him. If they are in dire financial trouble, can see them selling Cunha and bringing in Morata (who is available on a free) to help in the short term.... maybe? Interesting situation for sure. There would be an awful lot of competition for him though.
  20. Some murmurs that Atletico Madrid need to sell, and rapidly. I would not be surprised if their 21yo left back Manu Sanchez is on our shortlist for that backup position behind Digne. Not as highly rated as Sergio Gomez I would say, but still could be a good understudy. Might see some links thrown together with the likes of Thomas Lemar to Premier League sides too as he only has a year left on his contract.
  21. If you consider that our midfield three of the future is likely to be Kamara sitting deeper behind two #8s from Ramsey/McGinn/new signing, you have to look at the profile of what they bring to the team. Ramsey is great progressing the ball by dribbling, and getting in to the opponents penalty area. McGinn is better progressing the ball via a pass than he is by dribbling, is (buzz-word alert) press-resistant but tends to make those forward runs less so than Ramsey. However, an argument could be made that with Kamara behind them both, McGinn could feel more comfortable getting further forward next season. So what should we be looking for in that new #8? Another progressive dribbler like Ramsey, who like to move forward with the ball at his feet? Someone more cultured when playing the pass, to be able to get the ball in to the forward three quicker? Or even a player who is more defensively stout who can comfortably fit in for Kamara as a #6 should he have to miss a game, but can also play further forward in that more box-to-box role? I honestly don't know the answer. There are multiple avenues that they could go down. Perhaps Soucek fits their view. Maybe it's Gallagher. More likely it will be someone that's not really been discussed yet. It will perhaps be their most "telling" transfer so far. The need for a Defensive Midfielder was obvious. The upgrade at Centre Back with better distribution was also needed. We've got them both in early. The only real question left about the starting XI to be resolved this summer in my eyes (as I think up front will change next summer, not this year).... What kind of midfield trio does Gerrard want to have?
  22. I agree - I'll provide further context about what I meant. It's more a decision to whether it's even worth to take him on the tour to Australia or not. The last thing you want is to take a player half way around the world whose future is not with your club. The Walsall game is not going to have any of the internationals playing. The only reason Sanson doesn't start in that midfield for that game is if they're preventing injury before an imminent transfer - which could well happen because, as you say, they could have easily made up their mind already in nine months. Similarly, I don't think it's completely unreasonable for Gerrard and his assistants to think, "You know what, I'm going to give him another shot. Give him a chance of a full pre-season with us to see what he's got. I'll see how he looks against Walsall, in a midfield that he should be absolutely running and commanding given the disparity in quality and lack of internationals on the Villa side, before telling Lange what to do." You can still at that point take him with you to Australia, see how the first few games go in August and so forth. If McGinn picks up an injury lets say, well hopefully our new #8 will step up (I'm assuming Douglas Luiz is already out the door and as such we definitely need to bring in first choice competition already for Ramsey and McGinn in the #8 roles). I personally would rather have Chukwumeka and Sanson as that now 4th and 5th choice #8 option, compared to Chukwumeka and someone else. I think you retain more value keeping Sanson, than spending even more for the same position twice in one window. I'm not a Sanson advocate by any means. He's hardly pulled up any trees during his time here. That said, I think there is some value in keeping him as that backup option, rather than forcing you to look for two new central midfielders. I think that's the debate likely being had - and why I think how he does in those first few weeks could potentially sway minds. But he's got a lot to prove for that to happen I agree.
  23. Just chatter over the day. Wont spam loads of twitter posts that will take up half the page, but some URLs here: mobile.twitter.com/kadircetincali/status/1541506556302442497 mobile.twitter.com/skorerrcom/status/1541395904187482113 mobile.twitter.com/fanatikcomtr/status/1541309193637986304 Preece also mentioned it in his Q&A today, but not sure if he was simply re-reporting on these bits out of Turkey, or from the club.
  24. Few more reports this evening that Galatasary are really interested in Morgan Sanson. I think Sanson will start in the pre-season game against Walsall a week on Saturday, and Gerrard may just make his decision based on that, and these first weeks of training, about whether to keep him or not.
  25. I think we'll have that back-up left back role in before that flight to Australia. The run on left backs in this market is going to start soon, most likely with Cucurella's move to City and the knock on effects with Brighton looking in the same market range as us. Will likely see further news on non-first eleven outgoings (Trezeguet, El Ghazi) and perhaps Douglas Luiz also moving on in the same period - the next two weeks. I think moves for another central midfielder wont happen until we're back from Australia. It'll only be before if we lose both Sanson and Luiz. If any move is made for a striker I think it will be an opportunist move for someone like Jonathan David towards the very end of the window. Think Gerrard is going to give Cameron Archer a good look during pre-season, but remember Archer is currently with the National Side, so wont be back for pre-season until mid/late July anyway.
