  1. FYI When the Browns bring in a player they want to sign they have been known to make a professional video of his personal highlights to music, of course. Then during his visit they take said player on a "tour" of the 'pitch'. That is when the lights come on. And up on the Big screen and they roll the Tape! I am sure with bodymoor heath opening up Villa will be an attractive destination. I want a player like Patrice Evra, a RB that can run by people and make a good cross.
  2. When does the transfer window open? The january window felt like it lasted a long time. It was a bit hard to wait for Carew, Young and Maloney! Will most of the best players wait untill the last minute to sign? Thanks, brownie
  3. Dear General Krulak It has come to my attention that you are meeting with some candidates for POTUS on some important issues. Through this forum I have come to admire and respect you as an Ambassador of Aston Villa FC. How you have opened yourself up to the fans is such a special treat! Thank you. I just want to say that I felt so good to read you would be contributing this weekend. I know you will represent and advocate for the ideals we all hold dear. I have come to some despair over certain aspects of our present course and the division it has caused at home... But I just had to write and tell you how inspiring it was to read some of what you had to say. I know this post is OT but I felt a surge of pride as a Villa supporter to find Our very own General is fighting the good fight. -Brownie
  4. Thanks for the explanation of "route one " ball Baz, much appreciated. Carew long term or short term? Not worried about it really. I like the 443 as I think it puts the our strongest players in attacking positions but we seemed to play better with the 442. I am looking forward to what MON decides to do against REading. My guess is a 442 with maloney on the right, Gabby on the bench. Also Berger's backward passes were freaking annoying, I think he is shite(as you say). MON is just proving he is a "players" gaffer.
  5. This is a great read for someone learning the game! Might someone please please explain the "route one" reference? Also..Symmouk said we only played 442 in the 2nd half.....But I saw A 442 clearly in the opening moments. I think it is a waste to have Barry at left back. He is great coming towards the corner of the box where he can shoot, play it square or cross. When MON went with a 443 at newcastle I saw that as an indication that it was his prefered formation. But we gave up "ridiculous goals" to quote MON. So now he goes with a 442 at home vs west ham and our defending was stifling for 80 mins. I bet Maloney will play opposite young in the 443. Gabby is a great finisher but he does not seem to create for others very often.
  6. Brownie here, I wanted to say a little something about Jim Brown. His Greatest asset was not his unmatched combination of pure strength and agility. It was his Mind that made him The Great Jim Brown. He was always thinking ahead of the rest. I won't ramble on with examples.... like how Jim Brown always picked himself up from the ground very slowly after he was tackled, even in the beginning of the game when he was feeling strong. He never jumped up quickly to run back to the huddle, WHY? Because he knew that at some point he would be really hurting and when that time came he did not want the opponet to know...... he would never give the other team the satisfaction of thinking they were slowing him down.....that way He maintained the mystique and the intimidation over his opponets. er... crap I rambled didn't I? Sorry just one more thing and I will get my coat. Because Jim Brown is an icon of Sport and of the Civil Rights movement he is always asked all sorts of questions. Recently he had this to say regarding Tiger Woods and the ryder cup. *paraphrasing* "The greatest thing about Tiger is his relationship with his Father. Tiger is a killer. He is an assassin. His father brought him up that way. (A former Marine was Earl Woods)...And That is why he is out of his element in the Ryder cup. As part of a team he is not the same. He has to let his guard down and That is not how he operates." I thought this was a profound observation, I spent about 30 minutes looking for the actual quote. Ill keep looking. So Why say all this?....Well Jim Brown never pulls any punches. He is frank and direct to a fault. He likened Michael Jordan to a "master's boy" for his lack of social/political commentary. Jim Brown is bigger than football. And he backs Randy Lerner 100%. And Here in the land of the burning river, where the Natives are restless...that means a whole lot. Not trying to hijack this thread my friends. Carry on!
  7. I read in another article this morning that Alan Smith rejected a loan move to Liecester city.....are they a really weak club in comparison to Villa? It also said that he was recovering from a(n) horrific ankle injury and that may have played a part in his reluctance to go. clicky - use short links please! To see how to use short links click on edit in this post please - Bicks The competition for high qaulity players looks really fierce. Is it a matter of pure CASH or does the stature of the club play a bigger role? Brownie
  8. I should have posted this in the Transfer rumor thread, sorry guys. please Nuke this if need be. And thanks for the breakdown of the above sites cred....or lack thereof!
  9. I imagine this is mere specualtion, no link or source. is this link pure crap? clicky - use short links please! To see how to use short links click on edit in this post please - Bicks You kinda get the feeling after all the injuries MON might consider loans he would not have a month ago.
  10. Brownie here, Just having a little fun above....seriously though I am totally blown away to have the 31st commandant of the Marines hang out with the Villa faithful in this forum. This is so unheard of, I cant get over it. What an absolute thrill. Just reading the the back and forth has brought a smile to my face. This might sound funny but i wonder how many in the senior management of a football club would have the courage to carry on and be themselves like this. I suspect it is just one and he's ours! I mean Villa fans have got to be the envy of the league in this regard at the VERY least! Eventhough it has been rather rough going of late lets not forget to count our blessings of 2006 as we look to the bright future ahead! -Brownie
  11. General, Oliver Stone here. Regarding recent media reports suggesting that mr. Lerner has not been around to support MON of late...among others in a similar vein. Do not be fooled sir. I have it from some reliable sources on deep background that these mischievious allegations are the just the latest attempts by certain premeireship sides determined to foil The Villa's grand plans for the Jan. window! By casting doubt into the minds of the Villa faithful They hope to illicit some response from the upper management. Your frank and direct communication with the supporters has sent alarm bells ringing within the Big Four. You see, now They FEAR the villa! Our current momentum looms large in the minds of our rivals sir. And you know They will stop at nothing to discover our plans. They were happy to have us merely nipping at their heels but now that those days have past They have become desperate. Now I know you would never tip your hand General but we should only expect more of these subversive machinations. But let me assure you General... we will not be fooled by these crude conspirators attemptes to sow dicord. If one thing is certain it is that All of Aston Villa stands as one. Prepared. -Brownie
