  1. Young and Carew have only played one match so-far. I watched the game and we did dominate and were unlucky not to do alot better playing away even. Imagine what our new lads can do when they've played a few more games for Villa and get to know the team. I think we'll do well over the next month.
  2. I agree Lucas Neill is a gutsy player. Captains the Australian national side. Experienced but not too old at 28 years. Has a cool head and yes a great tackler. He's going to West Ham for 2mill? Forget them, we need him.
  3. What about Field Marshal William Joseph Slim? He took a thoroughly defeated British force (composed of Brits, Chinese, Zulus, Indians and Gurkhas!!), led them on a pretty hellish retreat out of Burma, retrained them to the highest possible standard with virtually no support or resources and hopelessly outnumbered, then consistently beat the Japanese into the ground. And to top it off, it was largely he who changed the British army's culture to favor merit over connections. He fought in Gallipoli. He wrote a great book, "Defeat Into Victory". Look it up. Here's something: clicky And what about Hannibal, Saladin, Zhukov, Napoleon, Genghis Khan...? Could go on forever GENERAL! I was going the Club's online shop and spied an Aston Villa shirt from a by-gone era I can't recall, but think looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! It's the shirt in the "VILLAdirect" picture-heading (between the two wrapped presents). The blue one with the thin, vertical claret stripes down it. THIS SHOULD BE OUR CURRENT STRIP. It would look amazing.
  4. We've got a tough run after Xmas- keep positive we must. Randy Lerner is our saviour- he stopped us going bust. General K loves VillaTalk -In trouble 'cause of thongs When we travel to Old Traff, I'll rip man ure heads off. Merry Crumpets!
  5. General C Krulak, Yourself and Mr Lerner have made a great start and have presented some very good ideas to the fans. While I've followed Villa for over twenty years I've also supported an Australian Rules football team called the Port Adelaide Magpies (renamed The Power to gain entry to the AFL, 1997). They are an amazing team- established in 1870, just as Villa were, in claret and blue. In 1902 they adopted a black and white strip they wore for eighty years. Their winning record is better than any other "football" club in English OR Australian history. Their success is a result of the attitude of everyone assossiated with the club. Even the fans share this attitude. It's an arrogance that all other teams hate with a vengence. A belief that even if Port is down by 10 goals at three-quarter time (equivalent to, say, a 4 goal deficit at half time in Premier League) they KNOW they will kick 11 goals in the last quarter (insert 5 goals/last half) and win. PORT always EXPECT TO WIN. Between 1884-1996 they won the premiership on average every 3 years. You either really love Port or you really hate them. That's the attitude we need here at Villa. Perhaps we could talk to someone from Port and use methods that made them a successful team, or better, get someone in from Port as an advisor (get in contact with RUSSELL EBERT- the best Australian Rules footballer that ever lived). Port Club contact number: +61 08 8447 4044 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Adelaide_Football_Club http://www.fullpointsfooty.net/port_adelaide.htm Oh, and tradition is always something a successful club retains- really like the idea of resurrecting an old jumper. OK, maybe not that one.
  6. If you build O'Neil up to be the messiah you'll only be disappointed if the existing team lets you down. There's too much negativity. Sure, we really do need a quality striker but they're useless if your forward movement consists solely of panicky long balls. Midfield should've played alot better against man u. We just needed to maintain posession a bit longer and for god sake get a little creative. Great defensive work in the first half. Hats off. And no-one could've stopped that freak volley from Scholes. bastard. But come on, stick a leg out and block Ronaldo's first goal please! We shyed away from it- unacceptable. Ronaldo was offside for that last goal- but that was a great counter. We should NOT accept a loss against man u at home. I'd feel ill if I knew some one pulling the crimson and blue on was resigned to the fact that they were going to lose, especially at HOME. Come on VILLA we want WINS.
  7. 2-2 Well done. Sorry, my finger sliipped. Win ur homes and draw ur aways. That's ok.
  8. :x I'll tell you what we need--> To be alot more POSITIVE. Mod ChrisVillian, I think ur way to negative. We can beat Sheffield U away. Anything can happen in football. OK, we have a few injuries and not the best attack at the moment but with what we have on the field we can still get away with a 1-0 win. C'mon, a positive outlook from the supporters flows through the whole club and onto the players. Screw negativity- we should always believe that we should win every game on club pride alone. This is a progressive new Villa and losing is totally unacceptable.
