  1. And yet we keep progressing Maybe just maybe Emery has a plan of how to win European competitions
  2. Yep, we are playing well. Keep the game flat, let Ajax do all the work. Nick a 1-0 later on in the game and take that back to Villa Park to win the tie. Also keeps our players fresh for Spurs
  3. A bit of discussion around this in the Spurs thread. In terms of Villa and to start the debate... why should pensioners get any concession? Why should a 65 year old get much cheaper tickets than say a 60 year old or a 22 year old? A lot of pensioners are well-off and some are poor, similar to the rest of the adult population. Actually there are probably more pensioners with a higher disposable income than someone in their 20's. Isn't charging all adults (excluding students) the same price the fairest way?
  4. Spurs have announced a 6% increase. Their cheapest season ticket will now be £856. Also gradual removal of concession pricing for over 65's - they will just eventually just pay normal adult price.
  5. Me? Sometimes I catch a taxi there and back, sometimes by train, sometimes 1 of our group will volunteer to drive, and occasionally we’ve been dropped off and/or picked up. Even if one person is driving, he’ll still join us for 1 beer and some food before the match (which we buy before getting to the ground). I think between the four of us, we’d spend £120 per match at Villa Park if we had options, availability and service.
  6. Chelsea have decided that it’s not feasible to slowly redevelop their current stadium. They are now planning to make a long-term decision between: 1 - build a brand new 60k+ stadium on new site at Earls Court - £500m to buy the land and £1 billion to build the stadium - total cost £1.5 billion. 2 - Move away from Stamford Bridge to a temporary home (probably Wembley) for 6 years. Completely knock down current stadium and build brand new on the same site at a cost of £1 billion. Nearly every club is thinking about a bigger better stadium or have already done that recently. Will we do something similar?
  7. Ahhh shit, here we go again!
  8. We’ve calculated many times previously on VT that just letting everyone buy 1 more drink (on average) would add £4-5 million to the matchday revenue. £5 (1 drink) x 38k (people) x 23 home matches = £4.4 million. In reality, some people will buy nothing extra, but many people would buy 3-4 additional drinks, plus food, if the club gave us an opportunity to with better facilities and service. Thats a huge increase on our current matchday income.
  9. Oh I was going to say the opposite. Looking at our terrible matchday income, a new stadium or new North stand is the only way to add tens of millions to the matchday figure. Were not going to add significant millions by tinkering with the existing stadium.
  10. And this coming 2024/25 season, UEFA rules say our wage bill has to be a maximum of 80%.
  11. Let’s mash these spuds and pretty much secure 4th place!
  12. Good and bad. Bad that they own so many UK houses… but good that at least they are building more houses. Better them building 20k more houses and renting them out rather than the UK having 20k less houses creating even more constraint in supply.
  13. Yes agree BUT we can do the big three opportunities and also do the smaller things. Every £1 million counts and if you can do 50 of these little things at the same time then suddenly that’s an extra £50 million.
  14. That’s tricky to have all 3 lose so for now might be best to want Italians to win, Germans and Spanish to lose. In particular we have to overtake German results to move into the top two countries.
  15. He's also 31 later this month. So i can't see he has a long-term future at Villa.
  16. Yes. Though also a chance that the Italian clubs implode and we overtake them. But they have a decent lead at the moment. Also a chance that Spain do really well and catch up to us, Germany or Italy. It's 2 spots out of the 4 countries and we are currently third.
  17. Oh yes sorry, i meant between this current season 23/24 and next season 24/25.
  18. Yep, realistically we need CL 3 years in a row and at least on one occasion need to make it to the knockouts. That will then start to build some global recognition of Aston Villa which will then bring in the large sponsorship deals.
  19. Hause, Chambers, Olsen, Dendoncker, Coutinho, Digne, Sanson. I think we'll struggle to sell a lot of these, so maybe more loans with us paying part of their salary. Lenglet and Zaniolo will automatically be gone.
  20. I'm pretty certain some other clubs do this. It starts well in advance of the new season (i think the Newcastle one starts in May) so you've always prepaid in advance of where we are in the season.
  21. The Grealish thread is in ‘Other Football’.
  22. Of course they are. Probably jizzing themselves at the excitement of Man Utd taking our place.
  23. 7% seems fair. I expect 14% increase.
