  1. i'd love to see him gone as soon as we 40 hit points. houllier's ratings: 1) Building Team Morale - 5 ..... done more harm than good 2) Player Management - 5 ......has gotten the best out of Downing, thats about it. Helped bring through some young players(that were already coming through before he joined) 3) Results - 4 ... obvious enough here 4) Signings - 8 ...2 very good ones 5) Fan's Confidence - 4 ..... about 60% i guess want him gone at the end of the season 6) Press Relations .... every time he speaks he has a knack of upsetting players, team morale , fans etc... 7) Tactics - 6
  2. I'd love to see Stuart Pearce given a chance. He has exactly the mentality we need. DiMatteo would be a great choice also. A young manager with some fire may be the best for us.....not an old hag like Houllier. If we went for a more experienced manager Jol would be fantastic.
  3. and what about the fact he's led us to have the worst goal difference in the premiership, has alienated many of our players, speaks to the press instead of the players, overtrains the players, doesn't work enough on tactics, has won 3 out of 14 games, prefers to lose to liverpool than to other teams....... is it worth signing a decent ageing midfielder for all that??? how about getting a manager who can inspire a team, build team morale, make the players tactically aware while on the pitch, speaks to the players rather than the press about his issues with them, win matches against waeker sides or even make his players not detest playing under his management?
  4. He is working with players that dont want to wear the shirt full stop! Nothing to do with Houllier,Jol or MON or Moyes or any other Tom Dick or Harry. They HATE Villa.. They all hate Villa,ok i didnt know that.it seems very strange to me that so many have turned, could it be that the manager and his coaching staff are just not getting the best out of a team that should be atleast top half of the table.they all hate Villa my hole, more like the manager that has went blabbing to the press about them.. It could be that Lerner wouldnt back MON...So they hate Lerner, hate the club...Houllier could just be the fall guy..Who knows? thats surely part of it - Lerner and Villa did not match O'Neill's and the players ambitions, plus the players obviously blame Lerner for the loss of O'Neill and for signing houllier(and possibly losing milner for all we know). But houllier takes a big chunk of the blame - a good manager could have handled things much better than he did.
  5. HE Doesn't deserve backing from us or the board. It's like the germans keeping faith in hitler during the middle of world war 2.
  6. 1) Lerner - his lack of ambition paved way for O'Neill's departure. - he signed the useless frog Houllier 2) Houllier - completely useless 3) O'Neill - he left us in the shit, although I dont hold it against him. I agree with him. He wanted to turn the club into a top club. This was not Lerner's top priority. 4) The players - some have been fairly crap lately. But who'd want to be a club with a useless manager and a complete lack of ambition.I don't blame them for not wanting to play for Villa. All in all, everything lies at the feet of the owner. His presumed great knowledge of football after a few years in charged forced a top manager, he signed a manager to replace him who was never going to be the solution. The players as a result dont want to play with a club who have no ambition and are managed by a moron.
  7. liverpool have been blessed with the wrong managers for quite some time now. If you had been fortunate enough to have signed a Mourinho/Guardiola/Wenger/young Fergie type of manager 15 years ago Liverpool could have been the greatest team in the world right now. You certainly had some great players coming through to build on, the big name and large fan base. All you needed was the right man in charge.
  8. Honestly, that is the worst front page article I ever read on this site. 30-40 lines of a mixture of plain sitting on a fence comments on current issues, some truly obvious statements, a cliched anecdote, and even a bit of sucking Houllier's cock about his character and past history(exaggerated also...as if you are hoping houllier reads this and invites you for tea and biscuits) - all to say 'earn our support'.
  9. No, never wanted him as manager and never will. thought it was a disastrous cop out from Lerner from the start. Got a cheap unemployed manager, who had no major ambitions to drive the club higher than 6th. He stated from the begining that his aim was 8th to 12th. He cant' get a full hearted performance out of the team which is the most important factor. This suited Lerner, as he could keep all his Milner money. To be honest I would also like if lerner sold up. Think he handled the O'neill departure disastrously, and the money he wouldn't provide to O'Neill in september will be lost anyways in match attendances, league position, sponsorships, club shop purchases, tv money, sacking a poor manager, and paying for a new one.
  10. Liverpool are playing crap, without gerrard and torres, and we cant even hold onto the ball. rubbish display.
  11. Do people really think that with time Gerrard Houllier is going to turn Villa into a winning team? We shouldn't be in this situation, doing the politically correct thing in giving him 'time' to see if he can miraculously turn into a good manager. He should never have been hired in the first place. His past record has shown he doesn't need to turn into a good manager, he is one. won a couple of french leagues with lyon who were in a class of their own in the league before he joined, wow. some achievement. won just a few cups with liverpool with the players they had. left both clubs in a worse off position than when he joined them. made a balls of the french job. i guess thats why all the big clubs wanted him to join them now. not exactly a top class record over ~30 years Yes, left Liverpool and then they went onto winning the Champions League! Not exactly a top class record over 30 years? and what, the other candidates were? Steve Staunton was even a better candidate.
  12. good footballer. Would prefer an injury free Rosicky though.

  15. Young is completely waste playing in a free role behind the striker. He's a n excellent winger, and it's where he always be played.
  16. very poor display, no organisation at all, defence an absolute mess, we are struggling to create chances...... as my arsenal mate said to me, they'd prefer to play us than Birmingham in the semi.....
  17. fair play to gabby, 1 chance 1 goal. defence looks a shambles. id like to see carew up front with gabby, bannan & clark cm, and get young on the wing where he's dangerous. Switch Dunne with Cueller.
  18. looks like championship material, except for Clark as a defender, who i really rate
  19. No he wasn't He was an attacking midfielder, in a similar mould to Rui Costa but due to being slow, weak and not all that quick with the ball he was moved deeper by Ancelotti so his ability could dictate play without being pressed. Fair enough, but my point still stands as his role in the team was completely changed. bannan looks very good, full of energy, good on the ball, only downside is his size, but then maradonna was a bit of a midget also
  20. yeah, thought that was a bit tongue in cheek myself. the way i look at this, houllier is never going to be fully committed to this job. he's taken a lot of stick in France lately and he's basically trying to spare his heart what he considers an easy job, which he can part manage from Paris, aiming for a Premiership spot between 7th and 12th with a team who have finished 6th 3 years on the trot. On top of that Houllier has never achieved with club or country. Steve Stauaton could manage Lyon and manage 2 league titles. With liverpool , what was it..3 cup wins in 6 years with a lot of money to spend and some world class players. I am not a person who over-reacts regularly on Villa issues, last time was the signing of Heskey when we were 3rd in late January 2 years ago. I think this appointment is going to knock Villa back to the end of the O'Leary years. Any other pro Houllier fans can criticise me for not giving this clown a chance, I don't really care. I am not going to live in false hope over what I consider to be a disastrous appointment. I will still support Villa as strongly as ever, but fear for the club's future over the next couple of years.
  21. Isn't it also great to see that the fans are willing to let some quotes, that are at best lost in translation and at worst ill-advised, pass by them in order to keep the feel-good factor alive at least for his first game in charge. can't help it, i think he is completely wrong manager for the club . if he doesn't turn up for the first game it's a major sign of his attitude towards the club i'd like to come back to this thread in 6 months and who is right/wrong in supporting this clown
  22. well, we'll see if he's there for the Stoke game
