    AVTV 2018/9

Video was fine for me but no commentary for the majority of the second half. It's beyond a joke really
  2. This thread is priceless, an absolute wankfest relishing in us going into administration to us being the jammiest club in the world ?? it's absolutely glorious https://www.smallheathalliance.com/read.php?1,2528869,page=1
  3. Flying in from Bangkok for this, just couldn't miss what's probably the biggest game in my lifetime (I was born in 1984!) Nerves haven't set in yet.. the way i see it, most Villa fans seem confident, most Fulham fans seem confident and the neutrals are mostly favouring Fulham. Bookies have them slight favourites but it's genuinely a 50/50 game and will come down to who wants it more. I'm hoping the experience of our team and their big game experience will see them over the line UTV!

    Bali

Just got back from a week in Bali. My thoughts, Bali is cool.. a lot bigger than I realised and every area seems different to the next. Kuta is a bit of a dump, basically Magaluf for Australians. We stayed in Seminyak which was still quite built up, but had a better vibe about it. Nice beach, if a little over crowded but had good nightlife. We did a day in Ubud and the surrounding areas which was ace. Felt like being in an Indiana Jones movie or something like that, amazing history and architecture. The highlight for me actually wasn't Bali, but the time we spent on the Gili Islands which are a small set of islands about 1.5 hours off the coast of Bali. Amazing vibe, bit of a hippy feel to it. There's no cars or bikes there so the only way to get around is by bicycle or horse and cart, and has some really nice beaches with beach bars etc. The nightlife is excellent though, loads of beach parties going on through the night. Gili Trawangan is the biggest, but we actually preferred Gili Air
  5. I decided at the start of the season to just buy the games individually as I knew a lot of them would be on TV, or that i wouldn't be able to watch them due to kick off times and the time difference here. I've found the service to be good for the games in which I've paid for. Thankfully all the ones either broadcast on TV at home or internationally are shown on Thai TV so i've been able to watch all of them for free
  6. Less of this PC shit please. It's a light hearted take on the popular "villa, stella, balti" banner given our new Chinese owners! Get a grip
  7. We didn't deserve to win yesterday and were beaten by the better team overall but was still a blow to concede so late. Let's not under underestimate Swansea though, they are a good team and hard to beat and it was never going to be an easy game. Delph was excellent as was Clark. We have to hope QPR and Hull both lose this afternoon and we are as we were, would have been nice to have widen the gap from the bottom 3 and it really does make the QPR game a must win
  8. definitely a feel good vibe around the club and fans at the moment and the confidence must be high but I just can't see us winning 4 on the bounce. 2-2 I'm going to go for but fingers crossed another rocking villa park and Swansea not really having much to play for plays into our hands
  9. I have absolutely no idea why I feel optimistic about this one but I fancy a 2-1 villa win with Benteke amongst the goals for villa.
  10. yes mine still haven't arrived, not long left now either Spoke to them today and mine got posted yesterday, cutting it fine with Christmas post!
  11. Mine still haven't arrived :s anyone else in the same boat?
  12. I'm unfortunately feeling under the weather today so won't be able to make the game.. All my friends and family either already have plans or tickets already so my season ticket at present is going to waste! Would rather someone went than no one at all so happy to give it away on a first come first served basis on here! It's in K4, Upper Holte and the printed ticket can be picked up from Trinity Road Ticket Office. All i'd ask is behave yourself as the ticket is still strictly speaking under my name!! PM Me
  13. Couldn't get into the game first half but excellent finish by Benteke to make it 1-1. Look a different team second half and definitely deserved a point, if not all 3. Cech made 2 excellent saves from Weimann and Agbonhalor came whiskers away too.. didn't see the hand ball as my stream went down but alot seemed to go their way from the ref Delph man of the match, really starting to show what we paid the money for. Hope he can kick on and have a good season

    Pubs?

Think we're going to start in the griffin in Farringdon. It's basically a boozer that isn't overpriced but has strippers performing shows, they come round every 20 mins or so and you just put a £1 in the pint glass. Think private dances are available too! Opens at midday too! Beer, strippers, villa away.. can't think of a better saturday afternoon to be honest
  15. Chinese whispers. I can't see any statement by AVFC other than the stuff on the official website previewing the game among the other 'development squad' fixtures - here. I think they should look to their own club for the nature of the publicity & pricing of the fixture. Well he is commercial manager for Newport so is pretty involved with the day to day running of the club. If he said Villa agreed to field 5 first team players I'm inclined to believe it to be honest. I agree completely about the pricing of the fixture just don't like to hear about the club conducting themselves in anything but a professional manner
  16. A mate of mine works for Newport, I was talking to him before the game and he was saying that villa had promised 5 players from the first team. They were pretty annoyed we didn't honour it! Pretty disrespectful if that is the case, not only to Newport but also the villa fans who travelled down for it

    Tickets

Just spoke to the ticket office and the allocation for this is 2900 Looking forward to gettnig my ticket tomorrow then the countdown can really begin
  18. Comes as no surprise and i couldn't even be bothered to listen to it or regularly check the score, thats how disillusioned i am with this team now! Lambert has had my backing until now but i really can't see light at the end of the tunnel. I see no benefit in sacking him, who else can we bring in? There's no money to spend, it's the end of January so they will be working with the same inept team. Yet if we keep him i can't see where our next win is going to come from and relegation is more than likely i feel. Stuck between a rock and a hard place
  19. I'd stick to the same starting 11 as against Swansea. Potential banana skin but i'm hopeful of coming away with the 3 points
  20. Excellent TEAM performance, best Villa performance in god knows how long. Intense tempo, excellent pressing all over the pitch the work rate of the team was incredible. Guzan: - 8 - Two excellent saves in the first half, commanded his area well. Given is going to struggle to get back into the team Lowton: 9 - Excellent strike for the goal, impressive work rate.. really big threat going forward Lichaj: 7 - Looked good going forward, was sloppy at times though and his positioning could have been better on occasions but very promising performance Concrete Ron: 10 - An absolute rock and a ready made captain. Solid at the back, comfortable on the ball and that run in the 2nd half  - Villa legend material Clark: 8 - Looks to be forming a good partnership with Ron, defensive positioning suspect at times but this will improve. Real threat from corners, will chip in with a few more goals this morning El Ahmadi: 8 - Comfortable on the ball, pulls the strings in midfield and is a threat going forward. Very shrewd signing Holman: 7 - Absolute work horse, runs and runs and runs.. gets into some really good positions and was involved in some good moves. His first touch is quite poor and is his passing can be sloppy but i like him Bannan: 7 - Good deliveries and nice and composed on the ball.. doesnt pull the strings like El Ahmadi, i'm still not 100% convinced by him Ireland: 7 - Some very nice through balls and first time touches, didn't see enough of the ball for me but he's without doubt our most creative force.. we should try and get him more involved Weimann 7 - Worked hard, was unlucky with a couple of attempts. Again not 100% convinced that he will ever be anything more than a bit part player for us Bent 7 - Worked hard and must be frustrating for him as there was very little of type of service he lives on. Looked to link up well with Benteke when he came on which was promising - Benteke: 8- Could have had a hat trick, great at holding up the play and looks comfortable on the ball. Excellent anticipation for his goal, has the potential to go on to be a very good player for us Westwood: 7 - Didn't really notice him too much but that's probably down to the poor stream i watched it on when it was hard to distinguish one player from another. NZogbia: 6 - Typical performance we've come to expect from him, just not good enough i'm afraid
  21. Had high hopes for him and thought he could be a good player for us but seems it's not gonna work out! Probably best to to try and cash in now and get what we can for him and invest in a player that's worthy of the shirt
  22. I was intent on moving to Thailand to work prior to that match. Dates sorted, on the verge of booking flights, accommodation sorted, job potentially sorted etc etc. It was that goal that convinced me that i couldn't move to the other side of the world! The away end went absolutely beserk, such a vital goal! Will definitely be looking into doing this one!
  23. Spoke to plenty of black and Asian English fans, all encountered no trouble. Ditto this, all actually laughed when i asked if they'd encountered any racist bother.
