  1. I think his club average is 2-3 years, some of that his choosing and some of that the clubs I guess. I'd like to think he's here for a project but I also worry that getting us into the champions league would have him thinking he's hit our ceiling. If he gets a chance at a big job (United, bayern, barca, real) then he's off I'm sure.
  2. No where near Young for me, Young did this for consecutive seasons, could play left, right and down the middle. Went on to win everything. Even now he's adapted to play a premier league full back role and can do it either side (something we don't ask any of our current full backs to do). Bailey (as much as I'm enjoying him) hasn't even done it consistently for this season.
  3. Personally I wouldnt sell either...but If you did need to sell Ramsey, Diaby, buendia then they are sellable to teams below you. Watkins, Luiz, etc will only go to clubs above you and there aren't many of those. Are we that confident that Buendia is coming back effective. He's got an injury to get over and we're now asking him to contribute to a top 4 side. I don't see Buendia starting for Arsenal, Liverpool, City and I think that is where we're trying to be.
  4. I'm a bit nervous about this. We've needed these high earners at some point and next season if we make champions league we will need an even higher quality to rely on. Digne has played a lot of games, lenglet a previous high earning fringe player has been essential and probably dendonker would be getting some game time if he was still here.
  5. Looks like chambers is coming on to me. Very lengthy warm up
  6. brilliant, regardless of form, it will feel like a big tie between two European giants. I dont want easy ties, i want fun games that i can get excited about.
  7. Is it possible that Zaniolo has some form of compulsory purchase clause based on appearances? Im struggling to understand why he isnt used more frequently. especially compared to his run of games at the start of the season and our subsequent injury crisis.
  8. These recently released accounts are not a huge surprise for me but they really highlight the problem with the recent fixation on FFP. Its important that we remember that FFP is about allowable LOSSES and that they are in fact that, Losses. No other business in the world carries on running in this instance. Everytime we scrap out compliance with FFP, our owners are digging deeper into their pockets. In my experience this only happens for so long before they decide to cash in and pass the baton on.
  9. based on our recently reported losses. Im struggling to see where the club is getting the money to invest in a new stadium tbh
  10. I hate this narrative, I don't remember prices going down when we got relegated.
  11. Good point. It's closer and probably has two price increases since then. I'm still expecting another unfortunately.
  12. The biggest proportion of matchday per fan is still ticket income and ours is unfortunately still far to low for a premier league club. I think we have a proportionally higher number of season tickets compared to others and that is one of the biggest problems for the club. I'd predict another 15% rise on my season ticket is coming in the summer.
  13. I'm very torn on the alleged letter from villa employees. I have absolutely no doubt that activities are happening behind the scenes that make some season employees uncomfortable. What we don't know is how necessary some of those things are. I've worked in a lot of business' that require change. Villa is definitely one. This forum is full of poor service examples from the ticket office, the match day staff and our finances point to the fact that we have an awful lot of waste. Im sympathetic to those impacted by the change but also not surprised that the changes are necessary.
  14. Has he progressed quicker? Buendia has been training at bodymoor for some time I thought.
  15. while i hate to be a cynic, the timing of this news alongside our recent injuries is a bit sus. im not believing it.
  16. my feeling as well. it looked an easy chance but hes arriving late, the defender is favourite and its a reaction shot. Makes great contact, keeper just in the perfect place. Just not our day, thought Ollie was great in better the boxes, just not good enough in side them. Can probably say the same for the entire team.
  17. This for me is the problem. A bus typically holds 50 fans, a round trip to anywhere meaningful after the game is an hour. So we need to dream up 100 buses to shift 5000 fans. Costs and availability a huge issue I imagine.
  18. Same, short term pain, long term gain. Hes not match sharp, lets introduce him in a sensible way and get him back for the c20 games weve still got this season in the league and europe. The United game will not define our season.
  19. hes got to play eventually though? If hes not able to be risked for 30 minutes on Wednesday, hes probably not playing 90 minutes on Sunday.
  20. Appeared late for half time yesterday and then went through quite a rigorous warm up. i was convinced we were about to see him introduced and surprised he didnt get a half hour run out. Id be really surprised to see him come in from the cold against United.
  21. i dont think Cash covered himself in glory, but really what is he supposed to do. He was so often 2 on 1 with no support. My feeling is that Unai has often taken Bailey out of the team for this reason. Great attacking output but no defensive discipline.
  22. I think he gives the defensive stability you don't get from Bailey. I'd be starting him every week while we don't have Konsa. Cash was completely over ran on the right.
  23. You also need to factor the wage increase. A few million a year more is still. A few million a year more. We cant afford to bloat the wage bill either. I wouldn't consider a new contract for Buendia
