  1. That's the difference for those that are in the "they're both as bad" camp. Being president should be having a lot of intelligent people experts in their field around you to take and act on the best advice available. When you replace those people with sycophants who know next to nothing about their brief you get Trumps, Johnsons and Truss's.
  2. What a catastrophic evening. We’re sleepwalking towards trump 2.0 and it’s terrifying. It’s a shame his wife isn’t inclined to talk some sense into Biden and get him to stand aside.
  3. Too old to me say's he's unfit. He's not been the worst president, not even close but when his major achievement was getting there in the first place to beat out an orange fascist it's not saying much. He's been poor to average. It's not just "right wing propaganda". He's old, slowing down, slurring and forgetting obvious things a man in that position ought to know. I don't know if he has dementia, but he certainly should be tested. My 96 year old grandmother has dementia and I recognise enough in what I'm seeing from Biden that we should be concerned. It's not just him though, Trump is also too old. You've also got senators and congressmen serving well into old age (as we have here with MP's and Peers), some of them on the supreme court are there for life. That can't be right. There's got to be some kind of upper limit imposed otherwise you get the situation we have now where you might as well put Dick Van Dyk up against Bill Shatner and be done with it.
  4. Totally. It's a choice between someone 'unfit for office' and 'dangerous and unfit for office'
  5. Just seen the clips of Biden confusing France with Germany, macron with Mitterrand (who’s been dead nearly 30 years) and unable to remember the name of hamas. This year really is like that South Park episode where the voters have to decide between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.
  6. Well unless he plans to be the first immortal human in history it’ll happen at some point. He’s definitely not making it to 96 like liz.
  7. King Charles diagnosed with cancer. No mention of what it is or how far along.
  8. Keep waking up and checking to see if the US have responded to the Iranian drone strike yet. They just look ridiculous at the minute. “We’re going to respond” “we’ve decided our response”…wait, leak what you plan to do, talk some more shit…nothing. In the meantime all the targets you might have struck have been emptied of all the high value targets making anything you might do pretty much pointless.
  9. Well we all have our strategic interests, don't we? Iran want to push the western nations out of the region so they can have a free hand as one of the dominant powers. Western nations don't want a situation where one nation rises to that prominent position which would threaten oil supplies and international trade through Suez. It wasn't that long ago that the US (under Trump) assassinated one of the IRG generals in a drone strike so I get what you're saying. Ultimately though the situation will need addressing at some point. Either the US will have to deal with Iran either diplomatically or militarily or leave the region.
  10. It certainly feels like the US are being tested on multiple fronts right now, in Ukraine, the Middle East and in Taiwan. They look weak and massive risk averse and it’s encouraging enemies to be bolder in their rhetoric and provocation. It might makes sense to strike inside Iran as a warning to everyone else that the US is still willing to make tough decisions.
  11. It's weird because you look at other sports (Rubgy, Cricket, NFL etc) which don't have segregation and largely it all goes off without any trouble at all, except for odd idiot. Personally I think segregation has to some degree created more of a problem than would otherwise have been. You've got 2 sets of fans in their designated areas shouting abuse at each other in something like a mob mentality. If you gradually introduced "mixed" or "neutral" areas to stadiums you might find that to some degree alleviates some of the problems without totally killing the atmosphere of the game. I think to some degree the league and media encourage the tribalism thing because we all love the atmosphere of a big derby. At the end of the day we're all just fans and human beings and if you were sat next to an opposition fan and could have a laugh and a beer together, discuss and watch the game in a friendly way as happens in other sports over the world, surely that's better.
  12. Regardless of how you feel about immigration it was a **** horrific bit of politics to use the word "stop". That's surely impossible, short of putting gun boats in the channel and machine gunning a load of unarmed people in inflatables. It does kind of give the game away though. The crowd they're pandering to don't want to reduce the numbers, they don't want to control the numbers, they just want no more brown folk coming in.
  13. Surely this is some kind of AI fakery? I’m just waiting for that mission impossible moment where he rips his face off and reveals himself to be Vladimir Putin.
  14. I don't think anyone can get into their minds and say what they would or wouldn't do in a hypothetical scenario. I can only judge on what they do and whether it's within reason. They could have gone and signed him for 100m and we're all then well within our rights to say it's obviously corrupt but he's a 29 year old winger, who played a big part in the team finishing top 4 last season, played in this seasons Champions League and Premier League as a regular. Would I want Villa paying 25-30m for Almiron? No, because I don't rate him. Do I think that amount is unreasonable for someone to pay that? Not really. Let's not forget, these are the people who threw a disgusting amount of money at Mbappe to try and lure him to their league. They seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
  15. Definitely agree with this. It’s just not going to work anymore. If I could get to Canada, NZ or Australia I would go on a heartbeat. There’s just nothing to like about this country anymore that would compel me to fight for it. It’s been sold off by corrupt words removed who would no doubt find some way to exempt themselves and all their mates. We’re barely even a democracy anymore tbh just capitalists on steroids.
  16. All I’m hearing is 25-30m. They paid 20m for him and there’s a rumoured sell on clause that would deprive them of some of that as well. Im all for jumping on the “Newcastle are just corrupt shills for oil Arab sportswashing” bandwagon but I don’t think it’s particularly justifiable here. They’re overpaying but not by an outrageous amount that screams obvious corruption. The league do need to look at that sleeve sponsorship thing though. That stinks to high heaven.
  17. Stop the thread, we have a winner. It's interesting they have nothing to say about organisations that typically report in their favour. The BBC is a publicly funded entity so it's right they're held to a different standard but it's always struck me that they go out of their way to ensure balance, even when it's difficult to justify. Does seem like all they want is to avoid scrutiny for their under performance/lies/corruption and they'll use any tool in the box to shut it down. On the Gaza hospital thing. They weren't the only ones to misreport that. It's an active warzone where reporters have been denied access and even if they weren't, sending in reporters when you know the danger to life is unacceptable is something they should rightfully consider carefully. If they're not happy with the reporting on that and think it strays to bias then surely there's a mechanism to investigate it properly and independantly without the secretary of state making a policitcal point of it? I haven't looked into it so I don't know if that actually happened.
  18. Tbf it was dead a long time ago. I'm not even sure a palestinian state that was made up of Gaza and the West bank is even a viable state. Is there a solution to make all the palestinians citizens of Israel with the same rights as a jewish israeli? The Israeli's probably wouldn't want that because they're concerned about how introducing a bunch of non-jewish voters who you would assume vote for palestinian parties and the palestinians would see it as a second rate solution to their own state?
  19. Throbbers gonna throb. The dead man walking has called a news conference sowe may get our wish
  20. I respect your opinion, but I fundametally disagree, you old ****! BCS is a fantastic show though. If Starmer had half the presentation of Saul the Tories would be more screwed than they already are!
  21. Milot Rashica? He was rubbish and they got relegated so now he's plying his trade in the Turkish farmers league. We've moved on.
  22. I wonder what percentage of the UK population would get the Better Call Saul reference. I think if you're over 35 it's going to be pretty low. Does include the "T" word though so it's definitely going to appeal to the crowd that would say "honestly, I'm definitely not racist, but..."
  23. Has the last few years taught you nothing? These people have no standards, morals or sense of shame.
  24. We all know it’s unworkable but it’s not dead until the Tory throbbers who want to pull us out of the echr have crawled back into their holes. There’s always the danger that we’ll get someone dangerous or a useful idiot like truss or Johnson who’ll just make the decision to bulldoze it through regardless of how unworkable, illegal or immoral it is.
  25. I highly doubt they’ll lose the vote on the actual bill. If they do then the policy is effectively dead along with the prospect of removing us from the echr the hardliners want. It confirms Sunak as a busted flush and makes the spring general election none of them want more likely. The whole thing is just a shambles from start to finish though. How much time and money has been spent on this when the rest of the country has been hurting badly and just wants them to get on with fixing the economy, nhs and pretty much everything else they’ve broken.
