  1. i can't believe some people think Lambert is a good manager but there you go. And for those defending the benteke dropping why not the same criteria re cleverly ?

  4. Surely Lambert has no more time. The guy has failed time after time, the quite ridiculous defending of him is a contributary factor as to why he is still here runining the club with his woeful managerial performance. Get rid of the waste of space, stealing a wage, a terrible manager whos record shows him to be one of the worst ever at the club. Get rid now
  5. We'll get steadily worse under each successive manager unless there's investment. The one thing we've got going for us is Lambert's eye for a good transfer deal. total myth. How many players has he signed and how many have improved the club. :-) Glad you asked that: Guzan Vlaar Senderos Okore Cissokho Sanchez Gil Benteke Plus a lot of squad players who cost very little money and can do a job, e.g. Westwood, Bacuna, Lowton, Kozak It may be that Lambert could use the advice of a good, experienced assistant manager when it comes to formations and tactics, but his improvement to the squad on the budget he's had is actually heroic. :-) amazing weak justification for a poor argument . Senderos? Guzan ... Ah the old he wasnt a villa player argument i suppose. Great to see where these players have taken us i suppose a list as long as the m6 of broken records for poor performance, insipid football, record defeats, losses year after year to lower league teams, .. Do we need to go on? Basically you are trying to prove lamberts ability based on benteke

  7. So he actually said "we go again" on his interview with Sky? Nurse! Nurse! up the medication now
  8. If you defend him now then you really are either a. Trolling b. A sha fan c. Mrs lambert d. In need of medical attention
  9. Whats the crack with that then? Is that par for the course in the Orthodox press. short version is I think it's orthodox Jews being clearings in the woods in the name of religion ..... Apparently it's a similar problem to the one the Saudi's have with females driving cars. If they show pictures of females, some men might use those pictures to judge their own wives superficially and realise they've been short changed in the 'not looking like a dead horse' department. This can subsequently lead to the men being less sexually interested in their own woman that they bought fairly and squarely. This in turn, obviously, can lead to accidental homosexuality. This in turn is why the Egyptian army have had to invent a cure for AIDS / HIV, which I'm guessing is now top secret as they went quiet on that one recently when asked for any scientific validation they might have. It's just easier to cut out the pictures of women than risk it. I once flew Saudi airlines from Manchester to Saudi. The flight was on a Monday morning and it followed a very heavy weekend of lots of beer and basic debauchery. So to pass the many hours I had on the flight and to continue the sober process, I had purchased all of the red tops - Sun, Mirror, Star etc to read the football reports. Only struck me that this was a wrong move when I looked at the in-flight movies and they had pixelated any skin showing on women other than a bit of their faces. Arms, legs etc. Looking at the newspapers I had with me compared to the way they censored what they officially could see, showed how different their culture is.
  10. ATM? - His record shows it has not worked for him throughout his time at Villa. The desperation to avoid long term analysis of Lambert's poor performance in charge of Villa is frankly toe curling. Simply put Paul Lambert has and is failing. We all know of the restrictions that Lerner has placed on the club but Lambert was happy to continue to steal a wage when offered and especially with the frankly ridiculous contract extension. The man is so out of his depth he is like Ronnie Corbett trying to shop in the Big & Tall section. He is disruptive, divisive and has no strategy in terms of one of, if not the key element of the club, the playing style (at all levels). Previous managers were criticised for their teflon suit approach where none of the issues were their fault, see DOL and McLeish as examples, so what do we see from the man with the suit so shiney and slippy it could be sponsored by Mr Sheen? Nothing, blaming the fans - see the comments after last match. We now see more drivel after the Leicester debacle about new players and how they will fix the problem. Why should anyone believe him? He has failed, failed at all levels. Get rid now and replace with .........
  11. I actually loathe the man now. If he had anything about him he would resign, but no he keeps stealing a wage and inflicting more damage on our club. A terrible manager and if anyone can support him now then I suspect other motives other than wanting what is best for OUR club
  12. Robert Mugabe backwards is what a Yorkshire bloke would say if he found some mints
  13. Playing Devil's advocate I think he has seen what Gabby and Andi are capable of when they link up with Benteke so I'd imagine he is doing that. This window is massive for us. Maybe this is his new assistant?
  14. Rodders hope you don't mind picking apart what is a decent post (in terms of laying out your views) - nothing against you or your views but a good post concise with many of the pro-Lambert views This is something that we often see and hear, especially from those trying to cover for Lambert's failings. The answers is simple. He was a decent (not good) player who won a few trophies, so what? Playing attributes often mean bugger all for managers and coaches. Was SAF, or Jose or Wenger for example good players? Going back a while, probably two of the best English players ever in messers Bobby Moore and Charlton, were pretty poor managers. Also this frankly toe curling attempt that seems to be shoe horned in every now and again because he played for Dortmund etc. What exactly is that is that proving? I would suspect that the Dortmund that he played in is a fair bit different to what it is today and more importantly what is needed to succeed in the English leagues. Now none of us want a ranting Stuart Pearce for example as a manager, but praising Lambert's demeanour is pretty strange given that the general consensus from reading many football forums (not just Villa ones) is that he comes across a mumbling, hard to understand, rabbit in the headlights character. I think you would struggle to find anyone who is supportive of Lerner's approach to the club now in terms of real investment in players. The key issue here is your ;last bit. We hear that a few times from various people but very little evidence to show why that is the case in terms of playing style at all levels of the club. The accusation of blind faith (rightly IMO at times) gets thrown back and there is little counter argument against this. For me (and many I would suspect) the evidence is there for all to see that Lambert is NOT the man to take Villa forward given the circumstances that Lerner has placed us under. The facts are pretty damning, whereas the counter view seems pretty much based on a desire for Villa to succeed, which is ironic given that is one of the few key issues that both sides of the argument agree on and want for the club Firstly I don't get the age argument. Surely you said previously that he was an experienced footballer with great exposure to winning things to paraphrase, so why does his age have any relevance in this? One key point you do make is his premier league manager experience and his record shows him to be poor at that. Now if we look at other leagues then why not replace him with some other manager from the lower leagues who has done well? You say give him time, how much exactly? nearly 3 years is a near eternity in football and there is no light at the end of the tunnel in respect to what he is doing at levels of the club in respect to the footballing style we play I would disagree (and please Guzan? really? - he was a Villa player when he got here - Note: I know very well the situation with his contract at the time etc) Personally I do not buy in at all to the idea that he has done a good job here. Buying players as you know is not just about the transfer fee there are a lot of other factors that go along with that. For me being a generous soul I think he has done OK, nothing more. The key issue here is obviously Lerner, but far too often Lambert is able to hide behind this when people start to question his value and worth to the club A few points here. You say the players love him, do they? from what I have heard they don't "love him" as such and his record in his assistants certainly caused a great deal of unrest at the club. When you say developing youth etc, I would argue that you are actually pointing out of his biggest failings. AVFC for a long time had an academy that did well and produced a long stream of players that were considered for the first team. Do we do that now? what has changed? The players you mention, some of them are a regular source of fodder for criticism in many threads on VT for example. Personally I think he has no idea how to manage the more experienced player nor provide leadership and guidance for those less experienced A key issue has been his style of play and the complete lack of idea. Look back to the Bradford debacle as a perfect example. I keep hearing about tightening up the defence but how exactly has (if it really has) been achieved. Returning Hutton, someone he personally froze out of the club? are we just a negative "don't lose at any cost" team? Wasn't that one of the criticisms that many threw at McLeish for example? The numerous bad records that have been broken by Lambert during his tenure shows that he has failed both in style and development of the squad. There is hardly anything out there now that backs up the optimism you show in your last sentence Genuinely shocked and amazed that you would find his quote - "endearing". Again why the young manager thing, he isn't young and by your earlier quote he is supposedly experienced. To be nearly 3 years into a job and still have no idea what your football philosophy is shows a complete lack of understanding of what is required IMO and basically an admission that has no clue as to how to improve things other than hope something happens I am struggling with this one as this is one that many who support Lambert often throw out. Struggling in as much as I cannot see how and why this is a credible reason to keep the bloke. For every Moyes I can throw up at least 10 counters, e.g. Paul Jewell, Owen Coyle etc etc As for the last bit sir, in Lambert I, and many others, certanly do NOT trust - get rid and get rid now !!! (Note: Rodders as said the above was not aimed at you but your post was one of the few that basically put all of the few arguments left to support Lambert in one post)
  15. Waiting for the excuses to be spewed out again from a certain group of fans and Lambert again What about "we were let down by ........ Lambert! " A terrible manager, has been for a very long time and if not already is killing our club at so many levels. Why people defend him is beyond me and show more about their own persona and insecurities than the subject of Lambert and his inability to do a job at Villa. Oh for the day when SSn report "Sky sources tell us that Paul Lambert has left AVFC"
  16. That's what happens with a Gvmt like we have .........
  17. The BBC too, more's the pity. Murdoch supports Salmond as well. Divide and conquer. The typical UKIP "supporter" is basically a bigot, with racist at worst, xenophobic at best views on most of the core issues that actually make a difference to society (the word that most right wingers despise). Those mentioned in this thread (eg Mail etc) who are supporting the publicity behind that piece of right wing bottom droppings, Farage, really are as much to blame because of their lack of accountability . You see AWOL claiming again that UKIP "won" the European elections, why? Farage is not now leader of Europe is he? so how exactly did they win, but that is old ground but it does show that the right wing are desperate to try and claim some sort of credibility to hide behind while the real damage can be inflicted with most people distracted about how 4545400000 Romanians are now living in London mansions, easting their tea at the Ritz paid for by the wages and taxes of war veterans. The real UKIP does ooze out occasionally as we saw earlier about the denial of climate change etc, which I suppose is why they are now hiring legal teams to try and keep anything that will give away the real policy set out of the public domain.

  20. Super Gabby's wasn't fantastic, but Delph's was atrocious
  21. considering how he has managed to con his way with a certain section of Villa fans even though the records show him to be one of the worst managers ever, maybe Ashley would want him to do the same with the most delusional set of fans ever, the short wave radio army. If he was any good, and he isn't, then a job like Newcastle would be certainly one that he would be lined up for.
