  1. General, Way back in July 2006 i like many other Villa fans sent an email message through the Cleveland Browns website for the attention of Mr Randy Learner as follows; Dear Sir, I have been an Aston Villa FC fan for over fifty years and in spite of my current discontent and frustration at the running of my club I still renew my Season Ticket year after year. The opportunity to oust the current Chairman Doug Ellis together with a new owner and regime in place to offer the loyal supporter base our pride back is an opportunity that I sincerely hope transpires in the near future. Your reported interest gave every single Villa fan I know a huge lift and in spite of Doug Ellis I can assure you that you would be treated with the utmost resect should you be encouraged to follow up ypur initial interest. From a commercial viewpoint Villa is a sleeping Giant and there would be a tremendous rollercoaster ride for the next owners should they make the investment required. Please let it be you and I can safely say that you, your team and the Aston Villa fans would never regret it. Kind Regards. At the time I sent this email I could not have imagined that the progress both on and off the field and less than two years later has been immence and certainly beyond my wildest dreams. Long may this progress continue in persuit of returning Aston Villa back to where every Villa fan believes they rightly belong at the very pinnacle of the game. We are certainly on the march again and getting stronger with every step. Thanks again to Mr Lerner, yourself and every member of the team for everthing.
  2. General, As this was posted while you were away, have you any comments or answer?

Well put PB, says it all far more eloquently than I could have done. Keep the faith. Villa forever.
  4. What a miserable, pesimistic, depressing view you have taken on board Malcolm. Whilst you consider the 'patience blarney' to be only for the optimistic amongst us can I remind you that MON was calling for realism when we on our unbeaten run. He understands there is a lot of work to do and also understands that new players will be required and that this Summer will be crucial in the re-building process required. Thank god you have no influence over decision making at VP!! In spite of your ramblings I and many others look forward and FULLY SUPPORT the continuing efforts to drag the Villa back into contention in the not too distant future. No one ever said it would be an easy ride but if you and so called supporters like you keep letting down the tyres then the journey will be less enjoyable. Villa forever.
  5. General, This is the first time I've communicated with you on VTand I would confirm the views of everyone here that having the new regime in place is like a breath of fresh air. Long may it last re the attitude that the new Board have taken in ensuring that the Villa fans have a say and really mean something to the Club. This is particularly true of your own refreshing approach and real interest both in the Villa, it's History as well as the fans and I would endorse others views and show my own appreciation for making me feel a part of the club I have followed for just about fifty years. Welcome and thanks to all. Just one little quibble which I experienced today which you may want to address? I am a Season Ticket holder , but went to the ticket office at the back of the North stand today (to purcase three tickets for a work colleague who I have been encouraging to come and take a look) at 10 o'clock and was refused entry in my car to the empty car park in front of the ticket office and shop. I was given the reason that it is a match day and although I remarked that the game was still some ten hours away was informed that I should find somewher to park on the road outside and to then walk back to the ticket office!! I am not the only one who was a bit put out by this stance and the unbending attitude of the security staff. Indeed it reminded me of the attitude shown by the previoue regime and dissapointed me when all I was trying to do was to put more 'bums on seats'for tonight. Even now a few hours on I still can not understand why we could not drive right up to the ticket office, purcahase the tickets in full knowledge that my vehicle was safe and then quickly depart. It does not appear on the face of it that the security staff have any commercial nouse or common sense. I could understand it if the kick off was 2/3 hors away but not 10 hours!!. Anyway rant over and lets all hope for a great night and a victory to look forward to and celebrate.
  6. Pete, this is a perfect summary of a fantastic first six months of MON's tenure. Sometimes I get frustrated and downhearted with some of the negative posts on VT, but thats all part of the scene i suppose. When I read the positive type of post that you have submitted together with the one's sent to the General regarding recent Villa Park visits from supporters who really make the effort and the response they receive it makes it feel good to be a Villa man. Let's all stay positive and contiue to back MON and the new regime and I am more convinced then ever in the fifty+ years I have supported the Villa that really great times are ahead.
  7. At last, someone with a bit of sense. Well done Bob and welcome.
  8. General You really are a Villa legend. To respond to myb in the way you have is attention to detail in the highest way possible. I thankyou and Mr Lerner and the boys in the boardroom from the bottom of my heart.
  9. Brilliant article Malc, puts a lump in the throat. We must be a similar age as I also recall and was present at all those great moments in our history that makes us Villa men. Work prevents me going but may good fortune follow the brave. RD
  10. Am I being thick or why can't we utilise the Season Ticket Sales monies for our required transfer pot right now? This must be approx £6 mill if the 16500 season ticket sales are correct. Add to this the money generated by the sales of Phillips and Berson and any Sky or TV money available right now and there must be a tidy sum available for the short term? RD
