  1. Generally pick up the New York Post (Murdoch paper) for the editorial page, business, and sports sections. Regular reader of the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe, alongside the local rag, the Springfield Republican. As far as the British press goes, I try to check the Guardian and Telegraph sites daily...
  2. I voted 50 - 75%... I have discovered the joy of sitting to piss. No mess, no aiming, and an opportunity to relax.
  3. Inspired by the dump or no dump thread... How much of the time do you sit to piss? (for simplicity's sake, only counting instances where circumstances dictate the choice).
  4. As someone who's been known to go on a 600 mile roadtrip for no apparent reason, pretty much anything east of Detroit and north of Atlanta is in play for me (Cleveland and a friendly in Foxboro, perhaps?). If there is a US tour next summer, I may be willing/able to provide ground transportation for a few VT'ers who want to save on car rental... just pitch in on the petrol or a pint or two at the end of the day and I'll call it even
  5. I'd heard of team owners/directors blogging about areas of interest to them outside of their sport/team (for the record, a blog from you would be very interesting reading, if an interview with Jim Lehrer is anything to go by...), but to post at fan discussion boards (non-covertly) is something new! The closest I can think of is Curt Schilling posting at Sons of Sam Horn, but that's a by-invitation-only forum.
  6. I subscribe to Sirius Satellite Radio... it's the best $12.95/month I've spent in forever. I'm listening to Gary Dell'Abate get roasted right now on the Stern show. BuzzSaw, NFL Radio, and Sports Play-By-Play 1 are worth the subscription price, Stern show or no Stern show. I have DirecTV, for which I pay $50-plus a month, and I get a lot more overall from Sirius. Truly, the best radio on radio. BABA BOOEY! ^^^^ My radio... it's a couple of years old (doesn't have the replay or artist seek features that the newer ones have, but it works for me)
  7. OT, but: Why not create a Front Page articles forum?
  8. gotta be the most photogenic certainly I vote for lemurs...
  9. Yes please, could you let me know - thanks I have one in my possession (wasn't in at the first larger shop (CVS) I tried, but the second (Walgreens) attempt was successful). The labeling touts "Bold, rich chocolate, golden caramel," and "vanilla nougat". The ingredient list cites "semisweet chocolate", which wikipedia indicates is dark chocolate with a high sugar content (probably to placate the American sweet tooth...). It doesn't necessarily strike my fancy; my chocolate bar preferences tend to run towards the regular Snickers with a Snickers Cruncher chaser.
  10. Not sure whether they ship to the UK, but...
  11. There is a Milky Way Midnight... I'll have to check one of the more extensive emporia to check one out in the flesh...
  12. I can confirm that the North American Milky Way bar is chocolate caramel, and dark nougat, fwiw...
  13. Of course, that bar is called a "Milky Way Midnight"... Describe your standard Mars Bar - type of chocolate plain or milk? colour of filling brown or white? It was a fair few years ago now but when I was in the states a Mars Bar had plain chocolate and a White filling along with the caramelm - over here ours are kilk chocolate and a brown filling with the caramel The American Milky Way bar is the closest thing in the US stable of Masterfoods to the Mars bar. Wikipedia saith that "the Milky Way bar is similar to the Mars bar sold elsewhere". The ingredient list (for the run of the mill Milky Way) is: milk chocolate (list of ingredients thereof omitted), corn syrup, sugar, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, skim milk, cocoa power processed with alkali, lactose, malted barley, wheat flower, salt, egg whites, artificial flavor I'll pick one up later and investigate further...
  14. Of course, that bar is called a "Milky Way Midnight"...
  15. Why not have the Champions League of Chocolate Bars poll? Break them down into groups in different polls, and so forth...
  16. I say strong defense (I'm a Yank, I'm allowed! )will yield a clean sheet for Villa, but we'll steal a goal somewhere in there... 1-0 to the Villa in a style that will not silence the moaning about the boring football.
  17. About which the NFL is almost certain to have some words with Randy about. Agreements signed under the Ellis tenure (32Red, bookmaker links on the official site, etc.) will probably be allowed to play out, with Randy being unable to renew them. The NFL prohibits any advertising for gambling on their TV broadcasts... including advertising for tourist destinations that feature gambling (i.e. Vegas). The NFL even prohibits the NBC network from promoting Las Vegas during game broadcasts.
  18. Browns played Friday night... plenty of time for Randy to fly over...
  19. That's what happened with the Denver Broncos in the NFL... they built a new stadium next door to their old one (Mile High Stadium), and sold the naming rights so it became "Invesco Field at Mile High". The fans still call it "Mile High Stadium". I think something a la the way the Rose Bowl (game) has handled naming rights might work: "$SPONSOR Villa Park".
  20. Other than the whole redscouse thing, I'd say that's proof of evolution...
  21. As I've noted on the front page, the NFL take a dim view of gambling (despite the fact that bookmakers bought the Giants and Steelers, and the descendants of said bookmakers own those franchises to this day, to say nothing of how gambling to this day provides one of the major sources of interest [and thus, indirectly, revenue] for the League). There are rules that essentially prohibit any NFL owner from being involved in the operation of a gambling enterprise. I would strongly suspect that it will require major gymnastics for AVFC (especially if it's a private entity, and Lerner definitely seems to want to take it private!) to open a casino, while Lerner is able to retain ownership of the Browns. Given that Lerner is a life-long Browns fan (and to a greater degree than it appears a certain "Life-long Villa fan" is what he claims to be...), I strongly suspect that if things developed to the point where the only way to make money at Villa is through a casino, he will sell Villa to a casino operator. I strongly doubt that such a situation will come to pass, especially within any sort of timeframe over which anybody may have reasonable expectations, but the point is that a casino is almost certainly a non-starter during the Lerner regime at Villa Park.
  22. There's definitely a strong anglophilia that persists in the US to this day, moreso if you add the more celtic affinities in, so I guess that a general "british isles-philia" fits better. Perhaps it's oedipalesque; I know that I generally give substantial extra points for any accent from the Isles (cf. Keira Knightley, Elizabeth Hurley, Rosamund Pike, etc.)...
