  1. I've tried. I've really tried. I cannot keep up with this thread. I need a recap (this is something to maybe put in the original post). Just very quick gloss-over of the key names: 1. The people who have been mentioned in speculation most. I just need names, but if you can supply their current team, great. Projected cost means little this window, apparently, so names and maybe current teams are all I need. 2. The biggest names mentioned. 3. A couple other names you guys find interesting. This is simply asking for a one-post recap of 283 pages. I'm looking for 10-20 names total and then I can take it from there. The only commentary I need is grouping the names by the categories I laid out. Don't add any names that come solely from you; that's just going to confuse me.
  2. Either Midlands team will be fine.
  3. You're telling me that of all the soccer sites in the world, there's not a single one dedicated to transfer window speculation?
  4. I need to find a website that lists off who's either eligible for transfer or likely to be transferred. That way I'll have some way of knowing which names to look at and picking out ones I like.
  5. Question. Where's a place I can find out who exactly is on the block? You know, just so these names can start meaning something to me and I don't just go "...Yay, I think?" every time I hear about a signing.
  6. There 's one question you need to ask yourself beforehand: Are you attached to 'Villa Park' in the way Red Sox fans are attached to 'Fenway Park' or Packers fans are attached to 'Lambeau Field'? If the answer is yes, stop right there. Renaming isn't worth it to you. A new name just wouldn't sound right. That said, I have no such attachment as I haven't been here long. My primary worry, besides the money, is if the name's going to sound ugly. Some companies make for more attractive stadium names than others: GOOD: Great American Ball Park (Cincinnati Reds), Miller Park (Milwaukee Brewers). OKAY: Emirates Stadium (Arsenal), Coors Field (Colorado Rockies). BAD: Tropicana Field (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), Comerica Park (Detroit Tigers). MAKE THE HURTING STOP: Qualcomm Stadium (San Diego Chargers), M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore Ravens). And take it from us Americans, who do this all the time: eventually, you WILL lapse from calling it Villa Park, and you WILL start calling it whatever it gets named. You won't be able to help it. (If the corporate name is in the front. If it's in the back, such as 'Villa Park Presented by (blank), you'll stop caring at the word 'Presented'.)
  7. You'd think, at this point, that if Ellis DIDN'T sell, there'd be a full investigation. I think that with this many bids out there, his bluff is called. Of course, he'll likely prolong it until the transfer window closes to screw the buyer (and, in his mind, heighten what he believes to be his legacy in comparison), but he'll be gone.
  8. there is a rule about him causing "frustration" to potential bidders. Big trouble if he does this. Not familiar with the rule, but I can certainly understand the concept. How's this work, exactly?
