  1. Yes for me, but only for the possibility, as others have mentioned, of seeing some of the old boys.
  2. I usually always advocate the intertoto as I reckon the chance to be in europe is worht it. This year however, I'm a bit more dubious and have voted no. Whereas before, we desperately needed europe to attract players, get money, and so it was always worth it. Now however, we all know we're headed in the right direction and MON wants a full pre-season with his player..let him have it. I'd rather wait and finish 4-7 in the league in 07/08 and qualify properly for 08/09 than do the intertoto and risk early season problems. however, Wainy mentioned a format that might mean only one game? If this is true then maybe. The big question is, would we get in even if we wanted? Wouldn't we have to finish above quite a few teams looking unlikely at the moment.
  3. I do agree, and I do certainly rate Laursen, but do we really have enough to go on. I mean, he was injured for ages, then played brilliantly for 5 or so (?) games.
  4. No need to pass the collection tin around then? I'm so pleased to finally have people with knowledge, skill, business sense, and general greatness running the show.
  5. That was a quality goal and would love to see that at the Villa. But you can't judge everything on one great goal and I'm yet to be convinced (far from it) that being great in Scotland means anything in the Premiership. Hope to be proved wrong though and Petrov is looking good.
  6. Looking over his shoulder...depends on how randy rob is i guess!!
  7. Were you happy missing half the game becasue of the trinity road pillars?? I have a feeling that if Randy was here then, he probably would have tried to incorporate the mosaic and stuff somewhere though. It isn't black and white, there are ways to move forward with respect for histroy. From what i've heard RL knows this.
  8. "What's in a name..a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"....."not if it was called a crapweasel" - Simpsons. lol. Seriously though. I voted Yes, because sentimentality can't block progress. Recognising history is important. Randy knows that and hence the talk about a proper museum, statue, star, etc. Scrap the Doug ellis stand and rename the whole stadium and get a regular source of income. I'd hope for more than $5m a year. Exactly, last year when I was booking tickets for a mate, even the woman on the phone called it the witton lane stand!
  9. I don't think it'll happen, but I wouldn't particularly mind..as long as it was something like the MBNA Villa Park rather that the MBNA Arena. I think if it did happen, Lerner seems the type to accommodate the history/fans opinion more than others so predict a compromise if anything. Plus, if it brought in loads of money, who cares. I'll still call it villa park, so will you so who cares if the Sky introducer says....."It's the title decider and the trophy is ready at the MBNA Arena to crown the champions".....If that's said in the next decade, I won't me moaning about it not being called Villa Park. On a similar but different topic..why did Man City's stadium go from the City of Manchester Stadium to Eastlands?
  10. or could someone send these results to Mr Lerner, just in case he has any more doubts.
  11. I think i prefer his bid, just because i'd like to put "RANDY" on my shirt. TBH, I think enough people have been in touch with Browns' fans to get an idea and though we don't know details, we base our belief on the way he runs them. (i.e. puts in good management and lets them get on with it.) As I've said before, regardless of billions in his pockets, a well run villa would be so much of an improvement. Just imagine....a marketing strategy!!!
  12. I think this more a case of a guy agreeing to buy a car, but doesn't mind if the current owner uses all the petrol that's already in the tank before the sale goes through. analogies aside, we agree the sentiment behind it....Wooooo Hooooo. Ding Dong the witch is dead...
  13. It's more like selling a car and the guy who's going to buy it saying, "put on some new wheels and a new stereo and I'll cover the costs when I have the log book and it's registered in my name". Hopefully.
  14. I was wondering whether he was talking about MON having money or the new owners having MONEY. Anyway, that Doug interview has finally convinced me beyond doubt that the takeover will happen (I know i've been overly sceptical!!) so down to renew on Monday (wonder if my seat's still available after the weekend rush!!). The missus is pissed off, but I'm chuffed!!!!!!
