  1. ...as Take That once said. So we have spent a fair ol' whack of money on decent players and therefore many fans are going to inevitably expect instant results, promotion and an entitlement to success. Although I would say that promotion absolutely has to be the target given what we have spent, I am not personally expecting instant results and I don't think other fans should either. We have completely overhauled the team, the management, the backroom and the boardroom and the whole dynamic of the club has changed very suddenly. All of these new players have to get to know each other, get used to each other, get used to RDM's tactics and instructions, get used to the culture of the club, get used to the city of Birmingham, get used to playing at Villa Park, etc. If any of us moved jobs or our work had a total overhaul, we would expect to have a month or so at least in order to settle, get to know the environment, get to know our colleagues and how the ethos of the office works and how to work with different people and I do think people have to realise it is the same for footballers and staff at football clubs. I'm just conscious that if we don't get a result against Nottingham Forrest at the weekend we will immediately get comments like "same old ****", "xyz was a waste of money", "**** team is still a **** team", etc. which I think is very disheartening for everyone. Let's give the New Villa a chance to gel and get behind them? We have a good squad here and a good manager but it isn't going to happen over night. It is going to take months. I honestly believe if we can have a little bit of patience and ride the waves for a bit, we will have a very solid team here that will be difficult to beat and VP can be a fortress again. It will just take time, effort, patience and unyielding support from the fans. No "RDM out" nonsense after quarter of a season or booing players for making mistakes. That'll just take us back to the poisonous atmosphere we had last season and, ultimately, back to square one. I think our attitudes and expectations have to change with the club...
  2. No one on twitter from the BCFC side seems unhappy about this. On the contrary, they're thrilled with the price. I know nothing about him so can't really comment, but the reactions don't seem good.
  3. Hmm still support the lad as he is so young and there is a good goalie in there, but I think it wouldnt hurt to get a senior keeper in or on loan. Pantillimon was floated, that'd do nicely. Gollini also needs a senior keeper to learn from.
  4. Won't miss him. Bye. Now to clear out the rest of our failed past!
  5. We seriously need to learn to kill off games. We were unlucky not to win, but I'm getting a bit worried about how frequently we are saying that...
  6. He is 21, in a new country, in a new league, he has only played 4 (?) games. He has also made some very good saves as well as his mistakes. Cut the guy some slack for now and support him. We shouldn't have even been in a position where that goal mattered. For me that is more of a concern.
  7. Before we completely destroy Gollini shall we remember he's only 21 in a new league? I'm sure he will build some confidence in time. He will need to put this behind him though...
  8. You should try it in Arabic. A throw-in near the halfway line is cause for manic celebration.
  9. Shot on target from Villa. just had another chance. Not a bad 4 minutes!!!
  10. I love Elphick. And I find it hilarious how we alway idolise our centre backs! For most clubs it's strikers. Not at the Villa! Here it's centre backs and beards.
  11. Really nervous for this. If its a Rochdale performance we will build so much confidence going forwards. If it's a Luton performance we are back to square one...
  12. Perhaps he was a bit disaffected by the attitude of the rest of the team last year. Hard to get motivated when no one around you can be arsed. I think he was as guilty as anyone in the "not trying" department last season. I'm hoping that with the added impetus he can keep up his performance against Rotherham.
  13. I really, really don't rate Okore. I wanted to - Scandinavian CB he had all the makings of a Villa hero. But he's awful.

    Joe Bennett

In the PL for us, him and Toner were together the worst players I think I have ever seen for us. He has kept his head down and not moaned so food luck to him, but he really isn't good enough.
  15. If a 3'9" footballer liker Tommy Elphick and a 78 year old footballer like Ross McCormack can still make it, I wouldn't give up just yet.
  16. Bent kept us up. If McCormack got us up I think you could say they were both worthwhile signings.
  17. I disagree. I agree with KHV. In my opinion he is one of the most overrated players to come through our ranks. You are looking at the new Agbonlahor/Delfouneso/G. Gardner
