Christ you know what I think I am actually done with this forum. It is incredibly toxic in its negativity and makes being a Villa fan less enjoyable.

That's the big problem that remains for us as a club really.
We're a better footballing team than Man. United. We showed that for about 80% of the game.
However they hung in there somehow and while likes of Diaby and Luiz were wasterfully screwing shots wide at 1-1 they produced the cross of the game and won it.
We can never shake off the feeling no matter how much we spent that we're not quite good enough to achieve things at a crucial part of the season.
It's an inferiority complex we can't quite kick the habit of. Was there in the MON seasons and looks like this season is going to turn out a replica of 08/09 which will be even more crushing.
We have hung in and scraped victories plenty of times this season.

We lost…
I am well aware. You can play well and lose.

Some perspective - we actually played well. We are mentally incapable of beating Man Utd. Play like that in our upcoming games and we remain in the running.

At least we’ve actually played some good football it has been a while

Emery shouting a Diaby to get his head up and carry on making chances. Just needs the confidence.
Wrong. He’s completely shit remember. He turned shit recently and will always be shit and we need to remind him he’s shit.

IT IS. THE SHIT REFS OMG.
Every. Single. ****. Match. Thread.
It’s bloody painful. Maybe we are just blind to this massive conspiracy against Villa and this recruitment of only Man Utd supporting refs that has amazingly never been leaked.

Playing well. Not sure we will convert it into anything though.
and if we don’t win it won’t be “refereeing corrupshun” which it seems to be every week in here.

Blaming the refs is nonsensical. However they should never have been given that corner which they scored from.
Sure but 90% of every match thread is whinging about referees

This is all Villa. Such a shame we cannot do anything in the final third

Ollie is one of the few strikers where one on one the money should always be on the keeper.
-
I don’t understand how we have fallen off so far so suddenly. It really hurts.

It was obvious after the first corner. That’s on the management team.
If only we had some sort of specialist coach for these scenarios

Should never have been a corner. Game over.

No Pau or Digne = 0 points.
Not aimed at you but whilst we are taking about scapegoats it’s funny how we can all accept Digne was vital to us storming up the league and before that he was hugely “responsible” for our failings as he was one of “Gerrard’s lot”.
It’s incredible that O’Leary could be criticised for calling our fans fickle.

I’m not sure I can face watching this…trying to decide what’ll hurt less if it’s bad news, check at 90 mins and see we threw away a three nil lead or watch that happen? Or watch the 6 minute VAR review on 90 mins to confirm an incorrect pen that Fernandes will bury, or just see we lost 1-0?

My (and the wife’s) parents getting on a bit is the absolute only reason I am raising my son in this country.
Likewise. The SECOND we no longer have extended family here, I’m leaving and never ever coming back.

Completely on team HKP90. Brexiteers all shat in our collective bed. Now they are suffering. And as pointed out, not one of them is willing to admit they **** us all with their blinded racism and xenophobia.
No sympathy here either. **** em.

pretty much sums up the whole debate. Seems the solution for a lot of our fans is to just keep things as they are and the atmosphere will suddenly improve. Might have been easier to build an atmosphere in the days when most fans were local hard working people who could let their hair down, enjoy a day out with their mates and have a drink or two. These days you’re not going to get a family of four, some random tourists and a coy tech guy on a six figure salary giving it the big’un unprompted. Our approach has to adapt. Or just do nothing and remain a library.
FWIW I don’t think our atmosphere is any worse than any of the other teams of our stature. They all suck. It’s a symptom of the glorious “modern game”.

In that cameo he seemed to be half a yard off the pace of the game. He doesn’t move the ball on at the pace Man City want to.

Emery is a victim of his own success with some fans, we’ve improved so well and so quickly that all the talk of being in a title race has left people feeling like it’s a failure if we don’t finish top four. I’ll be more than happy even if we finish sixth this season, it’s incremental progression over last season and European football again.
We were never going to win every game and the difference between starting well and finishing not so well versus starting poorly and finishing strongly, leads to a huge difference in reaction despite the end result being the same.
It’s going to be a fight to the end and Emery has earned our trust to get us there. His 2ppg includes our rough patches, so let’s hope our returning players help us refind our form.
So true. If he hadn’t got us to where we are now and somehow getting Europe against all odds last season, we’d have been thrilled to be mid table.

We're gonna do that and lose the best manager in 50 years. Depressingly inevitable.
Edit: I meant continuous and exponential, I realise that linear and exponential are mutually exclusive, maths nerds. Not enough coffee yet.
Yup. And if that happens, that’s the point when I fully give up on Villa.
