  1. Who on Earth decided it was a good to have (the overrated) Adam Hollioake on the pitch; his live interviews were cringe-worthy; another player picked for England by the Cockney press ! Thought Chopra's captaincy was excellent again; just disappointed in Rickie Clarke - who I thought had, an otherwise, good season. Tempted to think that Horton made a mistake by putting Flintoff in too far down the order - damn glad he did though. Did they show Kabir Ali having pitch-side treatment against Hants on TV ? We thought then than he wouldn't play in the final. Now for the London Cup (or whatever it's called) but I guess without Bell and/or Woakes.
  2. I don't think this applies(d) to drums. Cymbals possibly - and definitely racing bikes (OT)
  3. Although it is easy to be wise after the event, I did think we were perhaps 15/20 runs short - on that wicket but, as said above, we are through. I think they said Woakes was being 'rested' but anyone know why Boyd Rankin didn't play ?
  4. Jim Troughton to retire - according to Evening Mail. Damn shame IMO but has suffered with injury for some time. Seem to remember him having a great knock with Ian Bell (B & H Final ?) some years ago when they were both young. Perhaps Paul C can correct or confirm. Fortunately , we seem to have a great replacement in Varun Chopra. Also , glad to see Laurie Evans has signed a contract extension. Glad I don't have to choose the team for Saturday !!
  5. Stefan Moore scored against Hednesford last night; now plays for Leamington it seems.
  6. re. Mr Mooney's post ; I guess that in time of war, particularly if mortally wounded, one might gain succour from the words of a well-meaning clergyman.
  7. Yep - got wife's and self's tickets on line (thanks Mick). Now - is there any chance (Sir) Ian Bell will b available for this match ? If you watched the Essex match, what did you make of the ball-tampering business? Very little comment when the ball was changed (and Atherton wasn't even playing )
  8. No I'd never heard it either. However, I have heard, "you've got more edges than a cracked piss-pot" applied to myself when batting !
  9. Not bad at all, more than we anticipated - but I am useless at judging numbers. Easy victory in the end even though I thought we might have been 20 runs short. Warks seem to be playing really well at the moment - T20 could be interesting but tough. In other news - wife wants to go to Ashes next year but you have to lay out a lot of cash - before the end of August - to get tickets at Members prices; and renew for next year !!
  10. Excellent display by Warks tonight. Jeetan Patel was excellent and Chopra is becoming an excellent captain (IMO). Pity Trott got injured and I wonder where Barker is ? This new young spinner looks a great prospect; bowls it quite quickly off just a couple of paces.
  11. I wouldn't be too sure about the cycling !
  12. Will try another browser - at the moment only use IE. I am not sure which update could have caused the problem; please be aware my computer skills are very limited so I think the only way would be to perform ' System Restore' for about 6 months ago ! Although it is a nuisance I will probably just live with it - but thanks for your help.
  13. Windows 7 and IE 11. Is that enough info ? Yes I have tried clearing cookies and cache - that is why I find it so odd.
  14. Yes - I had tried this but to no avail. It seemed to happen after a Windows Update but I can't be certain. Guess I will just live with it. Cheers
  15. Apologies if this is inappropriate but I can't quote from other people's posts. I used to be able to do this but now can't do it - possibly due to Divine Intervention !! Any advice please ?
  16. Paul C - what has happened to Wright then ?
  17. What on earth is going on up there ! Barker 6 for 46 and has whipped out 2 more with Durham following-on. Barker for England ???? A win would give Warks a really good chance in the County Championship I reckon. No Tour today so following this keenly.
  18. ^^ Yes that would be a pity but didn't the same thing happen with Dominic Ostler and he ended up staying ? re. Captains of England always being a batsman - Wasn't Bob Willis captain for a while ?
  19. Agreed with above. Perhaps England should look for a "captain" as opposed to a good player and then make him captain; an example might be Rob Key of Kent who I reckon is a good captain and incidentally a good batsman ! You are lucky to get both - however, Shane Warne was a good example of both in recent times. Gower was a great batsman but poor captain, likewise Botham. Mike Brearley was a great captain but (personally) I didn't rate him as an opener much. But back to more important cricket matters: great win for Warks; just thought Chris Wright was a bit short and gave away a few. There wasn't a spinner on show in the Test today as good as either Patel or Ajmal from last night - did wonder about Ajmal's fielding though, thought Worcs were trying to hide him a bit. A bit of a long shot for Warks to progress though isn't it ?
  20. If I were you Mr Chap ^^^^^ I would save my money and not risk it on the vagaries of bike racing. Put it on a cert - like who will be relegated next year
  21. Ah ! Yep that would be the Offer and Acceptance - I think ! One of the essential elements for a binding contract.
  22. Without exactly being an expert on Contract Law, I would have thought that this involved an "Invitation to treat" and, therefore, in Contract Law a refusal to supply would be quite legitimate. ( Fisher v Bell) - from memory.
  23. Yoko Ono - a lot of people thought this lady was a rather peculiar, talentless individual. This clip has probably removed all doubt.
  24. ^^^^^ Spot-on post ! Many may not remember his dad either - a great player for England as well as Worcs. Damien was in his mid-50's - far too young. RIP
  25. Yes Raver - you are right re. Ted Heath's drummer - not Alan Ganley. We were support to some of the big bands when we had a residency in North Staffs so I watched 'em at close quarters - well the drummer anyway. Examples included:- Ray Mcvay, Sid Lawrence, Bob Miller and The Millermen and even Joe Loss. They were all brilliant and their drummers drove like mad - made me ashamed. An anecdote was that we had to join the Musicians Union as they were all paid-up members - this was the 70's and early 80's though. Wonder if this standard of musicianship still exists today.
