  1. Anybody watching browns on hard knocks? Good insight into the attitude and personalities of the team. Not convinced by hue jackson tho...at all!
  2. Yep thought he did well. Thought that was a good stop for their 2nd goal...it was a fierce shot from pretty close in. Johnstone was also written off early days on here so hopefully the early criticism of nyland bodes well.
  3. I often wonder why chiropractic treatment gets looked upon as some sort of witchcraft by many? In my experience it has been incredibly benificial and saved me having to take a lot of time off work.
  4. I don't know what it is with them, it's like they self harm. Whatever we do good they have to try and better, and generally fail miserably, bar a few seasons in a hundred years...but also whatever we do bad they try and do worse it seems, and generally succeed. Just in the recent past, under rowett they were top 6, we were a weak, relegated side struggling to turn things around. How can they mess this up I thought?....well they would have to sack rowett and get some big name, inexperienced idiot in...and hey presto!! Throughout this summer our financial crisis has been a constant source of absolute pleasure for them over on SHA Forum...everyday a new thread on our demise brought howls of delight. I actually got more information and insight in to the mess we were in from the noses than I did from villatalk. They were praying for us to go into administration/liquidation or whatever. I must admit they called dr tony out a long time before we did. All this excitement however, has made them take their eye off the ball as regard their own financial situation. If they end up relegated and in administration at the end of this season it would not suprise me in the slightest. Then the 'woe is me, why us, why can't we get a break, villa are the spawniest team ever, I hate them with all of my being' narrative will be rolled out once again. Like I said, I just don't know what it is with them ??
  5. Ha ha not like it was yesterday then!! Has a villa player scored 4 in a game since?
  6. Going a bit off topic here but whenever anyone mentions super simon stainrod I get a flashback to the moment I looked on teletext for the score on his debut v exeter(?).....Exeter 0-4 Villa (stainrod 4). I can see it in my mind like it was yesterday....strange! Did we win the return 8-0 for an aggregate of 12-0? Oh and yeah, mcginn looks ace ?
  7. Limited he maybe but he's the best manager we've had for years. Bruce or henry?...shouldn't even need answering
  8. Right decision at this moment in time. Too close to the start of a new season to change, and with new owners finding their feet bruce is a safe pair of hands. Not everyones favourite decision but the best one under the circumstances.
  9. I don't think we will have any choice regarding selling grealish etc. I also think the new owners have got a free hit here. Whilst the shambles of mr xia is still fresh in the minds of all fans, I think the large majority would absolutely see the reasoning behind flogging grealish etc.
  10. Yes I think you are spot on. FFP, as I see it, is solely club turnover versus player expenditure, so suddenly having a pot of cash does not change a thing in this regard. No transfers can be funded by new owners, unless we willingly take the hit next year, so players will still have to be sold. We just don't need that money to stay afloat anymore, it's just a question of covering that 40million transfer black hole. So I fully expect grealish, chester, kodjia, and whoever else can command a decent fee, to be sold. I'm just relieved that this is as bad as it might get, if xia would have held on for grim death and continued his financial gymnastics we could have been at risk of doing a leeds/pompey
  11. Sorry this made me laugh.... 2 letters and you had to go back and edit?! ?
  12. I think this is about it to be honest. I was reading the recon website a couple of weeks back and it was a lot of glossy pages and an incredible amount of words that, in my simplistic view, amounted to very little. I did a very small amount of digging and the only company I could find directly linked to recon was the cabling company of the same name...and again, this looked like a smallish company that was struggling.
  13. 'When he bought the club from Randy Lerner last summer' is the give away
  14. Why not jim?....have you got something you want to share with the group? ?
  15. Which they never bought in the end...is that correct?
  16. From my very limited research of Mr Xia's companies it looks like he doesn't have much substance behind all of his claims of wealth. That recon website looks like a promotional tool to appease anyone trying to delve into his business dealings. Nice shiny website, pictures him at villa park etc but if you read about the other companies he is supposed to be involved with, it all looks wafer thin....a lot of words to say not a lot about anything. I googled the recon company stock exchange number....that brings up a much smaller company call recon cabling, not recon holdings. Now what scares me is that I've done that on my phone on my lunch break, and to me it looks dodgy as hell already. What do the EFL check on when doing due dilligence etc?
  17. Nothing will ever be good enough...surely you know that? ?
  18. I don't really get what is so great about this show. I'm not a fan at all but I'll respect the people's decision and refrain from stooping so low as to question anyone's mental health who voted for it. That would be an extreme reaction, and only get extreme responses in return thus creating a merry-go-round of insults and abuse whilst any sensible discussion as to the reasons why people think that the show is funny, will never be had. ?
  19. That has got to be one of the most stupid comments I've ever read on vt. How exactly have you come to that conclusion?
  20. All a manager needs to know is whether the club can afford to buy a player. Tony would have told him how much there was to spend so he spent it. Was bruce expected to say....hang on tone, where you getting the money from? If all this blows up and we're down to the bare bones next season then bruce is exactly the right man to get a tune out of it all. I would argue he would have got us to the same place this season on less than half the money spent.
  21. Yep what goes around comes around...just got to take it on the chin. To be fair, a lot of them on sha forum have had Tony's number for a while. Many similarities with the carson situation.
  22. But this is what the majority of posts on villatalk have, and always will be, based on...wild speculation, and people quoting it as though it's gospel. And you're right...it's not great
  23. This is what I think. Very little has ever been known about xia or recon, and he got away with this with a lot of fans because he wasnt randy lerner. The 'anything but randy lerner' mindset gave him a very long honeymoon period.
  24. Oh yes....my one and only experience of tear gas was in a shopping mall in france when I was about 11. From this day forth I shall never return ?
  25. What are these mysterious experiences people are having in France?!!
