I'm aware of the story, and yes all 3 are to blame but it highlights that Fergie didn't put United above all else, he put himself above all else

I'm not complaining. The Glaziers have done wonders for Man Utd.  😅

Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.

If he loved the club so much why did he take his bosses to court over a racehorse..

Fergy and Mrs John Magnier were very good friends at the time along with their co-ownership of the racehorse Rock of Gibraltor.

Fergy was manager of Man Utd. Mrs John Magnier was a shareholder along with JP McManus at Man Utd.

After their relationship broke down over apparent ownership of the racehorse, after it retired, relationships became strained. Fergy thought he was entitled to 50% of all future stud fees that Rock of Gibraltor generated and that's where the fall out came when it transpired he wasn't. He began court proceedings.

No one forced MJM or JPM to sell their shares in Man Utd, it was their choice. Glaziers just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Fergy could have left Man Utd and they may have both remained shareholders, but greed and misunderstanding played a dominant role in the saga. It doesn't just fall on the shoulders of Fergy - all 3 are to blame.

As the saying goes: 'There are no friends in business'.

Grealish is a boyhood player with significant connection to the club. The 3 players mentioned yesterday are this guy, Frimpong, and Williams. Why would we pay over odds on all these players buying after big contract extension? Are we a charity?

Sorry, but this is all jibberish nonsense.

Maybe we should send Torres and Diaby back and ask for a refund since you hate the thought of us spending big?

Big clubs buy big name players - with that come big fee's.

Their new owners are worth nine billion, or so I've read, they're going to invest hundreds of millions not just in the club but the whole region and become a beacon of light for the City, Cook says he wants them to be Birmingham's best known brand if they're not already, he also says the City needs them more than the club needs the City, in the long-term they're going to be building a new stadium to help with revenue, it's strongly rumoured that they want the 'wheels site', they will be investing money this summer as the current three year FFP cycle ends, so they will have more scope to spend, they've also got some big earners coming to the end of their contracts Gardner and Hogan amonst them, which will also help, they want to have the best academy in the region, and get the women's team back to being one of the best in the country, and so on.

We had similar posts to this when we were linked with Pau Torres - "Why do we need him when we have Mings and Konsa" - Turned out Emery knows what he wants and players he can trust.

Yep. If you want to be a big team and challenging for numerous trophies then you need a big squad.

As we witnessed, Mings, Ramsey & Buendia... followed by Moreno were all sidelined for a lengthy period of time.

The squad we have has done wonderful so far in where we're at in both the league and UECL, but we won't be able to keep this up all season, burnout will soon catch up once we enter into the FA Cup too.

As for Baena, he would fit perfectly on that left side of the attack. Adding more numbers in January is needed and this lad certainly fits into how we play under the Emery way.

Another player that signed +5 year contract in 2023. Makes perfect sense. We are such shrewd operators that we wait for players to sign long term contracts

Didn't the same thing happen with Grealish before leaving for City?

Could just be Villarreal's way ensuring they get a decent fee for him.  🤔

I'm not sure if Follyfoot is aiming his comments about sensitive men at me, but that kind of thing is so wide of the mark if so

Without speaking for @Follyfoot I think his statement was more about ladies and when the decorators arrive and how they can be.

Our whole lives were over here (and we came over together), but we were also planning on leaving together this January and changing careers. After she disappeared, I quit work because I started a course. But then the course wasn't right and I left (good decision)—things have definitely felt a bit limbo-y. The pillars of relationship, job, and city all fell apart in an instant. This has taken some getting my head around. I have interviews for three different jobs ongoing, some in Spain, some in the UK which is positive in its own way.

Stating the obvious here, but it's now time to look after number one.

It's a proper kick in the stones but time is a healer.

He's not going to say he's unhappy though is he? I genuinely believe he is happy and loves the club, and at the moment couldn't be tempted because of how it's going. Let's hope we can continue on this trajectory.

    Not many do nowadays.

But yes. He seems happy, settled here and practically first on the team sheet. There wouldn't be any need to rock the boat or force a move.

  9. Would like to see him get on in the 2nd half on Thursday to try and build his confidence up (as long as the result is taken care of by then).

It's good man management by Unai to take him out the spotlight while he tries to discover his form.

Shouldn't need to go full strength to get a point, need to be smart here. Moreno and JJ haven't played much, they should start and go with Duran up top, Diaby hasn't played loads, zaniolo, donk was good when he came on...

We shouldn't need to but I would like us to in order to get the job done.

Get the result sealed in the first half and sub off to keep the legs fresh, bringing on the names you mention.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember any journalist outright claiming that there was no release clause in Jack's new contract. From googling around that time period, Sky did state that there was a "bigger buy-out clause" (with the old one being £60m) in their coverage of his new deal.

I'd also be surprised given the transfer sagas surrounding Luiz, but Collomosse has repeated his line of there being no release clause a few times.

Hasn't Luiz also stated he is very happy at Villa and does not want to leave anyway.

I'm sure I read somewhere that we have put a big price tag against him to ward off "interest".

I've not seen that much of him but he doesn't seem to be that amazing. I imagine he'd play a fairly similar role to what Tielemans has done recently.

Me neither. I think having squad depth will be key (whoever we sign come January) as we now start to move into the business end of the season.

I think the last one you could even make a small argument for is SGT leaving for the England national team, which obviously turned out to be a disaster, but since then, nobody has come even close.

I'd love to see a comparison to other PL clubs because it seems like we kill off more managerial careers than I'd expect, but I have no data to back that up

Maybe he doesn't care about challenging himself in England anymore and wants to spend more time with his son in the US. Wouldn't blame him, it'll be hard to achieve what he has with us elsewhere.

Has any previous manager/head coach of Villa gone onto anything better after leaving us?
