  1. My first game at VP in nearly three years - decided on a whim yesterday given the missus and lad are with the grandparents. Looking forward to it, although the genuine expectation for the win is always a worry!

  2. Had some pretty bad sleep deprivation over the past two weeks since my little one was born and incidentally some of the most intense dreams (nightmares) I've ever had when I have actually managed to drop off for a couple of hours.

Reached a peak this week when during a 3am nap I suddenly felt paralysed but aware someone was in the room with me, at first logically thought it was the Mrs but then quickly realised it wasn't. Ended with an incredibly realistic sensation of said someone coming closer and stroking my face - the Mrs later said the noises coming from the room I was in woke both her and the baby.

Of course, it was all a dream and not a masked intruder with a penchant for stroking faces but scary as hell all the same - never experienced anything like it.

Congratulations mate! Our little girl arrived at 11.27 wednesday morning, so I was pretty close with my post above!! :)

My mrs has 2 lads who live with us but this is my first. Feeling a bit awkward at the mo but, as others have said, hopefully should be in the swing of it pretty soon!

She slept all day yesterday and pretty much all night last night, bar a couple of feeds...got away light me thinks :)

Can't stop staring at her and like you said, it was the greatest feeling in the world seeing her arrive. I was totally overwhelmed, and so so proud.

Great news mate! Can't believe a week has passed already. Enjoying every moment. Hoping the weather will be nice enough for a walk along the river today and perhaps a small beer for Dad!

  4. Thanks for the advice guys. Will definitely take heed of this, will be all the more important once I'm back in work and routine is priority.

Have also really enjoyed reading the parenting book by the ex-commando chap "Commando Dad" - will be thumbing through that again in the months to come I think!

Don't worry that gets better. Have you got one of those next to me cribs? One of our best buys, didn't settle well in a Moses basket and didn't want to risk co-sleeping. They're not cheap but have a decent resale value.

If you're like me everything is new and a bit scary at this stage but give it a few weeks and it all fits into place. They are not as brittle and vulnerable as you think and they calm down (a bit) once they are used to the outside world.

Enjoy it while you can, they get big quick!

Thanks mate. Yeah just spending all day watching or with him on my chest so I can monitor. We have the standard crib (next to the bed), a baby nest and cacoonababy. He's done ok with the baby nest the past 24 hrs in the bed with his mum but won't settle for long before the next feed. I'm happy on the sofa provided we can get him to sleep independently for a little bit. As you say, 5 days in and hopefully will start to adjust soon, seeing improvements bit by bit each day.

  6. Walked across that side of the bridge just yesterday at a similar time, minutes after visiting St. Thomas' for our 12 week scan. Really is quite sobering as to how life can change in an instant. Heart goes out to the victims.

We've just sold our house on the IOM.  Exchanged contracts last week, complete next.  Estate agent is a bit of a friend of ours, and sold it so quickly it didn't even appear on the website.  Called him out one week, buyer was there with full asking price offer the next.  Lovely.

Good luck with the move, mate!

  8. Props to Bruce - we look like a solid outfit now. There's so much talent in the final third if we could just get them to click on a more regular basis it could really be an enjoyable remainder of the season. Such a shame we didn't have him for the first 10 games as the quality in the squad was always there.

  9. Anticipating an awkward relationship pep talk with one of my best mates in the near future.

He moved to Manchester with his fiance last year and just didn't enjoy it there (who can blame him ) - they moved primarily because it was better for her career and its where she went to Uni.

He's now moved back home for work and she's still there.

Really not sure how the conversation can avoid the inevitability of where their relationship seems to be heading. Imagine if she moved back to save their relationship for the sake of her career there would always be an unhealthy resentment there. Not good.

I fail to see how him being remembered is relevant, I thought he was a tube.

He was definitely one of the more memorable characters throughout the years and precisely for the reason you state it was good entertainment value. Sugar obviously saw something in him when he binned off the attractive girl who hadn't really put a foot wrong the whole way through (Liz I think? Was engaged to the ex-Villa goalie).

I didn't know him very well personally but had friends who did, and had various interactions with him in the gym and the somewhat limited social scene the IOM has to offer. His personality on the show was definitely a notched-up version of the real guy but some of the things I've seen/heard led me to the conclusion his TV 'character' was never too far under the surface.

Still, a horrible way to go and I think he had a lot more to give.

This season is the first I've watched in a while, the 'Big K' is the main reason I keep on watching. Definitely reminds me of a few people I know at work!

  11. The fact he can't nail down a starting spot in a Championship side sums it up for me; but booing any player in our own team coming on as a sub, even more so in the position we were in, is a disgrace.

I've pretty much had a similar revelation myself. Sold it yesterday and then spoiled the galaxy centre and atlas path for myself on YouTube.

Massive Ending Spoilers on Atlas and Galaxy centre ahead. Do Not Read!!!!!!

or IMO do read, take some time to take it in and then trade it in and get some money back.

Seriously, Dont read unless you want the game completely spoiled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Reveal hidden contents

Glad I didn't bother now. Sean Murray should be ashamed of how he portrayed this game.

The Atlas path does nothing. At all. No tangible reward at all. Just that if you hand over the 10 stones you can birth a new star which you don't get to see, go to or hear anything about ever. You hand the stones over then go on your merry way as you were before. No revelation, no real reward. You do get to see where black holes are on the map though but that's it. Pointless, even the bit of text that pops up on handing over the 10 atlas stones is an ironic comment on it all. 'I feel unchanged', yep. I'd rather have had the 900,000 credits the stones were worth. Complete waste of time.

The less said about the "centre" of the Galaxy(ies) the better. I almost got angry when I watched it. You don't get to see anything! You don't even set foot on anything. You engage the hyperdrive to go to the highlighted centre on the galactic map like any other sector and then the camera just zooms out for 2 minutes all the way back to the outer edge again, like the opposite of the loading screen, spins round, finds a new Galaxy and then the game starts all over again in this new (same looking) Galaxy. Same broken ship, same start cutscene. Couldn't believe it at all. There's a guy who is up to 20 galaxies or more so far with no change so I'm guessing its just an infinite loop? Is the social comment from Hello Games to enjoy the journey rather than the destination? Utter utter cop out if so.

Worse than Peter Molyneux and the Curiosity thing in my eyes. The 'ending' and the bait and switch aspect of it all have really pissed me off.

Like I said though, I feel like it's my good deed for the day to advise you to read it just to save you time/money. I'm so annoyed by it.

Would like to add a massive thanks for this.

I bought the game a month ago and pretty much echo the same feelings of repetition as described in these last few pages after about a week of playtime. The sad thing is I spent £34 pre-owned and didn't do my research to the extent I should have.

I spent 10 minutes this morning pondering whether to open that hidden comment as I had every intention of picking the game up again at some point, but am now very happy I did read it. Genuinely think, as an avid gamer, if I had put over 100 hours into this to witness the finale it could have really made me question my love of gaming. Also feel slightly betrayed for the time I did put into it.

Now watching some RDR compilations on YouTube to restore the faith.

Anything less than promotion will be a huge failure IMO, noting the money spent

Agreed. I don't expect miracles but I would hope to be hitting full steam come November and pushing the top 4 coming up to Xmas. I would start to have my doubts if he doesn't have us up and running by then.

They're not "excuses". It's an attempt to explain why we're still seeing many of the same things despite a new owner, manager and players.

I suggest you look up the definition of an excuse.

  15. Think he has potential but it's the one transfer I felt with we might regret - didn't need a fancy keeper this season, just a solid one with a bit of experience. Gollini might develop to the extent he is an international regular but the points we've dropped already might prove crucial come the end of the season.

  16. Stayed away since Saturday but inevitably suckered back in. It's a long season ahead and a team in transition.

What I will say though, is that the excuses of a losing mentality and sudden collapses after conceding a goal will not wash for much longer. Xia has provided RDM with an almost entirely new team whilst keeping what most of us saw as the players worth keeping. We have three leaders in there now with McCormack, Jedinak and Elphick.

Personally, I will give the team a reasonable amount of time to gel but we (and RDM) can't use the same old excuses (unless this club really is cursed!)
