  1. Sir Thank you so much for your straight talking - it is refreshing in a world that is increasingly dominated by PR, spin, focus groups, pc, saying what we want to hear etc. Under the stewardship of Randy Lerner - and with the support of his Directors and advisors - Aston Villa continues to show what a great club it is. We will be judged by the way we handle the current 'blip' (crisis is such an overused word) and I have no doubt that the reputation of the club will be enhanced. Please pass on my thanks to all concerned UTV
  2. General, I did not think that we would get relegated after the Wigan game and I do not think that we will win the league after the Liverpool game. Likewise I do not think that every decision the Management Team at AVFC makes is 100% perfect nor do I believe that there is no plan or direction at the club. What I do believe is that we are fans of one of the most honourable, best led clubs in the country and that we have both commercial leaders and football leaders of whom we should be proud. Please let all at the club know that as least one of us (me) trusts, believes and is thankful for what we have and where we are heading. Keep it up
  3. I echo all of that above. My daughter is 2 years old and I am very excited about her learning that Daddy supports a club that is honourable and shares the same kind of values that I hold dear. Up The Villa
  4. General, I was wondering if you could offer some advice about ticketing policy and how I can 'legally' bring an Away Fan to a game. My father in law is a Hull man though and through and I would love to bring him to see Villa v Hull. The switch in the game date last season saved me the trouble of worrying about where we could sit (I work Bank Hols so there was no chance of getting to the game) I really do want to try and get him to the game the season (probably last chance - can't believe they'll escape relegation again). Is there anywhere in the ground where I can sit with him without a) lying to the ticket people about both tickets being for home fans risking getting chucked out. He is, of course, completely incapable of hiding his emotions and, therefore, I could do with being in an appropriate area of the ground. Up the Villa - and I hope your recovery continues apace.

    Thanks

Well said - I'm another who totally agrees. Today my wife listens when I'm talking about stuff happening at the club - she's not a football fan but she is now understanding why AVFC matters to me. Today all my friends who support other teams are saying, 'wow - Villa are now my 'second' team' Today there's a word that sums it all up: PRIDE Thanks
  6. Hopefully we can get an Away Win in your absence - the players might be quaking in their boots at the thought of your return otherwise.
  7. I'm another late comer to this thread, but I want to add not only Hi, Thanks and WOW but also to point out that you are, Sir, one of the few Americans who seems to have a wonderfully ironic sense of humour - no wonder you're fitting in so well round here. Prepared and Always Faithful, Mark E
  8. Both those goals are worh watching again...and again...and again
  9. Don't think about it too much Hev - you're just torturing yourself
  10. I voted far Daz Vaz - but I am biased
  11. Oh yes - I've just kind of thought that Juan is probably the first stiker who has been my favourite player since Andy Gray Mk1 back in the late 70's. (Sid, Spink, McGrath, Southgate (a long time ago in a galaxy far far away), Bozzie, Merse - there may be gaps coz I've not checked stats).
  12. Has to be Juan The Man for me - skill in bucket loads, scores goals, works very hard and has proved that he is very comitted to the club. Who could ask for anything more?
  13. Voted 'no' - but wasn't sure which question I was voting on...
  14. I remember when the Polo Vending Machine outside our local newsagent went up from 2p to 4p in one fell swoop - outrageous inflation!

    Where were you?

    "Get your prayer mats out...."
  16. Angel v Chelsea becuase it reminded everyone (especially the players) that we're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen (or, at least, that we can go toe to toe against any team in England with a realistic chance ['cept maybe the Arse!])

    Where were you?

I was 13 and was watching it home...my folks were out at some friends house and I think my bro was out as well. I was nursing a slowly recovering broken arm - which I nearly damaged again leaping around like a muppet when we won. I was desperate to talk about the whole thing and couldn't wait to get to school the next day. I was convinced we would dominate the 80's in the way Liverpool had dominated the 70's.....
  18. It has to be Top 4 - that is the next step up from Top 6. But, of course, knowing us we could easily be fighting relegation again...........
  19. A treble but not the treble - do you think Doulally is unrealistic or something...
  20. Smellpiss will claim "we don't want to overstretch" and give DOL £4m and then start talking about 'realisitic goal for next season is to do the Double and win the UEFA"
  21. Did you know Yorkies are so named because they were invented in York....good job the factory wasn't in Goole. (I've got me coat....)
  22. Those chocolate eclairs were lethal to teeth - espcially in winter. They make Space Dust look like candy (what?!!!?)
