  1. Bloody hell. It's nothing short of a bloody miracle that we got through that (a miracle by the name of Emi **** Martinez).

What a weird, weird game. We were without a doubt second best in pretty much all departments. It's not entirely unexpected, since Lille were well rested and we were likely still knackered from the Arse game on Sunday. Very frustrating game to watch. It was baffling how many times we had a good clean break with green grass in front of us and we decided to stop and go backwards. On too many occasions we went for the Hollywood ball rather than the much easier pass to guys in space.

All that said, as the saying goes - good teams find a way through even when not at their best. We found a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, and I think we'll be better for it having gone through a game like this. It's shown the level that we need to be at. We knocked out possibly the 2nd best team in the competition, but we absolutely need to make sure we don't show any complacency by thinking that the cup is won just because we got through possibly the hardest tie. Every team in the competition at this stage will be tough.

    Let's keep it going. UTV!

  2. What a **** great event that was. My personal highlights:

    Green v Miller - brutal

Prochazka v Rakic - buzzing for Jiri, hopefully he'll get another go at Pereira

Gaethje v Holloway - holy shit. Unbelievable performance from Max. What an absolute beast.

Pereira v Hill - Alex waving away Herb Dean after the possible nut shot, and then knocking Hill out a couple of seconds after was hilarious.

  3. The whole thing around the new stadium complex absolutely stinks to me. A big chunk of the £2-3 billion will be loans. In terms of events, there's no way that the NFL are going to move games to Birmingham. It's hard enough to get teams to forfeit a home game to play in London in a league that only plays 17 regular season games - so I highly doubt that they're going to convince more teams to do it. The money is there to be made in London. I'm a Brummie and I'll always be proud of that, but unfortunately, Birmingham just isn't going to be an attractive destination for these sort of events. They'll probably have a few gigs there but nothing on the scale that they think.

Their owners aren't going to make any significant money from Blues either. They just don't have the fanbase or the appeal. The club won't own the stadium, and if the owners get fed up and cut their ties after a few more seasons in the doldrums, whoever else comes in will likely have to pay an absolute whopper in terms of rent and likely be forced out. These plans aren't for the benefit of the club. The owners just want to make a quick buck (hence Wagner is so keen to have it all wrapped up in 5 years).

It's all very well showing some pretty PowerPoint slides with some shiny stadium mockups, but it all seems like slightly outlandish plans with little to no substance. Like others have said, the idea nowadays is to stop other clubs suddenly turning into Man City, so their dreams of becoming a footballing superpower are purely to take their minds off the very real possibility that they'll be playing Shrewsbury next season.

  4. I'm sure they'll shithouse a point against a team they have no business getting anything against (from a ludicrous own goal or something similar to that Hibs free kick....) which will keep them up. They fact that they're as bad as they are and have only just dropped into the bottom 3 shows just how outrageously shit you have to be to go down in that division. Here's hoping....

  5. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we avoided the loss in the end, but that is a very poor result, especially from 2-0 up.

One of our players admitted that we tend to relax too much when we're 2 up and it's something we need to work on (I think it was Ollie post-Forest, I might be wrong). It seems that nothing has changed. Completely switched off for their first goal and then we lost all control and our heads totally dropped. It's so bloody infuriating as we had a great chance to solidify our position. We absolutely need to be beating teams like this at home when we have a healthy lead.
