  1. After the past few weeks it is now essential that we have a quick decision with a manager in place to start working on recruiting and retaining players. The amount of over-reaction to the possible appointment of a football manager is ridiculous. He would not be my choice but is unlikely to be a disappointment, may even surprise some fans. He certainly must have some courage to be willing to take on this job with all the flak that is flying around.
  2. Heskey MOTM for his winning goal. Cuellar excellent, Warnock was a liability, not subbing him was very risky albeit he did provide the cross for Heskey.
  3. Resting four players after only one competitive match and with so many players out injured or suspended?? This suggests that we are once again not taking this competition seriously.
  4. Impressed with Beye, solid at RB then did a reasonable job in the centre. Albrighton deserves his chance in the PL, Young did not do enough, nor Downing. Well done NRC. Valencia took it easy with another game today yet still we could not score.
  5. The result is likely to depend on the Man Utd team sheet. If they play their strongest side they will probably win, if, because of their European matches, they include a few other squad players, then I think we will have a fair chance of winning.
  6. I have been told that Brighton have sold out their ticket allocation of 6,500.
  7. Not according to page 22 of the Offer Document!
  8. Just so that everyone is clear, the Offer is subject to Lerner obtaining acceptances for at least 90% of the shares, or such lower figure as he may decide. Otherwise he is not obliged to acquire from Ellis & Gang. However, in my view, unless a much stronger offer comes along, this is a done deal.
  9. All this talk about missing shares seems to be wide of the mark. According to the Offer Document in front of me: "The records of Aston Villa's Registrars show that the aggregate...of the shares held by Shareholders are 9,375 shares less than are required to reach the issued share capital of 11,449,245. This shortfall ...has been in existence for many years...". This shortfall is only 0.08% of all shares, so is hardly worth worrying about. Another urban myth??
  10. Can someone point me to where there is a reference to a 10 day period in the Offer Documents?. I can only see reference to 21 days.
  11. Any bid from the AV06 consortium is bound to be subject to all sorts of conditions, as they have not done due diligence, having been unprepared to sign a confidentiality agreement. I rather doubt that Rothschilds would regard it as a credible bid.
  12. Simon wrote: £lie$ and Petchey have agreed to hand over their shares to Lerner. Basically, Lerner now has 56% of the shares. There's virtually NO chance Neville, Padfield or Still will be able to do anything now. Not correct, as shown below: "All of these undertakings will cease to be binding if a competing offer is announced for Aston Villa which exceeds the value of the Offer by more than 5 per cent. and which is recommended for acceptance by the Aston Villa Board". What are the chances of a rival bid? Is this likely to restrict Lerner's activity in the meantime?
  13. If you read the small print, the unconditional agreements to accept the offer by members of the Ellis family + Trefick would lapse if there is another bid more than 5% higher and recommended by the Villa board. What do you reckon are the chances of that happening, fortereliable?
