  1. Thing is, we're doing OK - nothing more - There's plenty of us thought going back up this year was a near impossible ask given the manner of our relegation long before Xia arrived on the scene. If there's a few more optimists seeing their hopes of automatic promotion disappear then I can't see that being a bad thing. There were also more than a few looking forward to League 1 next year too i seem to remember. Nothing is off the table at this point obviously but I'm actually quite pleased overall that we are in touching distance of the play-offs. We're unbeaten at home (Seriously did ANYONE expect that to be true at Xmas?). We must have all said to someone at some point "I just want to see us win a game of football!!" over the last few years. I still think if we can manage to lose under 10 games all season we'll be in the play-off places. Im amazed we are in with a shout of it. Tomorrow is far from a must win game imo - but it is the next game in our run of 8 points from 11 away games. Basically, it's not rocket science to see where things need to improve. Tomorrow would be a good place to start but after the performances against Wigan and Norwich I'm not getting my hopes up. Roll on January and some midfielders.
  2. SB might be just the man to sort this out TRO. Off the top of my head I can think of a few midfielders he's signed at various clubs over the years that would fit the bill. Diame, Cattermole, Huddlestone. That gives me a bit of confidence in this area.
  3. So I suppose It's that time of year when we all get our hopes up over another JPA but wind up with another Yacouba Sylla is it? All I really hope for is that Dr X and Bruce et al can see the same flaws as us. It's getting frustrating for the most of us because its the same drums we've been beating for years now. Gollini's not been perfect but he's a billionty times better than Bunn. Steer's out for the season aint he? So that leaves Sarcic as the only feasable back up? New GK is a no brainer for us really if only on loan. (For the record I like Gollini) De Laet was incredibly unlucky to get such a bad injury - and I'm not claiming he's a world beater but we should all probably cut the clubs a BIT of slack in that they tried to upgrade on what we had at right back. That being said, That we are still having a weekly choice of Hutton / Bacuna / Richards at Right Back is verging towards a criminal act. Elphick has turned out to be a bit of a lemon imo, but still better than what we actually saw from Richards or Okore, but Baker and Chester have done OK at this level. Amavi has done nothing to harm his reputation and I genuinely think we'll be lucky to hold onto him. Westwood and Gardner are done here imo. They themselves must see it's time to move on? The need for us to actually buy a midfield is glaringly obvious to anyone. And it's not like they haven't tried i suppose, in a way, but the roll call of midfielders since the Lambert era is shocking really. Holman, KEA, Westwood, Sylla, Herd, Gardner, Richardson, Bacuna, Sanchez, Veretout, Cleverley etc, etc. In that context, what the hell do we expect? Gabby, well theres a whole thread for that, but he's done here. Gestede is a donkey with a shocking lack of ability, however much there's a load of us that want some wingers to 'stick it on his head'. While idealism has to give way to pragmatism, I cant help dreaming of Bunn, Hutton, Bacuna, Richards, Cissokho, Westwood, Gardner, Gabby and Gestede all leaving for a brighter 2017. And as for Ayew - I get that there's a player there somewhere but Ive always been in the 'he wont be missed camp' when it comes to him.
  4. In 5 years of bad performances, this one really does stand out.
  5. This game is crying out for some positive subs. Cant believe neither team has blinked so far. It aint working Brucey - Change it.
  6. Gabby and Westwood totally anonymous that half imo. Hutton and Elphick hardly instill confidence. Kodjia and Ayew have been pretty shocking for all their effort.
  7. Looks like a right footed striker playing left wing to me
  8. well Bruce has at least killed the "what's happening with Gabby?" question. He's back in the fold. done now. Time to move on.
  9. Kept us in it today. MOTM for me. Great save from Maghoma 2nd half and the goal line save in the 1st. Keep it up lad.
  10. I noticed Geoff Thomas was on Sky today. THAT shot today reminded me of Geoff Thomas a bit.
  11. Nice to see the Jedinak I thought we'd be getting today.
  12. Well we didn't crumble, that's about the best we can say about that. Nice to see the Jedinak I thought we were getting. Still gave Gollini MOTM. Great save from Maghona kept us in it 2nd half and took it off the line in that first half scramble. Terrible game of football though.
  13. I thought he had his chance against Luton, no? First one out the door for me.
  14. Made me laugh at least when he was stood pointing at midfielders while Wolves players literally walked into space behind him. Absolute joke.
  15. I liked the look of him to be honest. Poor delivery all game, kinda like watching Albrighton a few years back. But he worked his socks off imo and that counted for something.
  16. as someone has already said, hanging on for a point at home to Wolves kinda shows where we are, that was quite symbolic to me. On the plus side we're hard to beat and we're not shiping huge amounts of goals. On the other side we dont have a clue when we have the ball. Ayew's abscence was obvious today. Looking for any positive I can cling to I like the look of Adomah, We looked more organised at set pieces to me today and I'm crediting Bruce with that. Richards left pointing while players drifted into space behind him made me laugh openly which was the most fun I had after the penalty going in, McCormack did well first half, we had to bring on Hutton & Baker and didnt throw the point away at the end. I know in reality we were awful and lucky thanks mainly to the ref (not only the penalty but both Chester and Grealish could have walked today) but I gotta look for any positives. Seeing Richards and Hutton again made me feel even more sorry for DeLaet. Or us. Good point though. At home. To Wolves. &*$% me.
  17. I'm surprised at Tyson for suggesting I give homosexuality a go.
  18. We are already that special case aren't we? But totally agree with the rest.
  19. Least of a **** I've ever given about sacking a manager. Saturday was a shambles.
