Beating blues was a good day out and a fantastic atmosphere at villa park, however it doesn't cover over the fact that this seasons has been god awlful. Awlful performances and shocking results combined with having to listen and read some of the things the numpty of a manager has said makes this season worse. Thanks for answering that one rich, a stupid point to say DOL is better than taylor because he finished 6th in his 1st season.

Any chance of converting you on the JPA front? :winkold:

I agree the general state of the club has alot to do with doug but i'd also argue that the poor performances and the constant negativity spoken by DOL has not helped the general feeling around the club. DOL though did have a good basis in the summer and many fans thought that we had a decent squad and were excited at the start of the season. I doubt there were many that thought we'd be this close to the bottom 3 at this point in the season.

Sorry but the reason we are in a relegation battle is not dougs fault. The reason we are a underacheiving average team is without a doubt dougs fault but i'm afraid the blame for being in a relegation battle has to go to DOL. There is no way our squad is poor enough to be in a relegation battle and how many people thought we would be after we spent some cash in the summer.

I don't consider myself a doug apologist but i don't believe things have been as terrible as some make out. There are only 4 teams since the premiership began who have more points than us in the premiership. The club hasn't been run great and there have been times when if the right investment had been made we could have had more success. However wishing someone to die because Aston Villa is not performing great at the moment is really really pathetic IMO.

DOL may not have been kept out of the loop because he could be out of work pretty soon. If Doug and DOL leave that will 2 of the 3 i want away from VP

Sorry disn't mean it to sound harsh and come accross as all knowing. I'm just fed up of angel and the excuses that go along with his poor performances. I really don't think he has any attributes that can improve aston villa as a team and i really don't like the idea of dropping a promising player like davis just to try and fit JPA in the team.

On what evidence can you say that he would be good as an attacking midfielder, has he ever played in that position? The only passes i see angel make are sideways or backwards so i fail to see why he'd be so great as an attacking midfielder. Also an attacking midfielder should be someone who can run with the ball at players something that angel cannot do. Just because his passing and creativity stats are good on champ doesn't mean he can do a job there. Angel has nothing more to offer aston villa than as cover for the two better strikers we now have.

I've never known a villa player get so many excuses for not performing. His first full season with us wasn't that great he scored something like 11 league goals, no for our £10 million record signing who according to some is world class i don't thinks thats good enough. Then people can blame taylor for dropping him but at the start he played a few games and i remember one away to bolton on tv and he was shocking. Then he had a great season yep can't argue he was quality but then again i remember marcus stewart having one great season. Last year he was again back to his shocking self and we get the excuse about being rushed back from injury, well he has had a full preseason and still looks crap so what will the excuse be this year? Also i've read a few that say angel can score from distance, i can think of 2 goals were he has done this. Also risso i couldn't agree more with you mate, angel does not have the speed to create a goal scoring chance for himself.

I swear some people on here are living in a dream world or just play champ manager to much. Just because angel is south american and wears an alice band does not mean he is a good playmaker, what has he ever showed to suggest that he could perform this role. All he does in games is pass the ball back or pass it out wide how exactly is that going to improve our creativity. Some people love angel way to much, he has failed as a striker so now you want us to try him in another position. Anyone who has villaworld go and watch the highlights of the villa blues game the season before last were your saviour JPA missed an absolute sitter that would have won us the game. Imagine someone like barry or hendrie had done the same miss they would never be forgiven.
