  1. Thanks for everything Fabian, was a pleasure watching you mature into a full international. Personally I think it's a move he'll regret but I wish nothing but the best, without him I have no doubt we'd now be playing in the Championship
  2. New owners without a doubt. Sherwood was exactly what was required at the time, he give the club a boost and ultimately kept us up. However there are still big question marks hanging over him and I can't help but feel he's a short term solution to a long term problem. This club needs new ownership and new impetus to get out of the rut we have found ourselves in
  3. I'd take Lennon in a heartbeat. Doing a fantastic job at Bolton and done really well at Celtic. He also signed a lot of cheap young talent from abroad and sold them for huge profits which is a model we should be trying to follow. Don't know if he'd leave Bolton so soon though
  4. Jonathan Hope was the agent who made the middle of the road comment, he works for JSH Sports agency. The agency Cleverley uses is Ungeklart i.e. Jonathan Hope has nothing to do with Tom Cleverley and his views are not representative of Cleverley's
  5. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/colombia/10943997/World-Cup-2014-Why-Carlos-Sanchez-is-crucial-to-Colombias-hope-of-ruining-Brazils-party-in-Fortaleza.html Good article on him before the Brazil quarter-final. He sounds like exactly what we need so for that reason I doubt we'll get him
  6. This could be the wake up call needed for the board to invest some much needed money, when you look at the money they get for making the group stages it would be madness not to invest now. I feel for Legia Warsaw but to make such a mistake is unforgivable and it has cost them massively
  7. To be fair the 30k per point wouldn't exactly be an issue if he joined us
  8. The smugness and self satisfaction on TBAR makes me want to self harm. This talk of a further bid hours after announcing our new owners reeks of BS
  9. There's no chance he'll be leaving in the summer now. He could easily be out until next year though and even when he returns he won't be anywhere near match fit. Devestating blow for all concerned
  10. Progression, slowly but surely. Higher in the table, more points on the board, more goals scored and less conceded than this time last year. It's not perfect of course with home form and general inconsistency obviously the big ones but there has been slight improvement which should culminate in a final position of around 10 - 14. Rome wasn't built in a day and I still back Lambert
  11. I'm actually confident that if we stay up the future will be bright. This season was always going to be a struggle (admittedly it's a bit more of a struggle than most of us imagined) but the ultimate goal was and still is to stay in the division. We've seen how fragile and inexperienced this young team looks having been thrown in the deep end but on the flip side of that this year will be invaluable to their progression and they'll be better players because of it. Throw in the extra Sky money and a few high earners leaving in the summer and I think we won't have the same worries next year. If the worst was to happen I think Lambert has to have until Christmas to see if he can bring us back up, I'd hate to have the same uncertainty hanging over the club again while we look for a new manager
  12. Probably doesn't want him to get injured with a big money bid from Arsenal or United imminent
  13. Wow that list is depressing. Some of the money we have wasted on players that are the very definition of mediocrity is obscene
  14. Q1. Has the season so far gone as you expected? I knew it was always going to be a difficult season but I didn't expect it would be as bad as this. I'm more worried about relegation now than I was under McLeish and that's something I thought I'd never say Q2. The transfer window is currently open, where do Aston Villa need to strengthen most? Centre midfield is a must, there simply isn't the quality in there. A centre-back would be nice as well, Dunne and Vlaar will steady the ship but can't be relied upon to stay injury free. Experience is vital Q3. The game at Villa Park finished 1-1. What were your opinions on that game? Fair result? From what I recall it was an even game and a fair result Q4. You've had some pretty poor results recently, do you have any doubts over whether Paul Lambert is the right man for you? No doubts whatsoever. He was my first pick for the job and still is. This is a transition season and in the long term I think he will be a superb manager for this club. We just need to get through this season and then I think we'll pick up Q5. You're in a relegation battle, do you reckon you shall survive and which three clubs shall be relegated? 50/50. Reading I think are a certainty for the drop then it's two from QPR, Soton, Wigan and us. Q6. Which players should we be wary of in your side, and who do you fear the most in ours? Benteke on his day is unplayable, Weimann has really impressed as well. For you I'm having nightmares about Lukaku could do against us. I rate Morrison as well and Brunt from set pieces will be a huge danger Q7. Score predictions. I'm an optimist so would like to think we could snatch a point. Being realistic though it's hard to see anything but a loss, 2 - 0 to WBA I'll say
  15. I watched the match live and thought he was poor. I watched the highlights and saw nothing to make me change my opinion. I think assists are a key stat to look at when you're discussing creative players, one of the most important stats in fact. What is the definition of a key pass, a pass that leads to an effort on goal? Surely being the corner taker then will bloat these figures somewhat as all he needs is a teammate to get on the end of a corner to achieve a key pass. Of the 34 goals we've scored this season he's assisted one, that's another stat that's pretty damning
  16. If he was creating goals then I think misplaced pass after misplaced pass could be forgiven but he isn't. No goals and one assist all season is shocking for a supposedly creative player
  17. Mediocrity personified, he simply isn't good enough to play in the Premiership and in all likelihood never will be. Hopefully come 1st February he'll be reduced to a bit part player squad member
  18. Sickening to concede like that but Swansea should have been 5 up after half an hour so a point is a good return. We may have a pish poor defence and midfield but Bentekkers and Weimann are turning into a good combination and will keep us in this League. It's just great to stop the rot and actully put the ball in the net. Weimann motm for me, Benteke and Guzan close behind
