  1. At last a sensible review. Inspired me to contribute even though I pressed many wrong comment buttons.
  2. Not a regular poster on this but lifelong fan. It was a shit game but to think that they were in any way better is ridiculous. I agree that Hourihane should have stayed on but I always thought a point was a good result. Don’t forget our away form is still to take shape. Steve Bruce has got us in the top 6 but still hated by many on here; even when we win. Maybe I just don’t get it. My bad.
  3. Well said and Bruce has said as much after the game about not throwing millions. John Motson said today that Graham Taylor built a club rather than a team when he was at Watford and he rebuilt us in the late 80s. Let's allow Bruce to rebuild our club and give him as long as he needs.
  4. Yeah, let's change manager. It always works.
  5. He saved us in last minute in previous game. That said, he doesn't seem the long term option.
  6. He was man of the match for me and what was so poor about us?* They hardly threatened. We just need to be more clinical but apart from that, a professional away win, the type Mourinho would be lauded for. *I mean on here in general not your post of course
  7. Allardyce coming in would be the final nail in our coffin. We are not going up this time as far too much baggage still around mentally from last season. Sick of sacking managers. Let everything gel and accept that next season we will run away with it.
  8. Hard to know what to say. I'm 42. Supported Villa since my earliest memory. Achieved a lifelong ambition to hold a season ticket in MON years, which everyone slagged off for whatever reason. 6th in PL Garde is in no way at fault for this current predicament. He is trying to work out a best team from a previous regime's squad. January will be crucial but probably too little too late. When we go to championship, keep Garde and build some kind of future which involves winning games regularly. I think he is an intelligent manager who will soon be sought after. The players just aren't good enough. Libor Kozak? I rate him as an international goalscorer. Why is Gestede getting the nod ahead of him?
  9. As an avid football watcher and lifelong Villa fan that was unacceptable at half time at Sky. To openly laugh at us like that no matter how warranted was poor form although I agree that Neville was making a point out of exasperation at our performance with an inexplicable starting 11. An all time low for us so only way is up. I think we have many good players who need to play week in week out, especially Gill.
  10. ^^^ THIS ^^^ That's all it was - good tactical change by a smart coach who I hope will be at Villa next season with Timothy ! ^^^ THIS ^^^ That's all it was - good tactical change by a smart coach who I hope will be at Villa next season with Timothy ! I agree with this. Quality observation. Leave Sherwood alone as he is clearing up a mess with none of his on players. #own players
  11. At last some comments on the game not the idiots at the end. This has been our best week in years
  12. I don't want us to go down but can't help feeling it's the wake up call the club needs. Can't really criticise Sherwood after 2 matches. At least he says more than we go again at the end of the matches and isn't afraid of being disliked. Sounds like Benteke had a better game.
  13. A minority of fans make me sick. We all understand heat of the moment but to punch a father in the face because they disagree? Horrific. Villa are in trouble. Lambert is likely to stay whatever because of his contract so what's the point in endless Lambert Out chants? I wouldn't mind hearing more constructive ideas about team selection etc. I also want to know what Lambert has against Bent? Why has Grealish not been starting? Sterling has at Liverpool. Before he went to Jamaica that is...
  14. That was my Dad. He got punched in the face because he said to the bloke he should get behind the team instead of calling for Lambert's head following a misplaced pass by Tom Cleverley in the 50th minute. Embarrassed to call myself a Villa fan after today; both on and off the pitch we were a disgrace.
  15. I didn't mean that we should use injuries as an excuse. Just be careful what you wish for.
  16. Have not seen the game yet but feel we are close to some kind of decent form. Let's not forget Cole has not been fit. When he is, got a feeling he will start more games than he doesn't. We are trying to stay in the toughest league with minimal investment. Personally, I like the fact we have stuck by the manager. I'm old fashioned in thinking that you should try to judge the manager on the whole season. Injuries have been ridiculous throughout his tenure as well as unprofessional assistants. Keane doesn't seem such a tough guy now eh? I think when everyone is fit we are a top ten side but can anyone remember when we had a fully fit side? Despite his mistake today I think Okore is a huge prospect. We, as Villa fans are naturally negative and critical. This is because we have high expectations due to a proud history. Many of us weren't satisfied with the O'Neill era, even though it is the most successful in recent memory. This is good because we should never just be satisfied. There should always be challenge and striving for the next step up. Once Lerner decided to sell, I thought the club would begin to disintegrate. We are not adrift at the bottom so let's challenge and criticise but be grateful for what we have so far. Unless of course we bring DiCanio in...
  17. Undone by a tired first half and early goal conceded again. That said, much better second half. Bacuna wasn't as bad as many are making out. Passing judgment on a player far too early. Progress is what we are after and from end of last season to now we have steady and encouraging improvement. Can't believe how we have been stitched up with having to play the Chelsea game within a few days of Arsenal then Liverpool today. Moyes moaning about Utd's first few fixtures last week was an insult. Didn't hear Lambert saying the fixtures were a fix.
  18. Also Benteke had a poor game but scratch off his goals and we would be QPR by now. Let's not have too short a memory eh.
  19. Our mistake, as with Swansea and Everton, was to retreat deep when in a good position in the game. This plays to our weakness which is the defence. I know an Arsenal season ticket holder who texted me to say that if we had gone for it we would have won the game. Instead we cama away with nothing. We go again.
  20. I understand the pain and frustration. More than that, I feel it. However, there is no real value in slagging off yet again. We went to a top 4 chasing side who had to dig incredibly deep to snatch a late point. Apparently Guzan saved a potential winner after that too. Majority on here predicted we would get thumped. It's a tiny step forward and from now on that's the way it will be if we are to beat the drop. There won't be a fantastic run of 3 point games. We are in a scrap and actually fought for a change. Every tiny positive counts. If you don't accept this, then look at Wigan's uncanny ability, shown again today, to come back and grab something from a game that seemed long gone. That's the way we have to be between now and May. If we are not then hello Championship.
