  1. Its no for me and it could be because..... ' After 40 years of watching Villa now my dad is 65 he can't get a concession because we are in P6 not P3, so the advice from Villa is move.... When Villa play Poker with me and suggest I move they also ask me to make a choice....they lost this time...the only downside to giving up our great seats is missing our friends, their suggestion was just this...we may as well pick our games. I will give my ST money to charity if the bloody seats sell for full price anyway!!! Wake up Villa. After watching Milner and Barry and to a lesser extent Young go I have lost the stomach for the rebuild and for paying the wages of these sh!t heads. The Barn Social Club closed where we went for years for our pre-match pint McLeish...nice bloke but you don't get 1000 pages on VT as a manager unless you are a word removed, or won the champoins league I pay £600 for my ST and cant get any food on on a night match (upper Witton) and NO draft beer. A pie or a Kit kat is the best AVFC can do in their most expensive seats in 2012 I love Villa and Love what Lerner tried to do but I have never felt so distant from Villa or so totally numb by it all. We have to change it.

you'd sack an undefeated manager who's been given no money. we'd look like a joke, no decent manager would touch us. I hate our fans. This

Never give up. We will score.
  4. General said O'Neil was aware of constraints for some time and then just left - why do some assume he is lying about that and that there has to be more to it? We must spend more on wages than most and the position looked to me like it got way out of control. We have a small squad but zero options on the bench considering what we spent. I think they were trying to reign MON in for ages and timing aside it could be a relief I think. If I were Randy and saw Shorey, Beye, Salifu, Davis, Reo, Ginger and some of the other turning up day after day with no real prospect of a game or being moved on I think I would quickly come to see it as a releif as well. Apart from not giving me any decent food in the Upper Witton the transformation in the Club has been amazing. Commercially we are miles ahead of where we were. Of course there is not a bottomless pit but I think they are happy for a decent % of turnover to go an wages, if that turnover increases then great, the % we spend goes up too. You can't go on forever with a deficit, it makes no sense. I honestly don't get the negativity around the manger search. Just because the press write it like it is fact it does not mean it is. Even if they have been spot on what is really wrong with the approach. People have started saying we are skint in the media and on here and it seems to be taken now as fact. Maybe the search has included all the names we want it to. Maybe one of them will agree. Maybe the press don't actually know every detail, Maybe we have some money. Maybe RL the lawyer, finance expert, Villa Tattoed Chairman is actually not a numb nuts and has a clue. Maybe the General is just getting pissed off having to defend every position on a subject he can obviously never win on or talk about fully while ongoing. Maybe Houillier will get appointed, steady the ship, sign some french people and we might win more games than we did last year. Or maybe the hole situation is hopeless, RL bought the club as part of a remake of Brewsters Millions where instead of buying a Baseball Team he has 5 years to spend $150 million. Maybe I should give more of a toss than I do and am worn out by it.
  5. Timmy Mallet then Lorraine Kelly then Ant but we can't afford Dec
  6. Need to step this up a bit...think I would take 1-1 now!!!
  7. One really small point which having read previous threads I guess is also for Alison Plant. I am a ST holder in the Witton Upper stand. The depth of the stand concourse is really poor and causes some real challenges for the fans and for the staff. Having said this, recently some basics seem to have gone wrong, at 3pm Sunday there was one choice of pie from 4, no pasties, no Tea and only black coffee. In this stand we already have a very limited provision and certainly no healthy options as in other areas. I stood literally hungry watching person afer person walk to the counter and away shaking their heads. Please don't get me wrong, my belly can certainly afford to miss the odd pie, I just thought it was a missed opportunity. Next home game I will be thinking of eating outside the gound just in case, this feels like a double loss for the club. As always there are positives too, more staff to serve etc and they seem happier too even when dealing with hungry folk. :winkold: Also, I just had a little boy and would love to register him as a Little Villain, the web link has just gone to a "coming soon" page for the last month or so. Other than that you rock!! I am so proud of the club for its new ability to maintain a credible yet competitive position in an otherwise crazy sport...we now have class. Thanks.
  8. Different people will no doubt have different views as to how to implement it. Personally I like the idea a lot, as the re-arranged games can affect me quite badly. Again personally, I'd be happy to be "credited" with the "credit" going to the next season's season ticket purchase. I'm not rich, but having paid the money out at the start of a season, I consider it "gone" and for me, knowing that a re-arranged game at least means I will get my 25 quid (or whatever amount) back in the form of a discount off next season's season ticket (or perhaps just as credit to be used anywhere within the club - shop, travel, whatever) would be equally acceptable as a straight refund. There are obvious advantages in this for the club, too. It is really pleasing that the club is both listening and acting in this way. Thank you. Great addition to a good idea. Get the positive PR, avoid the cost and hassle of refunding individual amounts and more or less guarantee repeat business...great. Especially if combined with the new credit card type tickets so it is paper/voucher less process.
  9. Good work fella. If it helps I am happy to pledge to "Buy a student a Pie". If you think about it it works on loads of levels...they are skint and get a free lunch, it starts a conversation which might get them interested, gets some meat in them (better than falafel burgers) and makes me feel good about myself.... In fact... General..how about giving the students a free Pie & Pint voucher. If there is one thing that will get them in it is beer and pastry. This is pretty short term anyway, I live for the day I get asked if I can get tickets for the Villa and have the pleasure of saying NO CHANCE.
  10. General Mr Murphy from the Post has far too much time on his hands in the West Indies waiting for the Cricket to kick off. Of course his nose is out of joint, he used to get fed scraps from Villa and now has to work for a story. Can't blame him to an extent. When have we heard Mr Parry of Liverpool or various other owners quoted in such a manner? We have a very competent CEO to talk to the press. They just can't quite trust Randy and can't understand his angle...cynics don't understand Randy, he is not logical to them. Passion, faith and a desire to be the best custodian of a community asset he can does not sell papers...pity, its a much better story in this odd world. Up the Villa. Thanks to you General & Randy...and in fairness...today...Mr Stride. Birmingham Post...SMILE.
  11. General Happy New Yearand thanks for a 2007 with Hope!! Few ideas... A lot of money is spent on the acadamy but all the clubs are going after the same talent, somebody spoke previously of Birmingham sending a forward party to cross no mans land into the Northern stronghold of Sutton Coldfield!! Now General.... this is like the Canadians recruiting mounties outside the gates of Camp Pendleton!!! We will already be doing a lot to find talented kids, this has to be our focus. Just thought of an idea which may compliment... could we focus some help on the people organising these kids teams? If we supported these coaches, facilitated FA Approved training and supplied kit and balls we would get a lot of goodwill. By default these guys love the game, most would probably love to have made it to a big club like Villa as players but now try to help others. This in itself is worthy of help. The slightly Villa orientated reason is...if as a coach you had got the help I suggest and were "close to Villa" and knew a few faces there......then got a real talent on your hands....who do you go to? Also tickets, I read previously that the ticket system we have has ben descibed to you as best in class. I think they might be reffering to the system "desk side" at VP, which could be Ok. The system I was trying to describe (I think!!) is in place at Ajax in Amsterdam (nice place fo you to take the missus for a look) season ticket holders have an electronic credit card type device which gets them into all games. The stadium is also "cashless" with cards charged up with cedit at ATM style machines. (all the away fans end up with a small un-spendable amount left!!!! GREAT) Imagine the point of sale benefit the marketing guys could use this for i.e. we know the problem with reducing the ticket price to attract fans is it is great for bums on seats but annoys loyal season ticket holders...you could electronically give season ticket holders a merchandise credit. Occasional fans can just call up and have a game credited to the card, no post, no delay. You could even have self service machines at the airport etc. I know you are visiting around the ground, it would be great to see you in the Witton Upper oh alright...Doug Ellis Upper... at one of the games. It was built more shallow than planned because of planning issues, it really is desperate on busy games, not sure what can be done but most people I sit by just have a drink well before the game and then head upstairs, it is a nightmare just before or at half time. just seems a bit of a missed opportunity. There is a club room downstairs (Targett Suite) really is expensive though, close to doubles the cost of the season ticket just to get in. You don't seem to get anymore than going to the holte Suite (no food or drink inclued etc). Not sure how many you get in there but it would be packed if it were able to be accessed on the same terms as the Holte. Have a great New Year, up the Villa.
  12. Top Post...you deserve a pint. I have sent that to 3 Blosers already. Top Drawer. Come on General...hit the button..WE NEED PARK AND RIDE!!!
  13. General I am astounded at the two signings made this week (CEO & CFO). I never thought for a second that even you and Randy could attract these guys to the roles They are very impressive appointments and you should both be delighted. You just don't get where those guys have in their careers unless you are serious players. I will pledge to buy 2 of the home shirts designed by Pablo and 2 away (assuming they are white!!). We need a clean bush through the club and for me the round badge in the middle is unique quirky and simple..just like us!!! Thanks again ...you have given us Villa back.
  14. Great idea Bicks. Think of all the great reportage from our forthcoming European travels.....at some point soon !!!
  15. Great Post and fair play to you. I had tears in my eyes at 4-0, from when I looked around and listened to the passion of Villa. Not because we lost a game 4-0. Big differenc for me at least. We CAN believe now ...we have hope.
  16. Yep, definately a possibility, lets hope so, a release of power from his satanic tight fist in any form can only be good. You can pay the likes of Rothschilds on finding a buyer as well as "by the meeting/biscuit"!
  17. If somebody is performing due dilligence on you you bloody well know about it. At my firm it was like a "super audit", they really have the drains up. To me it sounds like the Comers have been in but have just not yet confirmed they have seen enough i.e. Villa statement correct as per Grants interpretation in that to prerform due diligence you have to come to a conclusion to complete it. To me on first read this release just sounds like a put up or shut up from Villa.....we have agreed a price, you have sent the lawyers in, you have not confirmed if you have seen enough and in any event show us the money...oh and by the way get a jog on because we are prepared to exploit other options via Roths. It will be interesting to see the inevitable Comer response, Villa have now upped the ante I reckon, and the negotiation is focusing in. If the Comers are serious and are still talking I guess we will have a general but stern release like... AVIL note the release from AVFC and continue to work on the bid but will not be hurried etc. What would be better is "AVIL note the response from AVFC but would like to urge the fans to stick with us, dealing with this bunch of idiots takes time, Ellis is doing all he can to fu*k us over but we are sticking at it....now that would be nice... Just my ramblings anyway.
  18. Not totally sure I understand some of the negativity towards the Comers. Does anybody really think Ellis will put a fair price on the club "out the traps" or will he be more likely to try to make an unfair premium? What if the true price is right between the "cheeky" ranson bid and the "wible wobble hatstand" Elies valuation? Aka the alleged offer from the Comers. Corporate lawyers can get a true valuation of a company pretty close in due diligance, even down to the proper "good will" etc. If the Comers have been advised that their offer is top dollar, it would certainly explain the delay, you would also, after a few weeks expect a leak of this type to put pressure on the negotiation. If I was Petchey I might now be urging the old knacker to get a jog on and do the deal. To imply the Comers should just get on with it is a bit crazy I reckon. If one of us won the Euro millions and had the cash but was advised a fair price was MAX £55m, would you happily hand over £65m to piss pants? I would struggle, and I have a passion for Villa we just can't expect from these type of money men investors. I think this is very close to shit or bust and quotes from both sides might not be far away. I don't think Ellis will want that type of heat that will come from him being shown to have just been a greedy no business acumen geriatric
  19. Can't talk to the fans, can't buy...or loan players....and get lots of media attention from hacks trying to scoop the takeover... I bet Ellis is seriously pissed he didn't think of this takeover lark 6 or 7 AGMs ago :!:
