What in Gods name does Chuk having not signed a contract yet, have to do with the potential signing of Coutinho ?

Exactly. If anything it might encourage him to sign.

Sky are appalled and baffled that we might be the team that he goes to.

In the summer, I think Barca might be willing to let him go for a nominal fee in order to get that last £19m off the wage bill. I think he'd take a three year deal on £200k a week and I think that could be within our budget. I'd love to see this one happen, if only because it might start to change the way people think about us.

Just another reason to love the idea.

It took me a couple of minutes for that to click.

Yeah i'm wondering If i've had it myself in the past 2 - 3 weeks.

Had an unexplainable exhaustion slump, cold symptoms etc.

Same for a lot of people mate. All showing negative too which makes me wonder about the accuracy of the test. Symptoms on the NHS site have not been updated since before Delta so a lot are expecting the loss of taste and smell symptoms, which doesn't necessarily happen with Omicron, before getting a test. It's much more a standard cold profile. Also upper respiratory tract infection rather than lower in the lungs apparently.

But yes, a lot of very tired people around...

As someone else said, the man looks bloody exhausted.

The " Villa Effect " has started to take set.

He'll be fat and grey in another 3 months the poor sod. lol

Bit of a worry for me as exhaustion is a symptom of Moronic. Mild to extreme. Then again, he's been working damn hard the past few weeks so hopefully it's only that.

It's all about the hair and say what you want about Deano but he wasn't exactly lacking in the hair department either. Merry Christmas, keep the change.

Smith. Gerrard. Arteta. Very strong hair game.

  6. Also, if Gerrard has driven us to a new level by the time he moves on, no way the board will tolerate any backwards steps in managerial level. We will also kick on; we’d be a much better prospect for top level managers. If it goes well for SG here, we win all ways round.

playing games like that, with our squad, you sometimes have to resort to a style that is not the long term intention......We will morph as we go, right now its "clean sheets and a nick a goal, 3 points"........style.

5 games in and in our league position, that was a dogged attempt at a point imv.....The penalty, changed the dynamics for us, and affected the gameplan.

He can't be expected to come in and change us in to a side that takes the game to Liverpool in their own back yard....that really is pie in the sky.

Definitely agree here. We conclude that he hasn't been in the door long enough to get carried away with the good results, yet are willing to extrapolate his long term defensive intentions based on the same game sample size? This is not his squad. he hasn't one player in there that he's chosen himself. Him and his team will have identified what we can do, what we might be able to do and what we downright cannot do pretty quickly. This will inform the game plans he feels he can play, but not the ones he will want to play going forward. He's not perfect all infallible but is highly motivated to succeed. That will take time and patience (though I suspect not too much).

Just watched Sky Sports and they mentioned Gerrard has a link with our opponents today.  Apparently he played for Liverpool at some point in his playing career…it’s amazing what you learn.

Eh? When was this? Funny how it never comes up.

Same, I am enjoying getting carried away with it all. Enjoying the moment!

Bang on. Hate to be morbid but we never know what's around the corner - I'm in with both boots on this, there's no time to lose and of it goes to **** then so what? I was happy at the time and enjoyed it while it lasted. And if it doesn't I got a head start on the rush :D

  10. He can be a little bit abrupt and...cantankerous even ("Well done for working that out" - ouch!), which I have to say I'm really enjoying. Not just for the sake of it, but because it will make the journo's work a bit harder I reckon, keep them in check a touch and also projects a no-nonsense, business aura. That'll bleed into everything. We've got serious in a hurry. Absolutely love it.

This guy is either a brilliant mind and passionate footballing man, or the most skilled Charlatan of all time.

He just knows EXACTLY what to say, and how to say it.

  12. Gerrard will be absolutely chomping at the bit to mix it with Pep. These are the people he wants to compare himself against and stand beside. That competitiveness will be infectious. I have a vibe about the Man City game, but regardless of the result we will give them a game for sure.

I don’t think I’m being disingenuous because what you’ve just gone onto explain is exactly what I said which you then acknowledge in the final paragraph.  It’s not having a go, it’s just explaining it.

Personally I'd say we're all agnostics - some erring more to the positive, some the negative, but no-one actually knows or can possibly know. If they do, lottery numbers to my inbox please!

  14. I'm absolutely determined to remain rational and objective, but will also make the following claims:

1 - We've just had our Roberto Mancini moment

2 - Gerrard will be the first English manager to lead a team to a Premier title. Hopefully us, but if not he'll do it somewhere.

    UTV.

The Scottish fans posting earlier in thread said that one of his weaknesses was his game management and substitutions. They have of course got 3yrs worth of viewing to form their opinions, but I thought everything he did today on that front was spot on.

God forbid he may have learnt something in those three years eh?
