Gerrard was 100% Purslow's doing as was the signing of Coutinho ( look at the way he announced it as the players awards ) ultimatly SG being a failure was going to cost him. I imagine after swapping manager midseason we didn't want more upheaval hence he was kept around but minute SG left he was effectively gone as well.

Only a year left on deal I belive so suspect a deal will be found for Luton to get him realatively cheaply and we get some return back.Alternatively perhaps another loan with a loan fee and wages covered.

Some selective memory quotes the success of Milner /Downing and Young which they were but he brought so much utter rubbish on high wages which they sat on until they left for free which is part caused us to tighten up the money so much. I'd like him to explain how majority of his signings where 1) Uk Based 2)Generally has an ok season recently .Wasn't the story that he asked Sidwell if Shorey was any good then signed him... I'm not surprised he regrets leaving , he did nothing elsewhere.The era of a good motivator on the side-lines came to an end you needed actual tactics and a solid transfer policy which he lacked He gave us some good times but then and now my feeling is a better manager with the resources he had would of done better.

Look at how Purslow announced Coutinho signing at the players awards night , he loves to hog the limelight and get involved with the big names . Couthino is just like him signing Joe Cole for Liverpool He speaks well and I'm sure in some aspects he has improved the club but on the pitch is the backbone of the club.There is no point talking about new stands etc if we are fighting to stay in the top flight.We all know Stevie was his choice again bring in the big name and he should carry the can for the failure as well as SG.

Along with Trez he was the unsung hero of the relegation scrap .To say he is not hardworking , go back and watch any of those games in project restart his tracking and breaking up of play was outstanding. Top clubs want him for a reason and we are where we are as he has not been played this season and the game he did start as soon as he went off we crumbled.The look on his face when he sat on bench afterwards was enough to tell you he was pissed off.

The first half was players running around working as hard as they could to get ball but with no clear tactic oh how to press or what to do once they got it .It was pointed out time and time again in comms we where set up too narrow and allowing Arsenal to get wide easily , this is tactics you could see the MF all close to each other leaving space wide. When we did get the ball going forward there was no one in the box.This is also not a new thing it why our endless crossing from FB's get's us zero joy.
