I've read some of this thread, not all of it. I was sitting in my local last Saturday (week). I was watching the Irish rugby team getting their asses handed to them by England. I checked twitter on my phone. There was messages coming in from all sides. Muamba had collapsed. It wasn't looking too good. I love English football. The thoughts of a premiership player dying on the field of play sickened me. That it was live on television sickened me more. It was major news. Then he went to hospital. Then he didn't die. Then he started getting better. Now I am over it. I was very concerned for him & his people at the time. Now I am not. Get well soon(er).

Watched the first 2 episodes of LA Cop drama "Southland' last night. Looks to be a good 'un. First 2 series on amazon for less than a tenner. On the comedy front watching 'Community' & "Modern Family'. I am relatively new to both and enjoying them very much. I can be a bit of a comedy snob, so this is my equivalent of 'two thumbs up'.

Best advice I was given prior to my test. 1. Always look in your mirrors. 2. Tell no one when you're doing it (the test, that is). I passed it first time. It was on a Friday, I was flying to Australia the following Monday, on a 12-month visa. So there was a little pressure. But it all worked out.

Paid a road-toll at the booth recently. I generally have the correct change and don't go to the booth. Not sure about the UK, but in Ireland, the machines don't accept copper coins. At the booth, I handed the cashier a €2 coin to pay for a €1.80 toll. I had driven off before looking at my change, but when I did I noticed he have given me: 1 x 10 cent coin 1 x 5 cent coin (copper) 1 x 2 cent coin (copper) 3 x 1 cent coin (coppers) I know it's all legal tender, but if your machines don't accept it off me, why the fu*k do you expect me to accept it off you? It definitely will not happen again as I will be more attentive the next time.

Apropos of not much, but one of the lads on the Guardian's football podcast last Monday reckons that a team will go down with 30 points this year. It'll be interesting to see if he's proved right. Massive 3 points for Villa all the same. EDIT: Does that even make sense? Stay up with 30 points. Better? F*ck it, I'm not sure what he said.

Me too, didn't care for it much 1st time. Too much dialogue and not enough of the actual bastards themselves. It's a long film though, so it will probably be a while before I sit through it again.

It was absorbing stuff. I wonder how much footage they had to work with, editing it into something coherent was a massive undertaking and the finished product was excellent. It was amazing how quickly the likes of Souza, Hart & Magilton came and went. It was hilarious at times too, Briatore telling them to send some guy on as a sub, they did and the guy scored. Briatore is up in the stand, with the Italian hands gestures, "What did I tell you?" But you could tell he hadn't a clue about the game really. The sacking of Warnock seems all the more callous too, especially the way he turned things around. He seemed to own the place as soon as he walked through the door. I know lots of people think he's a prick, but I was impressed by what the documentary showed of him last night.
